ATTORNEY Patented Dec. 7, 1943 TOILET CASE Eerel A. Arnold, Boston, Mass, assignor to Knight Leather Products 00., Inc., Boston, Mass, a corporation Application April 20, 1942, Serial No. 439,692
2 Claims.
This invention relates to a case for toilet articles.
The principal object of my invention is to provide a high quality, well constructed toilet case including a strong partition that is securely anchored to the front, bottom and back of said case, thus making the interior of the case more useful and also more attractive. Another object is to construct the case of parts that are simple to make and assemble so that the cost of manufacture will be relatively low for such a Well-built case.
The foregoing and other objects which will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, may be accomplished by a construction, combination and operable arrangement of parts such as disclosed by the drawings and specification. The nature of the invention is such as to render it susceptible to various changes and modifications, and, therefore, I am not to be limited to said disclosure; but am entitled to all such changes therefrom as fall within the scope of my claims.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective View of my toilet case in open position.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1, and Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the parts forming my toilet case disassembled.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of my toilet case in closed position.
As illustrated my case is formed of a bottom l2, a back 13, hingedly connected toa top I4 from which a front flap l5 extends downwardly. A front 16 hingedly connects to said bottom l2. These parts are connected together and are formed of pieces of cardboard or other firm material and covered at the inside with an inner leather covering it! or the like and on the outside with an outer leather covering 2!] or the like which supply the connecting hinge means. Stitching 2| serves to hold difierent parts together as shown.
I provide an inner compartment C having a back 24, a bottom 25 and side walls 26 at opposite sides. These parts are formed of pieces of cardboard or other firm material and covered with said leather covering or the like at the inside. The said side walls 26 which are covered with an inside leather or the like lining and an outside lining, form the side walls of the finished case. Said compartment back 24 and bottom 25 are united to said corresponding parts l3 and I2 to thereby constitute part of said case.
A supporting strap 3| extends from the front edge of each said side wall 25 rearwardly and has a free end 3Ia extending at right angles from said wall, as shown in Figure 4 of the drawings. Said strap 3| is held between the cardboard and inner leather covering IQ of said wall 26 by stitching 32 at a point intermediate the top and bottom of a said side wall 26. A partition P extends between said walls 26, resting on said bottom 25 and terminating about one-half way up said case. It is inset somewhat from the front edge of said bottom 25. It is formed of cardboard 33, which is covered at the front by leather lining 34. On the rear surface of said partition P a sheet is united thereto which consists of a piece of cardboard 35, one surface of which is covered by leather or the like 36. This sheet has attached to it a bottom portion 3'! which is united to said compartment bottom 25.
The said free ends 31a of said supporting straps 3| extend between said partition cardboards 33 and 35, being cemented thereto. This secures 7 said partition P firmly yet said strap 3| is not noticeable.
Holders 38 are attached to said partition P and at the inside surface of said front l6 to hold various toilet articles as desired.
Said partition P is firmly held at the front by means of a thin sheet of leather 39 which is held between two cardboard partitions 15a and Hib forming said front and extends over and covers the front portion of said compartment bottom 25 whence said sheet 39 extends upwardly between said partition cardboard 33 and its front lining 34, and is securely cemented thereto.
Said front flap I5 has a closure tab 4| which is adapted to enter a loop 42 attached to said front Hi to thereby hold said front flap l5 and said front [6 together when desired.
What I claim is:
1. A toilet case comprising a bottom, a back, a top, and a front, connected to each other so as to provide openings at opposite sides, an inner compartment embodying a back, a bottom, and two opposite side walls each embodying a plurality of layers united together, said compartment back and bottom being attached to the corresponding parts first mentioned, said side walls filling said openings at the sides and being attached to said bottom and back, a partition embodying a plurality of layers united together and extending between said side walls and resting on said bottom and inset from the front edges of said bottom and side walls, and holding straps held between said layers of said side walls and extending from the front of said side walls rearwardly and having free ends that extend at substantially right angles to said side walls and between said layers forming said partition where they are held.
2. A toilet case comprising a bottom, a back, a top, and a front, connected to each other so as to provide openings at opposite sides, an inner compartment embodying a back, a bottom and two opposite side walls each embodying a plurality of layers united together, said compartment back and bottom being attached to the corresponding parts first mentioned, said side walls filling said openings at the sides and being attached to said bottom and back, a partition embodying a plurality of layers united together and extending between said side walls and resting on said bottom and inset from the front edges of said bottom and side walls, holding straps held between said layers of said side walls and extending from the front of said side walls rearwardly and having free ends that extend at substantially right angles to said side walls and between said layers forming said partition where they are held, and a, connecting sheet attached to and extending from said front to and over the portion of said bottom forward of said partition and thence between said layers forming said partition where it is held.
