This invention relates to a suspender garment for ladies, and has for its chief object to provide a form of garment which is adapted to support the stockings and to serve as an alternative to the present brassire and suspender belt. A further object of the invention is to provide a garment designed in such a manner that it affords complete freedom of movement to the body without placing undue strain upon the stockings.

A garment according to the invention comprises a brassiere portion, a seat panel supported from the brassiere portion, and a plurality of suspenders by which the stockings can be supported directly or indirectly from the seat panel.

In order that the invention may be more clearly understood and readily carried into effect, reference is now made to the accompanying drawing which illustrates one embodiment of the improved garment, and in which:

In the drawing, the brassire portion is indicated at I. This portion can be made to any desired pattern and of any chosen material. The brassiere portion is supported on the body by means of a series of straps. For this purpose there are two shoulder straps 2 of ribbon or tape or other suitable material, preferably of a nonstretch nature, these straps being secured to the upper front points 3 of the brassiere portion and, after passing over the shoulders, being connected at the back to rings 1 of metal, bone or other suitable material, said rings lying against the shoulder blades as indicated in Figure 2.

From the rings I extend downwardly two auxiliary straps 2a which are joined to aring 4 of metal, bone or other suitable material lying at the centre of the back and just above the waistline. The auxiliary straps 211 may be of the same material as the straps 2. There are also two side straps 5 of ribbon or tape or other suitable material, preferably of a non-stretch variety, these straps being secured to the end corners 6 of the brassiere portion, then extending rearwardly and upwardly part-way over the shoulder blades and being secured to the rings 1. The rings 1 are preferably situated at a point higher than the outer corners 6 of the brassire portion so that the straps 5 tend to give a slightly upward pull to the brassiere portion.

The shoulder straps 2 and the side straps 5, as well as the auxiliary straps 2a, may have suitable means for adjustment if desired.

The seat panel is indicated at 8. It covers 'erably of elastic fabric.

the posterior and, in the vertical sense, extends downwardly from about the waist-line to a point just below the posterior, while in the lateral sense it extends over the sides towards the front of the body ending in points 9 which are spaced from each other so as to leave the panel open at the front. The seat panel is made of any suitable material, either stretchable or nonstretchable, or part-stretchable and part-non stretchable, and lined with some extra. strong non-stretch material or otherwise according to choice.

The seat panel 8 is supported from the brassiere portion l by means of a series of straps. There are two straps 10 secured to the lower front edge of the brassiere portion at the points I I (Figure 1), these straps extending downwardly and joining the upper edge of the seat panel at the sides, so thatthey diverge as indicated in Figure 1. There are also two straps l2 at the back (Figure 2), these straps being secured to the ring 4 and thence extending downwardly and outwardly and joining the upper edge of the seat panel.

If desired, the two straps l2 may be replaced by a single strap extending vertically downwards from the ring 4 to the upper edge of the seat panel 8.

The straps l0 and I2 for positioning the seat panel relatively to the brassiere portion are pref- They may have means for adjustment.

The rings 1 and 4 may be dispensed with, in which event the joining together of the various straps at the places occupied by the rings will be effected by sewing or by other suitable means in place of said rings. In this case, each of the shoulder straps can be extended so that their lower portions take the place of the auxiliary straps 2a.

To retain the seat panel 8 against the posterior, there is provided a small panel 13 of suitable material, which may be of a stretchable or non-stretchable character (Figure 1). This panel is arranged centrally at the front of the garment and is situated below the points 9 of the seat panel, being held in position by means of two straps [4 of any suitable material, either non-stretchable or elastic fabric, which extend from the points 9 of the seat panel to the top corners of the panel Hi. The straps I4 may be adjustable.

The garment illustrated has four suspenders for the stockings. Two of these suspenders, indicated at l5 in Figure I, hang from the lower corners of the small front panel l3 and are adapted to be fastened by means of suspender clips to the upper parts of the stockings H5 at the front thereof, While the remaining two suspenders I! (Figure 2) hang from the corners 18 of the lower edge of the seat panel 8 and are adapted to be fastened by like means to the upper parts of the stockings at or towards the back thereof.

The suspenders l5 and I! may be of any suitable construction. Preferably they are of conventional form, namely, of elastic fabric with the usual stocking clips and means. for taking up slackness due to repeated stretching.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

1. A suspender garment for ladies, comprising in combination a brassiere portion, a seat panel open at the front, shoulder straps connected to the upper part of the brassiere portion andjoined to rings at the back, side straps connected to the lateral parts of the brassiere portion and joined to said rings, auxiliary straps extending from said rings and joined to a centrally disposed ring, at least one strap extending from the centrally disposed ring to the seat panel, straps connected to the lower part of the brassiere portion and to the seat panel, a front panel connected to the seat panel and adapted to retain the latter against the posterior, and suspenders carried by the seat panel and front panel for supporting the stockings.

2. A suspender garment for ladies, comprising in combination a brassiere portion, a seat panel open at the front, a pair of shoulder straps connected to the upper part of the brassiere portion and joined together at the back, side straps connected to the lateral parts of the brassiere portion and joined to the shoulder straps at the back, at least one strap secured to the shoulder straps at their juncture and to the seat panel, straps connected to the lower part of the brassiere portion and to the seat panel, a front panel connected to the seat panel and adapted to retain the latter against the posterior, and suspenders carried by the seat panel and front panel for supporting the stockings.
