It contemplates moreespccially the provision of an improved le holder' for sharpening saws and similar tools in a much more effective manner `Without entailing as much time or skill.

Then, too, each technician such as a carpenter employs a different saw-cut `adapted to his particular requirement and stroke. This requires adjustability in the file holding `device so that various angles `maybeirnpartedto. the cutting edge of the saw with `precision `and uniformity throughout thelength thereof. t Angular adjustment of the le holders andthe utilization of a guide so that successive teeth will be uniform in any predetermined angularity enables the sharpening on the :job with precision by those who are not especially skilled in use of sharpening operations. A file holder and guide has been provided as adjustable within a wide range to meet the dictates of any particular technician or the varied requirements in effectively utilizing hand or power saws. n 1- One object of the present invention is `to simplify the construction and improve the operation of devices of the character mentioned. Another object is to provide a plurality of file holders that are capable of being spaced in angular adjustment so that one may be utilized as a guide for the other in sharpening saws and the like. 1

u The illustrated embodiment comprises a manual grasping handle I0 which may be shaped or constructed from wood or` other suitable material depending upon the choice of the i user. The handle I0 is downwardly inclined `relative toa horizontal offset shank II which flares outwardly as at I2-I3 to merge with upstanding ears IIi-I 5 that are spaced from each other beyond the width of the narrow handle IIJ.
'Ihe` ears I4-'-I5 confront each other and `pro-` ject above the surface of the shank II to` freely receive an elongated screw I6 that :is journaled for rotation in the ears I4-I5. The screw I6 has oppositely pitchedthreads II-I 8 `provided thereon to extendfrom the opposite extremities thereof to the center I9 to effect the displacement of` le holders as will appear more fully hereinafter. In order to effect the rotation of the oppositely threaded rod or elongated screw I6,l a circular disc 20 having a knurled periphery 2| is attached to one extremity of the elongated screw I6, in this instance' `beyond the ear I4, to enable the manual rotation thereof and effect the opposite displacement of file holder mounts that are operatively connectedV thereto. i
To this `end,lfile holder mounts 22--23, in this instancetwo, comprise tubular cylindrical members (Figure 4) that are sized to receive the tapered shank 24 of suitable ,files 25 which, in this instance, are of triangular cross-section.
