BOOT OR SHOE HANGER Filed Dec. 30, 1943 In ventor Patented May 15, 1945 Application December 30, 1943, Serial No. 516,268
1 Claim.
The present invention relates to newand useful improvements in boot or shoe hangers, and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, novel means whereby a pair of boots, or shoes, may be conveniently suspended in an inverted position from a clothes rack or other suitable support.
Another very important object of the invention is to provide a hanger of the aforementioned character which embodies unique means for firmly gripping the boots or shoes between the Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a boot n or shoe hanger constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary view in side elevation, showing a boot suspended from one end portion oi the hanger.
Figure 3 is a view in end elevation of the device.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment oi the invention which has been illustrated comprises a metallic rod I. At an intermediate point, the rod l is turned in a manner to provide an upstanding loop' 2. The rod I terminates, at its ends, in depending eyes 3. A hook 4 is connected to the legs 'I extendfrom the ends of the coils 6, said legs including diverging free end portions 8 which terminate in inturned or reversed loops constituting what may be considered jaws 9.
It is thought that the manner in which the hanger is used will be readily apparent from a I consideration of the foregoing. Briefly, the pairs of jaws 9 of the clamps 5 are normally closed, as
seen in Figure 1 of the drawing. To mount a boot, for example, as at It, on the hanger, the
upper portions of the crossed legs 1 of one of the clamps 5 are squeezed together, thus openends of the rod I.
It is believed that the many advantages of a boot or shoe hanger constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily underloop 2 ior suspending the rod I from a clothes rack or other suitable support.
Duplicate clamps 5 are loosely suspended from the eyes 3 or the rod I. The clamps 5 are each formed from a single length 0! suitable resilient wire having iormed at an intermediate point a coil I in which the eyes 3 are engaged. Crossed stood, and although a preferred embodiment of the device is asdllustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
A boot or shoe hanger of the character described comprising a metallic rod having an upstanding loop midway its length, a hook loosely connected to the loop for suspending the rod from an overhead support, depending eyes atends of the rod disposed transversely thereof, and clamps loosely suspended from the eyes for suspending a pair of boots or shoes from the rod, said clamps each being formed from a single length of resilient wire bent midway its length to form a coiled spring engaged through eyes of said rod and legs extending downwardly from the opposite sides 01 the coil, said legs having their lower portions bent to extend in crossed relation to each other and terminating in inwardly extending horizontally disposed loops pro- Jecting toward each other and constituting laws for gripping a. shoe from opposite sides of its sole
