Description

UNITED" STATES PATENT OFFICE.'
JOHN R. ROCHELLE, OF GONZALES, TEXAS.
VEHICLE-AXLE LUBRICATO R.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 236,958, dated January 25, 1881.
Application filed June 26, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHN B. ROCHELLE, of Gonzales, in the county of Gonzales and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Axle-Lubricators; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, .and exact description of the invention, which *Will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawin gs, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates'to axle-lubricato'rs; and it consists in the improvements in the construction of the same, hereinafter fully described, and particularlypointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view, in perspective, of an axle-lubricator embodying the improvements in my invention. Fig. 2 is avertical longitudinal sectional view, and Fig. 3 is an end elevation.
Referring by letter to the drawings, A designates, a semi-tubeshaped arm, which fits upon the axle and is secured thereto by the ordinary band or clip. A sand-band, B, is
formed with or secured to the arm A, and when in place is coveredby the hub-band.
O designates the oil-cup, provided with a screw-cap, D.
E designates a tube leading from the bottonrof the oil-cup, to conduct the oil to the spindle, and said tube E is passed through a (N0 model.)
hole or groove drilled or out in the shoulderband or collar of the axle.
'lhe oil-cup O has a screw-connection, F, at its base, in order that it may be removed at any time when it may become necessary for the purpose of cleaning the tube E, which maybe accomplished by passing a wire through the tube. The tube is incased in a hose, G, of textile fabric, which feeds the oil gradually from the end of the tube to the spindle.
From the foregoing description the operation of the device will be readily understood.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In an axl'e lubricator, the combination of the arm A, sand-band B, and oil-cup 0, provided with the tube E, constructed and operating substantially as set forth.
2. In an'aXle-lubricator, the combination, with a sand-band having arm A, provided with tube E and screw-connection F, of an oil-cup adjusted in said screw-connection, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN RUGELEY ROCHELLE.
