. is to provide a holder which can be used for holding brushes on paint cans or used in conjunction with other structure for supporting paint brushes and like handled implements.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following description.
In the drawings- Figure 1 represents a side elevational view of the holder supporting a brush yand showing a paint can in vertical section.
Figure 2 is a front elevational View of the holder shown supporting a brush and in conjunction with a paint can shown in vertical section.
Figure 3 is a front elevational View of the holder.
Figure 4 is a top plan view of the holder.
Figure 5 is a side elevational view of the holder.
Figure 6 is a side elevational View of a holder shown supported by a paint can, the latter being shown in vertical section.
Figure 7 is a vertical sectional view through a paint can showing the holder in front elevation and supporting a paint brush.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 represents a paint bucket, while numeral 6 shows the improved holder.
The holder 6 is constructed of a single length of spring steel rod material and as shown in Figure 3, is first formed at its intermediate portion to provide an ovate-shaped loop 1. The remaining portions of the rod are brought together for some distance as at 8, 8 and then bent backwardly as at 9, 9. The convergence can clearly be seen in Figure 5 and these portions 8, 8 and 9, 9 serve as a spring clip in holding the holder over the edge of a paint can 5, as shown in Figure 6.
The free end portions of the portions 9, 9, are bent laterally as at I0, I0 and their terminal portions are curved outwardly as at Il and inwardly as at l2 to define a clip for engaging the handle 'A of a paint brush B or the handle of some other tool, regardless of whether the holder A is supported by hanger element C supported on the wall or elsewhere or whether the clip structure 8, 8 and 9, 9 is used over the edge portion of a can 5.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
A holder comprising an elongated element of spring material formed at its intermediate portion to provide a loop, said element having its side portions brought together side by side beyond the loop and then bent backwardly in converging relation with respect to the said brought together portions to dene an attaching clip, said element at its free end portions being disposed laterally side by side at right angles to the loop and said free end portions having terminals of compound curvature forming between the same 35 a second clip for supporting an article therein.
