. vThe main object of this invention vis to constructla dispenser of the class referred to which will be especially adapted for use in connection withiiuiddentifrices and particularly useful in applying such dentifrices to tooth brushes.
The second object is to lconstruct a container of the type referred to which will be simple to manufacture, fool-proof in operation and at the same time Will provide an adjustment for -controlling the desired amount of liquid dispensed thereby.
The third object is to-so construct a dispenser that it will vbe practically leak-proof and in which the dispensing rate can be easily and quickly controlled from the exterior thereof without the use of tools of any form. l
The fourth object is to construct a device of the class referred to which will be easy to mount on any desired surface.
These and other objects are accomplished in the manner set forth in the following specification as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the device.

Fig. 3 is a plan of the device.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary section taken along the line 4-4 in Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary section taken along the line 5-5 in Fig. 4.
Fig. 6 is a horizontal section taken along the line 6-6 in Fig. 2.
Fig. 7 is a vertical section taken along the line 1-1 in Fig. 4.
Fig. 8 is a horizontal section taken along the line 8-8 in Fig. 5.
Similar numerals refer to throughout the several views.
Referring in detail to the drawing, there is shown a base I0 from which projects the horizontal, cylindrical body II near whose outer end I2 is formed the Vertical body I3 which is cylindrical in form and provided at its lower threaded end I4 with a pointed cap I 5 whose pointed end I6 is provided with an outlet opening Il.
The upper threaded end I8 of the body I3 has mounted therein a reservoir I9 which may be of any desired shape without departing from the spirit of this invention. Since these parts are preferably made of plastic or non-corrosive material, it is desirable to thread a dome shaped cap 20 on the reservoir I9 which cap is provided with similar parts a threaded stopper 2I preferably containing an air vent 22. 'I'he'end I 2 is vprovided'with a cylindrical recess 23 in which slidably and rotatably fits the cylindrical push butto-n 2 4 in whose threaded interior 25 is placed the threaded shank 26 of the flat actuating Slide 2l whoseinclined surface 28 engages the rounded edge29 of the slot 39 formedin the plunger 3I which is slidable within the' vertical opening 32 whose axis; passes through thecenter of the opening Il.
f A horizontal opening 33 is formed'gin the body II co-vaxial withl the pushv button 24. In the opening 33, is disposed a small plunger 34 which engages the end35 of the member 21. Key slots/'36am formedin the opening 33 ,tore-v, ceive the edges 3l of the end 35.' A spring 38A is disposed within the opening 33 and urges the plunger 34 against the end 35 of the member 2l.
A spring 39 on top of the plunger 3| urges the same downwardly.
On the threaded end 40 of the plunger 3l is screwed the needle point 4I which serves as a closure for the dispenser opening by seating between the converging sides 42 of the cap I5.
A leather, or other suitable packing ring 43 is placed around the reduced end 44 of the needle point 4I and fits snugly within the opening 32.
Passageways 45 connect the reservoir I9 with the chamber 48 formed within the cap I5, thereby permitting liquid to flow into the cap.
It is desirable to provide an air vent 46 between the opening 33 and the recessed portion 4l of the base I0 to` prevent pressures from being built up within the opening 33.
The operation of the device is as follows:
Assuming that it is desired to dispense a liquid dentifrice from the container I9 to the tooth brush 49, the user merely presses a linger 5D against the push button 24 causing the inclined surface 28 to force the plunger 3| upwardly and thereby withdraw the pointed end 4I from the closing position andpermitting the dentifrice to pass downwardly through the opening Il to the brush 49. The liquid will run through the opening Il as long as the push button 24 is pushed in as suggested.
If it is desired to vary the rate of flow, it is only necessary to turn the push button 24 Ito the right or left as indicated by the arrows'5l inscribed on the face 52. e
Since the edges 31 of the member 2l are disposed With the key slots 36, they will prevent the member 2l from turning. They are assisted in this action by the fact that the member 21 passes through the slot 3U which in most cases would be sucient for this purpose.
While I have thus illustrated and described my invention, it must be understood that numerous changes may be made in the detail thereof without departing from the spirit. It is therefore not my intention to be limited to the details shown herein but I intend, rather, to cover such forms and modications as fall fairly within the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A liquid dispenser having a reservoir at the top thereof having a liquid storing chamber disposed below said reservoir and communicating therewith, said liquid storing chamber having an outlet opening in the bottom thereof, a vertical, slidable needle valve adapted to control said opening, the stem of said needle valve having a slot formed therethrough and a horizontal slidable plunger extending through said slotl and having an inclined upper edge adapted to support said needle valve, and a spring urging said needle valve downwardly.
2. A device of the class described consisting of a horizontal body having a reservoir` mounted on the Itop side and a `liquid storing chamber on its underside communicating with said reservoir, said reservoir having a downwardly discharging opening at its lowermost point, a vertically slidable needle valve mounted Vin said body having a spring associated therewith adapted to urge said needle valve to a'rclosing position, the body of said valve having a slot formed therethrough, a plunger passing through said slot having an inclined upper edge upon which said needle valve rests, a spring for urging said plunger in a direction which will cause said needle valve to move toward a closing position, a push button for actuating said plunger and means for controlling the action of said push button against said plunger.
3. A device of the class described having a horizontal, cylindrical body adapted to be mounted against a wall, an axial opening extending through said body, a vertical opening extending through said body and intersecting said axial opening, a cylindrical needle valve stem mounted in said vertical opening having a point formed on its lower end and having a spring at its upper end for urging same downwardly, said shank having a slot formed therethrough registering with the horizontal opening in said body, a pointed cap disposed on the lower side of said body forming a liquid containing cavity having an outlet opening on its pointed lowermost end adapted to be closed by said needle point, said body having vertical openings therein communicating between said reservoir and the interior of said pointed cap, a horizontal plunger in said axial opening extending through said stem slot, the plunger portion within said stem slot having an inclined part, said plunger having a spring at one end thereof adapted to urge said plunger in a direction which will allow the stem to descend to a valve closing position, said plunger having one end thereof threaded to receive a push button whereby said plunger may be actuated for the purpose of raising said needle valve a predetermined distance and whereby the extent of said raising may be governed by said push button.
