UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIcE ELIZABETH FORD, OF PELLVILLE, KENTUCKY.
BRUSH FOR GREASING GRIDDLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 227,235, dated May 4, 1880.
Application led March 22, 1880.
To all whom it may concern Be. it known that I, ELIZABETH FORD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pellville, in the county ot Hancock and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brushes for Greasing Griddles; and I do hereby declare-the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as willenable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a partot' this specification.
This invention has for its object to provide an improved griddle-greaser for domestic purposes. This object I accomplish by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in whichl Figure l represents a detached view of' a portion of my device, partly in section and partly in elevation. Fig. 2 represents a viewr in elevation of a portion of my device. Fig. 3 represents a section on the line x x of Fig. 2. Fig. A represents a horizontal section of a detached part of the device; and Fig. 5 represents a view of the exterior vessel, partly in section and partly in elevation.
The letter A indicates a tube of metal or o ther material, split lon gi tudinally and adapted to contain a llin g, B, otbrous strands orlampwick, as shown. The said tube has a certain amount of elasticity and is adapted to be se- (No model.)
cured in a tube, (l, by Which it is compressed around the filling B, so as to securethe same. The tube Ois adapted to'hold a quantity of lard or other grease, which is carried by capillary attraction of the wick to the outer end of the same, so that the lard or grease may be applied to a griddle or other article by brushingthe exposed end ofthe filling over the same.
The letter E indicates a vessel provided with a hinged cover, F, having an opening through which the tube O may be inserted when the cover is closed. The said vessel is adapted to contain lard or other similar material, by means of' which the end of the tilling may be properly supplied independently of the charge of material in the tube O.
As the lling becomes Worn at the end it may be withdrawn from time to time, thus providing a fresh portion thereofl so long as any of the material remains.
Having described my invention, what I claim is- The combination of the split tube A, carrying a capillary lling, with the tube O, for containing lard or other material, substantially as specied.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
ELIZABETH FORD.
