It is to be understood that I do not Wish to be limited by the exact embodiments of the device a' shown which are merely by Way of illustration and not limitation asvarlous and other forms of the device will, of course, be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the claims.
I claim:
1. In a quick wheel change truck, a truss side frame having a top member, a bottom member and spaced columns dening therebetween a bolster opening, guide means on said columns, a spring seat on said bottom member beneath said opening, resilient meansseated thereon, interlocking means positioned on said resilient means and having engagement with said guide means, a bolster end seated on said interlocking means and having widened portions engaging Sad guide means, whereby said bolster end. and said interlocking means cooperate as a unit with said guide means, said guide means being spaced from said top member a distance approximately equal to the depth of said widened portion, whereby said bolster may be raised and disengaged from said guide means while said interlocking means remains in normal operative position in engagement with said guide means, and means including a central boss on said interlocking means for securing said interlocking means to said bolster so that when said bolster disengages with said guide means the engagement of said interlocking means with said guide means prevents accidental disengagement of said bolster and side frame;
2. In a quick wheel change truck, a truss side frame having a top member, a bottom member and spaced columns forming therebetween a bolster opening, guide means on said columns, a spring seat on said bottom member beneath said opening, resilient means seated thereon, interlocking means positioned on said resilient means and cooperating with said guide means, a bolster end seated on said interlocking means v'and vengaging said guide means, whereby said interlocking means and said bolster end cooperate as a unit with said guide means, said guide means being spaced from said top member a distance such that said bolster end may be raised and disengaged from said side frame while said interlocking means remains in normal operative position in engagement with said guide means, andsafety means cooperating with said bolster end and said interlocking means to prevent accidental dismantling of said bolster end and said'side frame when said bolster is raised to its maximum vertical position, said safety means comprising a boss centrally located on said interlocking means and extending through the bottom wall of .said bolster end for securement therewith'. l l
3. In a four wheel truck, a side frame having a top member, a bottom member, and spaced column guides defining a bolster opening, a bolster end with a central reinforcing rib projecting through said opening and having approximately the top half thereof widened to form lateral shelves, guide flanges on said columns, channels on said widened portions having engagement with said guide flanges, and an interlocking member having its ends seated against said shelves and lpresenting channels in alignment with said be- 'forementioned channels and also having engagev ment with said flanges, said guide iianges being spaced from the tops of said columns a distance approximately equal to the depth of said shelves whereby said bolster end may-be elevated from said interlocking member and disengaged from said guide flanges while said interlocking member remains in normal operating position, and a central upstanding boss on said interlocking member projecting within said bolster end into a relieved portion of said central rib and adapted to receive means securing said interlocking member to said bolster for preventing accidental dismantling of said bolster and side frame when said bolster disengages from said guide flanges.
4. In a four Wheel truck, a side frame having a top member, a bottom member, and spaced column guides dening a bolster opening, a bolster end with a central vertical rib projecting through said opening and having approximately the top half thereof widened to form lateral sh'elves, guide flanges on said columns, channels on said widened portions having engagement with said guide iianges and an interlocking member having its ends seated against said shelves andl presenting channels in alignment with said before-mentioned channels and also having engagement with said flanges, said guide an'ges being spaced from the tops of said columns a distance approximately equal to the depth of said shelves whereby said bolster end may be elevated from said interlocking member and disengaged from saidfguide flanges while said interlocking member Aremains in normal operating position, and a central member on said interlocking memberV projecting through the bottom wall of said bolster, accommodated within a relieved portion in said central rib, and adapted to receive means securing said interlocking member to said bolster end whereby accidental dismantling of said bolster and side frame is prevented when said bolsterjdisengages from said guide flanges,
