Claims.

This invention relates to a pastry board and has for its general object the provision of such a board which will greatly facilitate the rolling of pastry.

A more specific object of this invention is to provide a pastry board which will not slide upon a supporting surface while in use.

Another object of this invention is to provide such a board which cannot be rotated accidentally while in use.

Another object of this invention is to provide such a board which may be easily rotated without being shifted-laterally in order to facilitate the rolling of pastry.

Another object of this invention is to provide a board of the type described which may be used on any supporting surface desired without danger of scratching or marring such surface.

Another object of this invention is to provide a board of the type set forth with a readily removable and replaceable cloth or similar covermg.

Another object is to provide a board which will serve as a guide in the rolling of pastry or the like.

Other objects and advantages will become apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.

In the drawing- Fig. 1 is a side view partly in elevation and partly in vertical cross section illustrating a board constructed in accordance with this invention.

Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of the same structure.

The pastry board proper, which may be constructed of wood or any other suitable substance, is indicated by the numeral I. This board is provided with upper and lower substantially fiat surfaces 2 and 3 and it is of substantially circular outline. Around its periphery this board is provided with an annular groove 4 which serves to receive a draw string or elastic band 5. This elastic band or draw string is connected with the outer margin of a cloth or similar covering 6 which is held thereby in a taut position over the top surface 2 of the board. This cloth or similar covering facilitates the rolling of the pastry in a well known manner.

On the lower surface of the board it is provided at a plurality of points adjacent its periphcry with bufiers and knobs l which are preferably of rubber or similar material that will serve as a cushion support upon the surface upon which the board is to be supported and which will at the same time prevent slippage upon that surface. Preferably there are three of these knobs or supports 1 so that the board will always rest evenly and will not rock.

Centrally of the bottom of the board there is a slight depression 8 in which is secured by means of screws 9 or the like a supporting and anchoring plate [0. This anchoring plate has an opening centrally thereof and extending through this opening is an anchor bolt II which is securely mounted in a resilient suction cup I 2 of well known construction. The suction cup I2 is of such dimensions and is so positioned that when the board is placed upon a smooth flat surface and pushed down and then released, the suction cup will support the board so that the knobs I are just out of engagement or very loose- 1y engaged with the fiat support. As will be seen, the suction cup is rotatably mounted with respect to the board by the construction just described.

In operation, the board is placed upon a supporting surface in the manner illustrated in Fig. 1 and the rolling of pastry or similar substance is begun. In the rolling operation the board is naturally pushed down to compress the suction cup 12 and thus press the knobs 1 firmly into contact with the supporting surface. This prevents the board from either slipping or rotating with respect to the supporting surface during use. When pressure is released, the suction cup l2 will continue to prevent the board from slipping but it will lift the board slightly so as to permit the board to be rotated thus placing the pastry and board in a new desirable position with respect to the person doing the rolling. The board will thus be firmly and adequately positioned during the rolling operation yet readily rotatable to a new position immediately when pressure is released from its upper surface. On the otherhand, it can never slide laterally during use or during its rotation because of the action of the suction cup. The board, due to its circular shape, will serve as a guide in rolling round pastries, and will be substantially balanced on its central support at all times.

It will be appreciated that the foregoing is by way of illustration and example only and is not intended as a limitation upon the scope of this invention. The invention is to be limited only by the prior art and by the terms of the appended claims.

' Having described my invention, I claim:

1. In a device of the character described, a

board having a fiat surface, a central rotatable support on said board opposite said flat surface, and a plurality of additional supports on said board spaced about said rotatable support.

2. In a device of the character described, a board having a flat surface, a central rotatable support on said board opposite said fiat surface, and a plurality of additional supports on said board spaced about said rotatable support, said rotatable support being deformable and being normally of such extent as to maintain said other supports just out of contact with the supporting surface.

3. In a device of the character described, a disc like body member, a support for said body member rotatably mounted centrally of one surface thereof and projecting axially therefrom,

and a plurality of additional supports'for said" body member spaced about said rotatable sup-,7

port and extending from said body' member a distance slightly less than the normal extent of "said rotatable support.

4. In combination, a flat body member of disc like form, a suction cup rotatably mounted centrally of one face of said body and projecting therefrom, and a plurality of additional supports spaced about said suction cup and projecting from the said face of said body, said suction cup normally projecting from said body a slightly greater distance than said additional supports.

5. In combination, a fiat disc like body member, a rotatable support, centrally of one face thereof and projecting therefrom, and three additional supports spaced about said rotatable sup- ,port and projecting from the same face of said being deforn'ra'ble to permit said additional supports to come in contact with the flat surface on which said rotatable support is adapted to rest.
