IMPROVEMENT IN REMOVABLE BOOK-COVERSY Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 2] 3,403, dated March 18, 1879 application filed July 17, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES H. DRAKE, of Shamokin, in the county of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Removable Book-Covers, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a view of a book with cover attached. Fig. 2 is a View of cover detached; Fig. 3, the filling, showing arrangement for attaching to cover; and Fig. 4, a view of detached parts.
The object of my invention is to furnish a device by which the cover or binding of books may be removed when the book is filled, and placed upon another book orfillingin a secure manner. a
In the drawings, A A represent metal strips, with slots 00; B B, corresponding metal strips, with T-shapcd upright movable studs attached to flexibly-hinged Wings connected to the fillin g at the inner edge of its back.
The studs on strips B pass through the slots in strips A, and turn to secure a fastenmg.
Strips A and B may be reversed from outside cover to inside of false cover.
0 represents the movable studs. D is a false or inside cover, to protect the book when removed from the outside cover or binding. E is a lock-spring attached to metal strip A, locking the strips into position automatically.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the metal strips A, provided with slots F, lock-spring E, the metal strips B, having movable studs O, with theinner and outer covers of a book, whereby a speedy and substantial means of attaching or removing the cover is attained.
