COMBINED BOLLS VALISE AND EABY CARRIAGE Harry Fleisig, Long Beach, N. Y.
Application July 2, 1936, Serial No. 88,607
2 Claims.
This invention relates to a combined dolls valise and baby carriage.
The object of the invention is the production of a dolls valise, which can be converted to function as a baby carriage, and which can be moved by a handle member extending to the rear of the Valise, or which can be pulled by means of a strap or cord connected to the handle at the front of said valise.
The second object of the invention is the production of a valise which has detachable wheels journaled thereto.
The third object of the invention is the production of a dolls valise having a body portion with a cover and which body portion is adapted to hold a cradle, a doll and clothing for the latter.
In the accompanying drawing Fig. 1 shows a side view of the combined dolls valise and baby carriage in its open position; Fig. 2 represents a top view of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a right hand view of a fragmentary portion of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 shows a front view of the combined dolls valise and baby carriage in closed position; Fig. 5 shows a side View of a cradle; Fig. 6 is an end View of Fig. 5; and Fig. 7 indicates an enlarged section of Fig. 1 on the line 1, i.
The valise comprises the body portion l8, having the outer front wall Zil, the outer rear wall 2!, the outer side walls 22 and 23 and the bottom wall 24. With the body portion is also indicated the inner front wall 3, the inner rear wall 3! and the inner side walls 32 and 33. The walls 30, 3|, 32 and 33 extend above the walls of the outer body portion. The walls 22 and 32 are connected by the eyelet 36 and the walls 23 and 33 are connected by a similar eyelet 31. Through the side walls 22 and 32 extends the eyelet 33 and through the side walls 23 and 33 extends the eyelet 39.
To the front wall 20 is fastened the body portion 43 of a latch and its swinging locking member 44. A handle 55 is hinged to the wall 20, and a strap or cord 43 may extend from said handle.
To the body portion i8 is hinged the cover 5!], by means of the hinges 5E. The cover is shown with the front wall 55, the rear wall 55, the side Walls 51 and 58 and the top wall 59. The walls 32 and 51 are connected by the band 63, and the walls 33 and 58 are connected by the band 64. Through the top wall 59 of the cover extend the similar eyelets 65.
To the top wall 59 of the cover 58 is adjustably connected a hood ill, which comprises the normally horizontal member 13 and the member M inclined thereto. At the junction of the members'lB and i l is indicated the curved connecting portion it. In this instance the member id of the hood it is fastened to the Wall 55 of the cover Sibley means of the eyelets it The member id is cut away as indicated at E8 to form the suppcrting members 19. The latter in the present exemplification are shown at right angles to the member M to support the member it, but can be swung in line with the member li to be enabled to lower the member it.
To the front wall 55 of the cover 59 is fastened the upper member ill of the latch. A. cover or curtain comprises the body portion iii, the depending front portion 32 and the depend-- ing side portions 533. The body portion Bl is fastened to the member 13.
A detachable supporting frame comprises the handle member from which extend the side members 85. At the ends of the members .86 are shown hook members til. When the valise is to function as a baby carriage with. the cover 50 in its open position, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the side members of the detachable supporting frame are passed through the eyelets 35, and the hook members Bl are forced into the eyelets 38 and 39. By this means the cover 59 is sup ported and maintained in its open position. In the open position of the cover 595, as described, a child can move the valise and baby carriage by grasping the handle member 35 or by pulling the rope 55. When the valise is its closed position, as shown in Fig. 4, the frame having the handle member may be placed therein.
Wheels for the body portion is are indicated at 88. Through each wheel tightly extends an eyelet 89 with the flanges 92 and iii. An eyelet 92 open at one end and having the head 253 extends through each eyelet 3d, and through the adjacent pair of side walls 23 and 33 of the body portion iii. A cap 93 is indicated with the turned in flange 535. The latter bears against the head d3.
A fastener is shown with the head at and the flexible clamping members Ql. The head 8% bears against the head 93 and the members it! extend through the eyelet 92. bears against the inner side wall of the body portion l8 and has an opening for the clamping members 97., which extend. through said opening and are detachably pressed against the outer face of the said washer 98.
It will be noted that each of the wheels can be easily detached from the body portion it, by bending up the clamping members 9'8 and then pulling the wheels from said body portion. The
' wheels can then be placed in said body portion.
A washer 98 4 A cradle is designated in its entirety by the numeral I05. The said cradle comprises the body portion having the front wall I08, the rear wall I09, the side walls H0 and the bottom wall H2. To the front wall I08 and the rear wall I09 are fastened the end members H3 having the curved lower ends H4, by means of the eyelet H5. Re-
iniorcing pads H6 are fastened to the end members H3.
In this instance the cradle I05 is indicated upside down in the body portion [8 of the valise to support it therein.
A pillow I20 is placed in the body portion and upon it is indicated a doll I25. Upon the bottom wall I I2 of the cradle is indicated a package I26 which contains clothing (not shown) for the doll.
Various modifications may be made in the invention and the present exemplification is to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. The combination of a valise having a body portion, a cover hinged to said body portion, wheels journaled to the body portion, a detachable supporting frame connecting said body portion and said cover, with the latter in its open position, said frame comprising a handle member spaced from the outer face of the said cover, side members extending from the handle member passing through openings in said cover and a hook member at the end of each side member detachably locked to said body portion.
2. The combination of a valise comprising a body portion having a front wall, a rear wall, side walls and a bottom wall, a cover hinged to the rear wall of the body portion, an eyelet ex-'
