' This invention relates to" improvements in sweater driers-andstretchers, and it is the par ticular object of the'invention to provide an improved relatively'inexpensive article of the above character which may be. used in drying sweaters and which will serve to prevent the'sweater from shrinking or becoming distorted while drying.

Another object is the provision of an improved sweater drier which, while providing the desired support for the sweater While it is drying, will not unduly retard the drying process.

Itis a further object of the invention to provide an improved sweater drier having removable sleeve supp rts so that the drier may be used with sleeveless sweaters or with sweaters pro-' vided with sleeves.

Among other objects is the provision of an im proved sweater drier which will not be injured by moisture and which is nevertheless of relatively light, compact construction, so that it'm-ay be folded into a relatively flat, small parcel when i not in use. U

.My improved drier preferably embodies a body portion In and sleeve supports II and l2 removably attached to thebody portion.. The body and sleeve supports are formed to the desired shape and size of the sweater to be dried thereon and are made of flat sheets-of light but strong material, such as cardboard, fiber board, pressed paper or the like, which is treated with parafiin or some similar substance so as to make the material water-repellent. 1

The body portion may be shaped as shown with rounded shoulders I4 and with a tapered relatively narrow waist l5. The sleeve supports are preferably of generally tapered construction as shown, and anydesiredftype' of releasable fastening means may be'e'mployed' forattaching the-sleeve supports to the body portion. How ever,;-'for 'thi's "purpos'e I prefertd em my. snap fasteners as shown at l6. So as to providecirculation of air and in'that way facilitate rapid drying of the sweater supported on the drier, I

provide both the sleeve supports and the body portion with perforations as shown at l8.

As "previously stated, my..-drier is preferably collapsible and can be folded into a relatively compact parcel when not in use. To accomplish this result Iprovide the center of the body portion with a transverse fold line l9, and I provide the sleeve supports with similar transverse fold lines 26. In this way, when the device is not in use the sleeve supports may be removed from the body portion and the respective parts can then be folded on the fold lines l9 and 20 so as to form a relatively small parcel, as shown in Figs. 3, 4, and 6'.

I have found that it is desirable to provide my drier with a hanger on which it may be supported when in use, and the hanger may take the form of a hooked projection 2| formed integral with the body portion l0 and extending upwardly therefrom at the center thereof. When the hanger is thus formed I preferably form a fold line 22 at the lower portion of the hanger so that the hanger maybe folded inwardly, as

shown in Figs. 3 and 4, whenthe device is not in use. Instead of forming the hanger integral strip of metal wire provided with a rounded hookat the top thereof, as shown at 23 in Figs. 7 and 8. When the hanger is thus formed it is preferably secured to the center of the body portion by a pin, rivet or the like, as shown at 26, so that it may pivot downwardly, as shown most clearly in Fig. 7.

k It will be appreciated that my improved sweater drier and stretcher should be made in various sizes and that in drying a sweater a drier of the proper size should be selected.

The use of my drier will be readily understood. will thus be seen that by means of my improved sweater drier a sweater can be dried in a relatively simple and convenient manner without shrinking and without being stretched or distorted. -If desired, advertising matter or instructions for washing sweaters, or for using the drier, may be printed on the surface of the drier.
