2 Claims.
The invention relates to an electric cable or wire hanger and more particularly to a wire stringing block.
The primary object of the invention is the prostringing of distribution wires on top of a cross arm or arms in proper position for tying to insulators the'said wires can be correctly distributed and also assures expeditiously the renewing or replacing of such wires in distribution construction andat the same time avoids the weatherproof wires from being worn fiat resultant from pulling over the cross arm or arms on. distribution thereof as well as reducing the danger of the wires being pulled from swinging into parallel wires carrying high voltage and thus making a safer operation to install new wires.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein, by reason of its construction, there is eliminated at least two climbs on each pole thus reducing the hazards of climbing as well as saving labor for the reason that wires when strung will be in position for tying to the insulators when pulled.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein the construction thereof eliminates the necessity of climbing poles to loosen wires that are sticking and cutting cross arm or armsythe wire 01 wires being readily placed on and removed from the rotary pulley constituting a part of the device and when upon this pulleywill. be maintained engaged therewith.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a deviceoi this character, which is simple in its construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in operation, readily and easily applied to the cross arm of a pole or other support for electric lines, cables, wires or the like and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses :the
preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates generally the device constructed in accordance with the invention which comprises an inverted substantially U-shaped frame or yoke iii adapted to receive therein a cross arm of a pole or other support for electric cables, wires or the like, a portion of the support being indicated at l l by dotted lines in Figure 2. This frame or yoke at one side thereof is provided with a pintle sleeve 2 for a cross pintle E3 of a binding or clamping bolt it, the sleeve being cut away at it; to allow swinging movement of the bolt it while the other side of said frame or yoke lb-has a seat or notch I53. therein opening'through the free edge of said side and accommodates the bolt it which carries an adjusting wing nut ll; Through the use of the bolt M with its nut ii and the mounting thereof on the frame or yokev Ill, the latter can be made secure to the cross arm El.
Rising from the frame or yoke ill at its top it is a pair of spaced upstanding bearing eheeksor ears It accommodating an axle 25 of a pulley wheel 2i, which is disposed between the cheeks or ears [9, and engageable within the peripheral grooved portion 22 of this pulley Al is a cable, wire or the like for the stringing thereof over the cross arm H, the cable being indicated at by dotted lines in Figures 2 and 3 of the drawing.
One cheek or car it has formed therewith a pintle sleeve 24 accommodating a cross pintle 25 of a bolt 26 which is accommodated in a notch or seat 21 provided in the other cheek or car it and this bolt has threaded thereon a winged nut 28 so that the bolt when in the seat or notch ill will overlie the pulley M or will be disposed crosswise of the peripheral groove 22 therein at the upper most point of said pulley and inthis way the cable, wire or the like 23 will be retained engaged upon the said pulley yet such cable, wire or the,
like is free to be pulled upon or slackened as the occasion may require.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that the device can be readily applied to a cross arm and tially U-shaped yoke formed from a strip-like piece of metal permanently closed at one end and open at the other for saddling a support, spaced parallel ears joined with the closed end of said yoke and outstanding therefrom, an axle separably mounted transversely of said ears, a pulley wheel journaled on said axle between the said ears, a T-shaped bolt forming a cross head pintle having hinge connection with one of said ears, the other of said ears being receptive of the said 'bolt when disposed crosswise of said ears, and a 2,188,715 r v p g Wing nut on said bolt for retainingthe same its crossed relation to the ears for the holding'of a v cable engaged with the pulley. 2.
