Karl DanielQ-Gologne-Sulz, Germany Application February 2'7, 1937, Serial No. 128,081 I Inger-many February 29,1936
This invention relates to'a sound recording and 5 supports a circular box-6 which is open on top sound reproducing device having an endless band-. and in the annular chamber of which the sound shaped sound record carrier rolled up into a roll record carrier rolled up into a roll I is positioned. and arranged on a horizontal rotatable support. The inner wall 26 and the outer wall 26a of the 5 In known devices. of this kind difiiculties arise annular chamber are outwardly inclined from the 5 with respect to insuring satisfactory motion of lower to the upper part, so that the guide ring the sound record carrier and perfect guiding of 26 shown in Fig. 2 is a part of the box 6 which the roll. i rotates with the plate 5.
The'invent ion proposes to eliminate these dif- From the zioll '1 the sound record carrier is ficulties by employing as support for .the roll a drawn out upwardly in a loop 8 through the open- 10 plate rotatable about a vertical axis and fitted ng 9 ofthe casing and Passed v the fi ed l e with an inner guide ring the walls of which diverge member l0, the toothed driving roller l I and the upwards according to the direction of motion of guide roller I2. As indicated in Fig. 3, the inthe. sound record carrier when running off from clination of the guide ring 26 corresponds to the the roll. The sound record carrier 8 is p e on the plate directly but in a cylindrical box which by the roller l1 firmly against the driving roller receives the sound carrier roll and, with the lat- H wh c is co p to n electromotol, o Shown, j Y ter, is disposed on the plate. In this manner it arranged in the casing l. Above the fixed slide becomes possible to employ for instance the same em er II. wh ch cons itu es the Cutting b o k, box in which the sound record carrier is sold for the sound box 18 is disposed and can be displaced 125 this purpose, the box being ready for operation on the. horizontal shaft l9 in-horizontal direcj after removal of its cover and after the loop has t on transversely to the direction of motion of been drawn out of the roll and passed over the the sound record carrier. The sound box 18 is guide wheels and the recording or reproducing provided with a cutting or recording stylus 20 and path. The insertion of'the sound record carrier, a reprod c stylus both Styluses having a which is so important for practical use, is thus Common holder 2 and beinginselted in the Sound 3 greatly facilitated. To insure compactness of box as a unit. Between the sound box l8 and the device without interfering with the inserthe driving roller H a roll 23 for rolling up cuttion of the sound record carrier'the plate is artings ligh ly rests on the ound record carrier ranged in a drawer of the device. and is capable of moving 'fleoiy p and wn as By way of example, the invention is illustrated eq according to t t c ness ofthe coiled 35 in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 up c in a l is a total view of the device according to the in- As shown in Fig. 2; the cutting block I!) is eccenvention; Fig, 2, a diagrammatic view of the beartrically journalled in the casing by means of the ing and guiding of the sound record carrier; and shaft 21. By turn g the cuttin block by 40 Fig. 3 is amodification, being a vertical longitudimeans of the opera handle 25 through 40 nal section of the drawer oi the device. it is possible in a simple manner to establish con- Referring to the drawing, the device is entact either with the cutting or recording stylus closed in a casing I, the front part 2 of which, 20 or with'the reproducing ty us The intershown in dotted lines, can be turned up so as medi te position is the zero position at which to expose to view both the sound record carrier both styluses are out-of engagement with the 45 and the sound box. The lower part of the casing I sound record carrier. k is occupied by a drawer 3 which can be drawn 7 A pin l-is a ti y pr s d a st an d out towards the front. In the drawer 3 a vertical f the sound re ord carrier 8 by ny suit ble axle 4 is provided around which a horizontal plate means not show in the drawing and after each or turntable 5 is adapted to turn. rotation of the endless carrier drops into a recess 50 In the construction shown in Fig. 2 the plate 5 in the edge of the carrier, whereby a contact is fitted with a non-rotatable inner guide ring 26 is closed (not shown) which effects the displace- A the walls of which incline outwardly from below ment of the sound box from one sound groove up. to the next. This arrangement is known in prior In the construction according to Fig. 3 the plate art and is not illustrated in detail. 55
It is evident that the sound record roll need not be arrangedabsolutely horizontally but, together with its support, may be disposed approximately so without departing from the spirit of the invention.
