This provides an inverted arch construction which contributes materially to the lateral stiffness of the base plate. rIhe base plate is further strengthened by means of a removable striking plate 6D which is secured to the under side of the base plate by means of bolts 62. Preferably this striking plate and the bolts are of the same composition as the body portion of the arm which thus contributes to lightness andrat the same time will form a comparatively soft striking face which wil?L not dull the edges ofv double-edged dies used in the machine, and which can readily be replaced when it becomes worn.
In order further to reinforce the body portion of the arm I have provided ribs 64 extending at a sharp inclination to the' central plate and outwardly to the side plates. I have provided similar ribs 56 extending from the centralplate to the side platesiand upwardly along the latter and then along the top plate back to the central plate. These ribs serve tostiifen the base plate and to prevent the top plate from buckling. They further serve to transmit pressure due to a load applied to the striking plate toward the central portion of the arm and in a rearward directionpthereby to cause the forces to traverse a path along the central plate toward the spindle where the greater portion of the mass of the arm is concentrated. There are additional ribs 68 extending from the central plate along the top plate and toward the side plates at points where the side plates are solid, there being vertical ribs 'Hi extending along the side plates for a further reinforcement. Ribs 72 extend along the base plate from the central plate 3E! to bosses M in which the U-'bolts 2Q are received. The top plate 39 is further stiffened near the bearing 26 by ribs "i6, I
In the operation of the machine, `the, arm il! is swung in the usual manner about the axis of rotation of the spindle l2 into position over a die located on sheetmaterial carried by the block i6 and is then depressed to force the die through theimaterial t produce a blank. The construction above described is such that a Vload applied to the under side lof the striking plate G0 will be transmitted through the more massive central and inner portions of the arm to the spindle with the result that the arm has great strength and rigidity in comparison to its weight. Furthermore, because of its light; construction and because of' the fact that the greater part of the mass of the arm is concentrated near the axis of rotation, the arm can `be swungv laterally across the block with little effort, and `can be readily stopped in operative position overthe work.
Having described my invention, what I-claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is: f

A hollow unitary presser member for a clicking machine comprisinga shell cast in one piece and having a. base portion, a top wall extending upwardly from the base portion, yside walls extending between thebase portion and the top wall, and a central reinforcing wall connecting the base portion and the top wall and partitioning the presser member longitudinally.
2. A hollow unitary presser member for a clicking machine comprising a shell cast in one piece and having a base portion, a top wall extending at an inclination to the base portion, side walls extending between the base portion and they top Wall, a central reinforcing wall connecting the base portion 4and the top wall and partitioning the presser member longitudinally, and reinforc-l ing ribs upon opposite sides of the central wall and extending along the inner faces of the top and side walls and the base portion.-
3. A presser member for a clicking machine comprising a hollow shell having a base portion, a top .wall extending at an inclination to the base portion, central and side walls extending between the top wall and the base portion, and
reinforcing ribs extending aboutl the inner faces of the top and side walls andthe base portion at an inclination to the central wall for transvmitting forces applied tothe base portion in directions rearwardly of the central wall.k
4. A presser member for a clicking machine comprising a hollow casting having a bearing portion, a base portion, a top wall extending outwardly from the bearing portion to the `outer part of the base portion, central and side walls joining the top wall and the base portion, and reinforcing ribsextending at inclinations to each other on opposite sides of the central wall and connecting the central wall to the side walls.
5. A presser member for a clicking machine comprising a hollow casting having a` bearing the base portion, and ribs extending along the base portion at inclinations to the upstanding wall for transmitting forces applied to the base portion rearwardly toward the bearing portion.

A presser member for a clicking machine comprising a casting having a bearing'portion, a base portion extending outwardly from the bearing portion, and an arched wall extending outwardly from the bearing-portion of the outer end of the base portion for transmitting forces applied to the base portion toward the bearing portion, the arched wall being of decreasing thickness outwardly of the bearing portion.
8. A presser member for clicking machines comprising an integral casting having abase plate, a top plate extending at an inclination to the base plate, central and top plates extending between the top plate and the base plate, and reinforcing ribs extending along the top plate, a side plate and the base plate and lying'substantially in planes extending at an inclination to the central plate for transmitting in directions rearwardly of the central plate forces applied to the base plate. k
9. A presser member for clicking machines comprising an integral casting having a base plate, a top plate inclined relatively to the base plate, central and side plates extending between the base plate and the top plate, and reinforcingy ribs extending from the central plate along the top plate, one of theside plates and the bottom plate at an `inclination to the central plate.
