' 4 claims. (01. ca -110) This invention relates to an improvement in refrigerators and more particularly to the machine compartment of'the refrigerator cabinet.
. The invention consists of the refrigerator cabinet comprising a food storage compartment having an evaporator and `a' machine compartment located preferably beneath the food storage compartment. 'I'he machine compartment houses a compressor-condenserunit which is connected to the evaporator by suitable piping. This ma-A chine compartment has all of its walls lined or covered with la suitable insulating substance for the purpose of absorbing noises and sounds created therein during the operationl of the compresser-condenser unit. The compartment is also provided in the wall thereof with intake and outlet openings or vents so that air may be circulated through' the compartment by a fan mounted within the compartment and which air is drawn through the intake opening through the condenser and then expelled from the compartment.
The invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combination of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in\ the claims.

The invention consists of 'a heat insulated refrigerating cabinet I provided'with a fo'odstorage comprtment3 inwhich is munteda conventional type of evaporator or cooler 5. f`A lheat insulated door I is provided for obtaining access to the food compartment. Located beneath the food compartment is a machine compartment I0. The outer wall vof the cabinet Il is preferably constructed` of metal and theinner surface off the compartment III; that is, the top, bottom and side walls are lined with a suitable acoustic insulating material I2, of a characterwhich will absorb noises. sounds and the like created in the machine compartment. This compartment has all of its walls tightly sealed by this insulating material excepting for an air inlet opening or vent 9 and an outlet'o'penir or vent I I formed inthe rear wall thereof. It is to be understood that a door of suitable construction may be formed in a Wall for obtaining access to the machine parts if desired.
Mounted within the machine compartment I0 is a refrigerant compressor 2| preferably are` ranged adjacent the intake opening 9. Associatedwith the compressor is acondenser I1 which may be 'of afinned coil construction. VThe vcoridenser is mounted in the compartment I0 and interposed betweenthe compressor and opening 9, and extending from the edges of the inlet Vvent 9 to the edges of the^` condenser Il is a exible sleeve I9 for directing the flow of air through the condenser II. The exible sleeve I3 may be of a. brous or non-fibrous material such as canvas, rubber or the like. n r
Mounted within the compartment I0 and positioned in alignment with the outlet opening II is a motor`f23. The motor 23 is providedl with a shaft 2l having a fan 25 mounted thereon.` This fanis preferably positioned Within the opening I I. v
Mounted upon the shaft 21 isa pulley 29 over which travels-a belt 28 which may be of V cross section. This belt passes over a pulley'l carried by the compressor 2l whereby the compressor may be driven.
The compressed refrigerant is delivered by 'means of a pipe 35 from the compressor 2|v to the condenser I1 and thence by pipe 3l to a high smide oat valve receiver 3 9 and then bymeans of a conduit or pipe 0I to the evaporator 5.
