Abstract
The invention disclosed herein relates to a game that may be digital or physical in structure that uses a plurality of specialized playing cards that use positive and negative number cards to create mathematical equations. Players are dealt a variety of cards that comprise numbers and specialty and assistance cards that work together to create even or odd equation melds comprising the sums or differences to obtain the integers of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11. Playing cards associated with the game are separated in their own suit, but joined together in one mixed deck. Deck variety comprises 108 positive number cards, negative number cards and specialty and assistance. Each inventive card has displayed on one of its faces either a positive number or negative number and opposite the number side are the suits' title side, which displays the name of the game.

- With respect to the claimed invention: (1) no disclosure was made by the inventor or joint inventor or by another who obtained the subject matter disclosed directly or indirectly from the inventor or a joint inventor; or (2) the subject matter disclosed had not, before such disclosure, been publicly disclosed by the inventor or a joint inventor or by another who obtained the subject matter disclosed directly or indirectly from the inventor or a joint inventor.
- The invention pertains to card games. More specifically, the invention pertains to card games that use numbers and symbols and played with two or more persons.
- Card games are commonly played by two to four persons with card suit faces resembling or bearing various Chinese or French symbols and designs. The playing cards are typically palm-sized for convenient handling and are drawn and discarded from a common pile called a deck, until one player wins. A full set of playing cards commonly contains 52 cards with each card having a unique symbol painted on its face. Most card games involve skill, strategy, and calculation, as well as a certain degree of luck (depending on the variation played, luck can be anything from a minor to a dominant factor in winning). Most card games are also popularly played as a gambling game. More specifically, and depending on the particular variation of the game, each player is dealt a number of cards in a hand. On their turn, players draw, play or discard at least one card, with the goal of winning.
- The present invention relates generally to specialized card games. More specifically, a digital or physical card game where with the help of specialty and assistance cards, a player melds positive numbers and negative numbers to formulate mathematical equations to arrive at a sum or difference that is either odd or even. In the game a player must meld positive number cards or negative number cards with previously played and/or table cards to create equations to form even or odd sums or differences to win the game with an empty hand. When melding played cards a player must vocally convey the potential even or odd sum or difference before securing melds. An example here of a winning meld would be a previously played number card of: “5” and a newly played negative number card of: “−2”. Thereby creating the odd difference of 3. Another example is a previously played card of: “6” and a newly played card of: “4”. Thereby creating the even sum of 10. In addition, there are multiple or various “house rules” to be implemented by those who love the game, but the premise is to build melds that formulate equations that equal odd or even results and/or integers. The game may be played at various paces so the game can be completed in a reasonable time frame, or at least before everyone loses interest.
- The drawings are intended to be illustrative and symbolic representations of certain exemplary embodiments of the present invention and as such they are not necessarily drawn to scale. In addition, it is to be expressly understood that the drawings are not an absolute depiction and the various symbols and markings depicted in the drawings are exemplary in nature; and thus they may be varied and/or colored in a variety of different ways (not shown). Finally, figures and/or reference numerals have been used to designate features throughout the several views of the drawings.
-
FIG. 1 Illustrates a perspective view of the first suit's positive number side from 1 to 5 and including the neutral 0. -
FIG. 2 Illustrates a perspective view of the first suit's positive number side from 6 to 11. -
FIG. 3 Illustrates a perspective view of the second suit's negative number side from −1 to −5 and including the neutral 0. -
FIG. 4 Illustrates a perspective view of the second suit's negative number side from −6 to −11. -
FIG. 5 Illustrates a perspective view of specialty and assistance cards comprised of draw, reverse, pass, even call, odd call and wild, - The present invention in one embodiment is directed to a game that comprises a plurality of playing cards, wherein each card has displayed on one of its faces either a positive number or a negative number, that align with mathematical, numerical or numeral characteristics. In addition, each card has displayed on its second face the title and/or name of the game.
- The objective of the game includes but is not limited to putting together as many positive and negative combinations and/or odd and even combinations that a player's hand would allow before playing out a player's last card. These combinations that make up odd or even sum or difference come from melding the previously played cards and/or table cards with a successive player's added card. In essence, the game herein formulates mathematical equations that can be shifted from the state of play of only even sums or differences to only odd sums or differences from melding cards. An example of the sequence of only even integer melds may be a previously played card and/or table card of −2 and a playing card of 6, to equal the difference of 4; a previously played card and/or table card of 7 and playing card of 1 to equal the sum of 8; a previously played card and/or table card of 11 and a playing card of −5 to equal the difference of 6. The alternative sequence of only odd integer melds may be a previously played card and/or table card of 3 and a playing card of 2, to equal the sum of 5; a previously played card and/or table card of 0 and a playing card of 7, to equals the sum of 7; a previously played card and/or table card of −8 and a playing card of 3, to equal the difference of 5. No melds exceed the equation of 10 for even and 11 for odd. What's more, a negative previously played card and/or table card and a negative playing card forms a sum equation in the play of the game; one negative adds to the other. The player with the advantage of a winning combination may play the hand and convey the meld sum or difference before securing the meld.
- The game starts with dealing a mixture of at least 8 positive and negative cards along with specialty and assistance cards. A card is dealt to the table face up. With each turn, a player may play a card from hand face up or pick up a card from the deck all in accordance to a player's strategy to be the first to leave the game empty handed. One embodiment explains that there are at least two suits consisting of sets of positive cards and negative cards displaying regular numbers and numbers with a subtractive sign preceding the number. Some cards may as well be a set of other special function cards known as “specialty” and “assistance” cards. Thus, the innovative game of the present invention entwines not only intellect, skill and chance, but also numbers, symbols and word playing cards associated with mathematical equations.
- These and other aspects of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those possessing ordinary skill in the art when reference is made to the following detailed description in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
- While the present invention has been described in the context of the embodiments illustrated and described herein, the invention may be embodied in other specific ways or in other specific forms without departing from its spirit or essential characteristics. Therefore, the described embodiments are to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the invention is, therefore, indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing descriptions, and all changes that come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are to be embraced within their scope.
- The present invention relates generally to games and, more particularly, to games involving the use of playing cards and/or digital simulated playing cards. Specialized playing cards that require the player to pass, draw, play or combine positive and negative number cards and/or odd or even number cards. That, in addition to specialty and assistance cards associated with the game help to make even or odd melded sums or differences in order to win the game to empty hand before other players. The present inventive card game combines intellect, skill, strategy, chance and improves mental acuity.
- In another embodiment, the present invention in another particular game variant (referred to as “digital” play) where the game is computer, software or code based. Further, all apply as mentioned above in other variants.
