Abstract

A toss game comprising: a toss game table, the toss game table comprising: a table top; one or more legs supporting the table top; at least one hole located in the table top; a first group of colored or patterned toss items; a second group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group; a third group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group and second group.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates generally to a toss game apparatus and system, and more particularly, to a toss game apparatus and system whereby players can play the game standing or sitting in a circle about the game board.

BACKGROUND

People are always looking for games to play to keep entertained. There are many lawn/beach games available to the public. For example, on the beach we may see frisbee being played (watch out for the stray disk heading your way), football being thrown (again careful you may have one land on your feet), spike ball (some person running so quickly so the ball doesn't hit the ground that they end up in your lap). All of these games and activities take up lots of space and have the potential to have part of the game come hurdling your way in a dangerous manner. Games such as cornhole require two game boards set up diametrically apart from one another, and the players are similarly grouped diametrically from one another. This makes chatting, and socializing difficult while playing cornhole. Similarly, throwing the frisbee or football, or playing catch, requires participants to stand apart from one another, also making chatting and socializing difficult while doing these activities.
Thus there is a need for a toss game apparatus and system that overcomes the above listed and other disadvantages.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to a toss game comprising: a toss game table, the toss game table comprising: a table top; one or more legs supporting the table top; at least one hole located in the table top; a first group of colored or patterned toss items; a second group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group; a third group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group and second group.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of one embodiment of the toss game table 10. The table 10 may comprise a plurality of legs 14 and a table top 18. In one embodiment, the table top 18 may have a circular shape, in other embodiments the shape may be other shapes, such as, but not limited to hexagonal, octagonal, square, rectangular, triangular, trapezoidal, rhombus, etc. In the shown embodiment, the table top 18 may have a diameter of about 28 inches. The legs 14 may be about 12 inches tall. In this embodiment, the table top 18 may have a single hole 22 in the center of the table top 18. In one embodiment, the hole 22 may be about 4 inches in diameter. The legs 14 may be easily removable/attachable or fold in/down to the table top 18. When the legs 14 are removed/folded in, the toss game table 10 may be compactly stored, and/or easily carried.
FIG. 2 shows a top view of the toss game table 10. In this view, the legs 14 are below the table top 18 and not visible.
FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of the toss game table 10 with 4 sets of toss items 26, 30, 34, 38. The toss items may be any suitable tossable item that can fit within the hole 22. The toss items 26, 30, 34, 38 may be bean bags, filled pouches, etc. In one embodiment, the toss items 26, 30, 34, 38 will generally not bounce, or have a low bounce height, such that if a toss item 26-38 is thrown onto to the table top 18 and does not enter the hole 22, the toss items 26-38 will generally not bounce off the table top 18, like a tennis ball would, for example. In one embodiment, each set of toss items 26, 30, 34, 38 may have a different color, or pattern. For example, toss items 26 may be blue, toss items 30 may be red, toss items 34 may be yellow, and toss items 38 may be green. The toss items may have a generally cube or rounded cube shape, with about 2½ inches per side. The toss items however, can be larger or smaller, and range in size from about 1 inches to about 4 inches per side. If the toss items are spherical, the diameter of the toss item may range from about 1 inches to about 4 inches.
FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of another embodiment of the toss game table 42. In this embodiment, instead of a single hole 22 in the center of the table top 18, there are four holes 46, 50, 54, 58 spaced around the table top 18. In one embodiment, the holes 46, 50, 54, 58 may all generally be equidistant from the center of the table top 18 and spaced generally evenly near the perimeter of the table top 18. Each of the holes 46, 50, 54, 58 may have a netting or fabric underneath each hole to form a pocket or pouch. The pocket or pouch may hold one or more toss items.
FIG. 5 is a top view of the toss game table 42 from FIG. 4 . In this view, the legs 14 are beneath the table top 18 and not visible.
FIG. 6 is another perspective view of the toss game table 42 from FIG. 4 .
The toss game table may be made out of any suitable material, including but not limited to: wood, particle board, plastic, canvas and metal. The table top 18 may have a round shape with an about 28 inches diameter, however, other sizes may be used, including but not limited from about 20 inches in diameter to about 38 inches in diameter. The table top 18 may have any suitable thickness, including but not limited to thicknesses ranging from about ¼ inches to about 2 inches. The legs may be of any suitable height, including from about 2 inches to about 28 inches. The legs can be stationary with respect to the table top, or adjustable with respect to the table top. The toss game table may have a table top that is about 12 inches in height with respect to the surface the toss game table is placed on. In other embodiments, the table top may be about 24 inches in height with respect to the surface the toss game table is placed on. In other embodiments, the toss game table may have an adjustable height ranging from 6 inches to about 28 inches. The legs may be of any suitable shape, including but not limited to rectangular, cylindrical, square. The legs may be made out of any suitable material, including but not limited to wood, particle board, plastic, metal and fiberglass.
In one embodiment of the toss game, the game may be played as follows. Using the toss game table shown in FIGS. 4-6 , each player will have 4 of the same colored or patterned toss items. The object of the game is while tossing underhanded is the hope of landing each of your colored or patterned toss items into one of the individual 4 pockets with one toss item in each while taking turns one at a time. If your toss item lands in a pocket, you already have one in, when that round ends you will pick it out of the pocket and the next round try for one that does not have any of your bags in it yet. First person to get all 4 bags in the 4 different pockets wins. In one embodiment of the game, all the players should stand such that they are about 10 feet from the from the center of the table top. In the event of a tie, the next round would start with 4 toss bags and each person will throw one bag at a time trying again to get one bean bag in each of the four pockets. If you get one in a pocket and the other players do not, you would win, if you get more than one in a pocket it would only count as one bean in and you would take out the other bag and try for a pocket you do not have any bean bags in, and the person with the greatest number of bags that landed in the individual pockets in that round would win. This embodiment of the game is suggested to be played with 2-4 players (can have more players with more bean bags). The game may be played with players sitting around the toss game table, with the table top about 12 inches in height off the ground. The game may be played with players standing around the toss game table, with the table top about 24 inches off the ground. This embodiment of the game may be called Sync 4.
In another embodiment of the toss game, the game may be played as follows. Using the toss game table shown in FIGS. 1-3 , Each player receives 6 of same colored or patterned toss items. Players take turns tossing the bags underhand and the first person to get all 6 bean bags in the hole wins. In the event of a tie, next round person who gets the most bean bags in the hole wins. This game is suggested to be played with 2-8 players. In one embodiment of the game, all the players should stand such that they are about 10 feet from the from the center of the table top. This game may be played sitting or standing. This game may be called Synk 6.
In another embodiment of the game, the game may be played as follows. Using the toss game table shown in FIGS. 1-3 , each player has 4 of the same colored or patterned toss items. Players take turns tossing the toss items underhanded and for every toss item that lands on the board player receives 1 point, each toss item that goes through the center hole receives 3 points. First person to get to 21 without going over wins. In the event a player goes over 21 their scores drop back down to 11 and the next player to reach the exact number of 21 wins. This game is suggested to be played with 2-8 players. In one embodiment of the game, all the players should stand such that they are about 10 feet from the from the center of the table top. This game may be played sitting or standing. The table top may be 12 inches off the ground. This game may be called Synk Hole.
Bean bags or similar in the size of ideally 2½ inches square may be used as toss items. The toss items may also be circular and range in size from 1 inch to 4 inches.
The disclosed toss game apparatus and system has many advantages. The game allows players to sit around the toss game table, and chat and socialize while playing the game, without having to be far apart from each other. The toss games are easy to learn and play. The toss game table has a simple design and should be inexpensive to manufacture. The toss game apparatus and system is fast moving, competitive, contained, easily transported, easy to learn, has a quick setup, durable and fun.
It should be noted that the terms “first”, “second”, and “third”, and the like may be used herein to modify elements performing similar and/or analogous functions. These modifiers do not imply a spatial, sequential, or hierarchical order to the modified elements unless specifically stated.
While the disclosure has been described with reference to several embodiments, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes may be made and equivalents may be substituted for elements thereof without departing from the scope of the disclosure. In addition, many modifications may be made to adapt a particular situation or material to the teachings of the disclosure without departing from the essential scope thereof. Therefore, it is intended that the disclosure not be limited to the particular embodiments disclosed as the best mode contemplated for carrying out this disclosure, but that the disclosure will include all embodiments falling within the scope of the appended claims.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A toss game comprising:

a toss game table, the toss game table comprising:

a table top;

one or more legs supporting the table top;

at least one hole located in the table top;

a first group of colored or patterned toss items;

a second group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group;

a third group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group and second group.

2. The toss game of claim 1, wherein the at least one hole is located at the center of the table top,

3. The toss game of claim 1, wherein the table top has a circular shape.

4. The toss game of claim 1, wherein the first, second and third groups of toss items are bean bags.

5. The toss game of claim 1, wherein the table top comprises 4 holes, with each hole being equidistance from the center of the table, and the 4 holes are generally equally spaced about the perimeter of the table top.

6. The toss game of claim 5, wherein the 4 holes each have a netting or fabric attached to the bottom of the table top, the netting or fabric forming a pocket to hold one or more of the toss items.

7. The toss game of claim 1, wherein the one or more legs are adjustable in height such that the table top may be adjusted from about 12 inches off the ground to about 24 inches off the ground.

8. The toss game of claim 3, wherein the table top has a diameter of about 28 inches, the hole may have a diameter of about 4 inches, and the toss items may be about 2¼ inches per side.

9. The toss game of claim 1, further comprising:

a fourth group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group, second group, and third group.

10. The toss game of claim 1, further comprising:

a fifth group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group, second group, third group, and fourth group;

a sixth group of colored or patterned toss items, with a different color or pattern than the first group, second group, third group, fourth group and fifth group.
