Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
  • This application claims priority from a U.S. Provisional Patent Appl. No. 63/403,923 filed on Sep. 6, 2022, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
  • FIELD OF INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a blanket, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a chair blanket.
  • BACKGROUND
  • It is common to use a blanket to keep oneself warm in cold climates. The blankets help to retain body heat. However, the use of blankets sometimes tends to limit certain free-body movements. Draping a blanket around the shoulders and thighs in a sitting position can get uncomfortable. A person while sitting on a chair and working finds it difficult to drape a blanket because the blanket restricts free body movements. Thus, people sitting in chairs often find it difficult to keep themselves warm. People working while sitting in a chair, such as in offices, must wear multiple layers of clothes in cold climates. The use of bedsheets or blankets is uncomfortable and limits the mobility of the body, thus making it difficult for the person to work.
  • A need is therefore appreciated for a blanket that is specifically designed for chairs and does not restrict free body movements.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The following presents a simplified summary of one or more embodiments of the present invention in order to provide a basic understanding of such embodiments. This summary is not an extensive overview of all contemplated embodiments and is intended to neither identify key or critical elements of all embodiments nor delineate the scope of any or all embodiments. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts of one or more embodiments in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
  • The principal object of the present invention is therefore directed to a chair blanket for a chair.
  • It is another object of the present invention that a user can comfortably wear the chair blanket.
  • It is still another object of the present invention that the chair blanket can keep a person warm without limiting free body movements.
  • It is yet another object of the present invention that the chair blanket can be customized.
  • In one aspect, disclosed is a chair blanket for a chair comprising a central section; and a pair of upper wing flaps that extends from the central section, the pair of upper wing flaps configured to drape over shoulders of a person sitting on the chair, wherein the central section is configured to be mounted to a back support of the chair. The chair blanket further comprises a pair of lower wing flaps that extends from the central section, the pair of lower flaps configured to drape over thighs of the person sitting on the chair. The central section has a fastening member coupled to a rear side of the back support of the chair, the fastening member is configured to secure the central section to the back of the chair. The fastening member further comprises straps that wrap around the back support for the chair.

Straps with length adjustment means, such as sliders can be provided to allow fitting over chairs of different types, designs, and sizes.
  • The two upper flaps and the two lower flaps that extend from the central section can almost drape the person sitting on the chair; however, the underside of the user's bottom side is not covered with a blanket. This enables the user to be draped in the blanket but still in ergonomic and unobstructed contact with their chair.
  • The chair blanket can be made of materials known to a skilled person for use in warm clothes, blankets, and the like, such as fleece can be used for the chair blanket. The central section can be cushioned for added comfort for the user. The design of disclosed chair blanket enables the user to get in and out of their chair easily and quickly. Also, FIG. 1 shows the chair blanket that has upper flaps and lower flaps, however, the upper flaps or the lower flaps can be optional. For example, in one implementation, the chair blanket can include only the lower flaps. In another implementation, the chair blanket can include only the upper flaps. Also, the flaps can be detachable from the central section, so that a user can customize the chair blanket as and when needed. Also, as shown in the drawings, the flaps extend angularly from the central section.
  • Also disclosed is a variant version of the chair blanket in the form of a backpack blanket. The backpack blanket can be worn on the back of a user using straps on the central section of the backpack blanket. The wings flaps of the backpack blanket can be stowed in the pockets of the backpack blanket. For use, the user can pull out the wing flaps from the pockets of the backpack blanket.
