- The disclosure relates to storage devices and more particularly pertains to a new storage device for storing memory cards.
- The prior art relates to storage devices for storing memory cards and discloses a device which stores a plurality of memory cards in each of a corresponding plurality of pockets within a securely closeable case. however, this case does not protect the stored memory cards on all sides from environmental interference or dropping the memory cards out of the case. Nor does it organize the memory cards in an accordion folder arrangement or store them against interior surfaces of each side of the case.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a case, wherein the case has a front portion and a back portion is pivotably coupled to the front portion of the case about a pivot axis. The case has an open position and a closed position, and the case defines an interior space between the front portion of the case and the back portion of the case when closed. A pocket configured for holding a memory card is coupled to the case and positioned such that the pocket is within the interior space when the case is closed.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a top front side perspective view of a memory card storage device according to a first embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a bottom back side perspective view of a first embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of the disclosure in an open position. -
FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of a first embodiment of the disclosure from the arrows 4-4 inFIG. 3 . -
FIG. 5 is a top front side perspective view of a second embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 6 is a top front side perspective view of a second embodiment of the disclosure in an open position. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new storage device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the memorycard storage device 10 generally comprises acase 12 with afront portion 14 and aback portion 16, wherein theback portion 16 is pivotably coupled to thefront portion 14 about a pivot axis. Thecase 12 has anopen position 18 and a closedposition 20 and defines an interior space between thefront portion 14 and theback portion 16 when closed. Thefront portion 14 comprises afront cover 24 and afront perimeter wall 26, wherein thefront perimeter wall 26 extends from aperimeter edge 28 of thefront cover 24 to adistal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26 relative to thefront cover 24. Thefront perimeter wall 26 extends toward theback portion 16 when thecase 12 is closed. Theback portion 16 comprises aback cover 32 and aback perimeter wall 34, wherein theback perimeter wall 34 extends from aperimeter edge 36 of theback cover 32 to adistal edge 38 of theback perimeter wall 34 relative to theback cover 32. Theback perimeter wall 34 extends toward thefront portion 14 when thecase 12 is closed. Thefront cover 24 is rectangular, and theback cover 32 is equal in size and shape to thefront cover 24. - The
distal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26 has aspine portion 40 and acoupling portion 42, and thedistal edge 38 of theback perimeter wall 34 also has aspine portion 44 and acoupling portion 46. Thespine portion 40 of thedistal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26 is pivotably coupled to thespine portion 44 of thedistal edge 38 of theback perimeter wall 34. Thecoupling portion 42 of thedistal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26 is releasably couplable to thecoupling portion 46 of thedistal edge 38 of theback perimeter wall 34 when thecase 12 is closed. - A
zipper 48 comprises a pair oftracks 50 and aslider 52. Eachtrack 50 extends along one of each of thecoupling portion 42 of thedistal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26 and thecoupling portion 46 of thedistal edge 38 of theback perimeter wall 34. Theslider 52 brings eachtrack 50 into interlocking engagement with eachother track 50 when theslider 52 engages eachtrack 50 and slides along thecoupling portion 42 of thedistal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26 from afirst end 54 of thecoupling portion 42 of thedistal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26 to asecond end 56 of thecoupling portion 42 of thedistal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26. - A set of eight
pockets 58 is coupled to thecase 12 and positioned such that the set of eightpockets 58 is within the interior space when thecase 12 is closed. Eachpocket 58 is configured for holding amemory card 60. - In a first embodiment, the
device 10 also comprises ahinge 62 and anaccordion folder 64. Thehinge 62 pivotably couples the spine portion of thedistal edge 30 of thefront perimeter wall 26 to thespine portion 44 of thedistal edge 38 of theback perimeter wall 34. Theaccordion folder 64 is coupled to thehinge 62 and extends radially from the pivot axis and angularly about the pivot axis between each of thefront cover 24 and theback cover 32 when thecase 12 is open. Theaccordion folder 64 defines the set of eightpockets 58. Achain 68 is coupled to anend 66 of thehinge 62 and has adistal end 70 relative to thehinge 62. Akey ring 72 is coupled to thedistal end 70 of thechain 68. - In a second embodiment, the
front cover 24 has a front interior surface 74 facing the interior space when thecase 12 is closed and has atop edge 76. Theback cover 32 has aback interior surface 78 facing the interior space when thecase 12 is closed and has atop edge 80 aligned with thetop edge 76 of thefront cover 24 when thecase 12 is open. The set of eightpockets 58 has afront portion 82 and aback portion 84 of the set of eightpockets 58, wherein thefront portion 82 of the set of eightpockets 58 is coupled to the front interior surface 74 and theback portion 84 of the set of eightpockets 58 is coupled to theback interior surface 78, each of thefront portion 82 of the set of eightpockets 58 and theback portion 84 of the set of eightpockets 58 comprising fourpockets 58. Each of thefront portion 82 of the set of eightpockets 58 and theback portion 84 of the set of eightpockets 58 comprise tworows 86 ofpockets 58, wherein eachrow 86 of thefront portion 82 of the set of eightpockets 58 and of theback portion 84 of the set of eightpockets 58 is aligned parallel to thetop edge 76 of the front interior surface 74 and thetop edge 80 of theback interior surface 78 respectively. Each of thefront portion 82 of the set of eightpockets 58 and theback portion 84 of the set of eightpockets 58 also comprise twocolumns 88 ofpockets 58, wherein eachcolumn 88 of thefront portion 82 of the set of eightpockets 58 and of theback portion 84 of the set of eightpockets 58 is aligned perpendicular to thetop edge 76 of the front interior surface 74 and the top edge of the backinterior surface 78 respectively. Eachpocket 58 has anedge 90 defining anopening 92, wherein the opening 92 of eachpocket 58 of thefront portion 82 of the set of eightpockets 58 and of theback portion 84 of the set of eightpockets 58 faces thetop edge 76 of the front interior surface 74 and thetop edge 80 of theback interior surface 78 respectively. Theedge 90 of eachpocket 58 has anarcuate cutout 94 which is configured for facilitating gripping thememory card 60 to remove thememory card 60 from eachpocket 58. - In use, the
memory card 60 is placed into one of the plurality ofpockets 58 for storage. Then thecase 12 is closed, and thezipper 48 is slid such that thefront portion 14 of thecase 12 is secured to theback portion 16 of thecase 12. In the first embodiment, thekey ring 72 can be attached to a key, anotherkey ring 72, or similar object if desired. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
