  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new storage device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6 , the memory card storage device 10 generally comprises a case 12 with a front portion 14 and a back portion 16, wherein the back portion 16 is pivotably coupled to the front portion 14 about a pivot axis. The case 12 has an open position 18 and a closed position 20 and defines an interior space between the front portion 14 and the back portion 16 when closed. The front portion 14 comprises a front cover 24 and a front perimeter wall 26, wherein the front perimeter wall 26 extends from a perimeter edge 28 of the front cover 24 to a distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26 relative to the front cover 24. The front perimeter wall 26 extends toward the back portion 16 when the case 12 is closed. The back portion 16 comprises a back cover 32 and a back perimeter wall 34, wherein the back perimeter wall 34 extends from a perimeter edge 36 of the back cover 32 to a distal edge 38 of the back perimeter wall 34 relative to the back cover 32. The back perimeter wall 34 extends toward the front portion 14 when the case 12 is closed. The front cover 24 is rectangular, and the back cover 32 is equal in size and shape to the front cover 24.
  • The distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26 has a spine portion 40 and a coupling portion 42, and the distal edge 38 of the back perimeter wall 34 also has a spine portion 44 and a coupling portion 46. The spine portion 40 of the distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26 is pivotably coupled to the spine portion 44 of the distal edge 38 of the back perimeter wall 34. The coupling portion 42 of the distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26 is releasably couplable to the coupling portion 46 of the distal edge 38 of the back perimeter wall 34 when the case 12 is closed.
  • A zipper 48 comprises a pair of tracks 50 and a slider 52. Each track 50 extends along one of each of the coupling portion 42 of the distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26 and the coupling portion 46 of the distal edge 38 of the back perimeter wall 34. The slider 52 brings each track 50 into interlocking engagement with each other track 50 when the slider 52 engages each track 50 and slides along the coupling portion 42 of the distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26 from a first end 54 of the coupling portion 42 of the distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26 to a second end 56 of the coupling portion 42 of the distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26.
  • A set of eight pockets 58 is coupled to the case 12 and positioned such that the set of eight pockets 58 is within the interior space when the case 12 is closed. Each pocket 58 is configured for holding a memory card 60.
  • In a first embodiment, the device 10 also comprises a hinge 62 and an accordion folder 64. The hinge 62 pivotably couples the spine portion of the distal edge 30 of the front perimeter wall 26 to the spine portion 44 of the distal edge 38 of the back perimeter wall 34. The accordion folder 64 is coupled to the hinge 62 and extends radially from the pivot axis and angularly about the pivot axis between each of the front cover 24 and the back cover 32 when the case 12 is open. The accordion folder 64 defines the set of eight pockets 58. A chain 68 is coupled to an end 66 of the hinge 62 and has a distal end 70 relative to the hinge 62. A key ring 72 is coupled to the distal end 70 of the chain 68.
  • In a second embodiment, the front cover 24 has a front interior surface 74 facing the interior space when the case 12 is closed and has a top edge 76. The back cover 32 has a back interior surface 78 facing the interior space when the case 12 is closed and has a top edge 80 aligned with the top edge 76 of the front cover 24 when the case 12 is open. The set of eight pockets 58 has a front portion 82 and a back portion 84 of the set of eight pockets 58, wherein the front portion 82 of the set of eight pockets 58 is coupled to the front interior surface 74 and the back portion 84 of the set of eight pockets 58 is coupled to the back interior surface 78, each of the front portion 82 of the set of eight pockets 58 and the back portion 84 of the set of eight pockets 58 comprising four pockets 58. Each of the front portion 82 of the set of eight pockets 58 and the back portion 84 of the set of eight pockets 58 comprise two rows 86 of pockets 58, wherein each row 86 of the front portion 82 of the set of eight pockets 58 and of the back portion 84 of the set of eight pockets 58 is aligned parallel to the top edge 76 of the front interior surface 74 and the top edge 80 of the back interior surface 78 respectively. Each of the front portion 82 of the set of eight pockets 58 and the back portion 84 of the set of eight pockets 58 also comprise two columns 88 of pockets 58, wherein each column 88 of the front portion 82 of the set of eight pockets 58 and of the back portion 84 of the set of eight pockets 58 is aligned perpendicular to the top edge 76 of the front interior surface 74 and the top edge of the back interior surface 78 respectively. Each pocket 58 has an edge 90 defining an opening 92, wherein the opening 92 of each pocket 58 of the front portion 82 of the set of eight pockets 58 and of the back portion 84 of the set of eight pockets 58 faces the top edge 76 of the front interior surface 74 and the top edge 80 of the back interior surface 78 respectively. The edge 90 of each pocket 58 has an arcuate cutout 94 which is configured for facilitating gripping the memory card 60 to remove the memory card 60 from each pocket 58.
  • In use, the memory card 60 is placed into one of the plurality of pockets 58 for storage. Then the case 12 is closed, and the zipper 48 is slid such that the front portion 14 of the case 12 is secured to the back portion 16 of the case 12. In the first embodiment, the key ring 72 can be attached to a key, another key ring 72, or similar object if desired.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
