  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention relates to the field of water sports, and in particular, to water boards that use hydrofoils.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Hydrofoil boards are designed to make water boarding more fun and enjoyable. A hydrofoil board is simply a board with an under-surface hydrofoil that sticks below the main surfboard into the water.
  • The hydrofoil typically includes a single larger front wing that creates lift and a smaller rear wing that provides stability, that lifts the board—out of the water, taking the rider with it.
  • The popularity of this type of board has increased dramatically over the last few years, and now there are even specialty shops that sell only these boards. Whether you are a beginner water boarder or an experienced surfer, many enjoy riding hydrofoils board. Hydrofoil boards can be used for surfing as well as wind powered sports such as kiteboarding, windsurfing and wingboarding.
  • Given their size, hydrofoil boards are typically dismantled while being transported. The hydrofoil and water board are typically decoupled from one another by removing various fasteners. When the conditions are right, a user will then have to recouple these two large pieces together which can become frustrating and time consuming when aligning the two pieces together to create an accurate and tight fit. Further frustrating the user from enjoying the day is losing the fasteners required to couple the board and hydrofoil together.
  • Accordingly, a need exists for an easy to assemble water board and hydrofoil system. Other objects of the invention will be apparent from the description that follows.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • According to the present invention there is provided a hydrofoil board with a mounting box system. They system may include a board having a topside and an underside. It may also include a mounting box connected to the underside of the board. The mounting box may include a channel operable to slidably receive a securing device and operable to engage a mounting base, wherein when the securing device is operated, the mounting base is secured to the mounting box.
  • The securing device may be a fastener and the fastener may be a bolt and a bolt plate. The bolt plate may be configured to connect to a plurality of bolts and configured to linearly align the plurality of bolts for insertion into the channel of the mounting box.
  • The base may include an integrated hydrofoil extending therefrom.
  • The hydrofoil board and mounting box may be a unitary structure.
  • The mounting box may include a truncated end with a first end of the channel commencing from the truncated end.
  • According to the present invention there is also provided a hydrofoil board system which may include a board having a topside and an underside, a mounting box connected to the underside of the board, a mounting base having a topside and an underside with the underside being configured to receive a hydrofoil and the topside being configured to securely attach to the mounting box, and a securing device configured to securely affix the mounting plate to the mounting box.
  • The mounting box may include a channel operable to slidably receive the securing device.
