Abstract

There is provided an apparatus for affixing buttons to garments. Buttons have been around for many years and are still a very common mechanism for the closure or attachment of garments. Buttons can be either damaged or break loose from its threaded bonding source requiring replacement. There is provided an apparatus for affixing a button to a garment's fabric using a circular disk with two prongs. When circular disk is aligned with the button holes, the prongs extend from the lower side of the circular disk and is manually pushed through the button hole openings piercing the garment fabric and extending through the underside of garment. The two prongs extending through the button and garment are bent inwardly to create a cohesive bond. The underside of the circular disk abutting the top of the button is coated with adhesive inhibiting movement or slippage of the button from the circular disk.

  • FIELD OF INVENTION
  • The apparatus described herein relates to garments, particularly clothing. Particular embodiments provide apparatus for affixing buttons to garments. This invention pertains to USPTO Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) A41H—Appliances or methods for making clothes, e.g. For dress-making, for tailoring, not otherwise provided for (machines, appliance, or methods for making particular articles of apparel; A44B—with quick, thread-like, anchoring means avoiding the use of a separate needle and thread; B25B—tools or bench devices not otherwise provided for, for fastening, connecting, disengaging or holding; B25C—hand-held nailing or stapling tools; manually operated portable stapling tools.
  • All listed referenced prior art found does not address the functionality to fasten, restrain or hold in place a button affixing apparatus similar to this invention. Below is a list of some of the prior art found:
      • 20170105492
      • 20160221252
  • The apparatus is designed to hold securely a garment button e.g. button in place.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Garments incorporate a wide range of fastening mechanisms. The most common is the button.
  • The apparatus is intended for applying buttons to a garment without a threaded needle. The apparatus is used to attach a button that has either partially or completely separated from a piece of fabric rendering the button inept.
  • Therefore, it is desirable to develop an apparatus designed for fast and easy attachment of a button to a garment.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Briefly described, the primary object of the invention is to provide an apparatus for applying buttons onto garment fabrics incorporating the structural features enabling the parts to be held in the proper position and clamped in place on the garment firmly.
  • One aspect of the present disclosure provides an apparatus to securely attach a garment button. The apparatus includes a flat circular disk of necessary circumference from which two protracted parallel prongs extend.
  • To provide an effortless no sew experience, the two protracted parallel prongs have slightly sharpened tips for easy penetration through the garment fabric for secure capture.
  • The apparatus is designed to securely hold in place the button by placing the circular disk on top of the button adjoining the disk securely to the button.
  • The apparatus is coated with an adhesive bonding material on the underside from which the two protracted parallel prongs extend. The two protracted parallel prongs are aligned to the button holes. After alignment the two protracted parallel prongs are pushed through the button holes and the adjoining garment's fabric.
  • The apparatus is securely attached to the button and its protracted parallel prongs extend from the circular disk through the button and garment's fabric. The two pliable protracted parallel prongs are pinched together resembling a staple after being applied by a stapler. The apparatus is designed to be a fast-easy method to attach a button without needle and thread or sewing know how.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The drawings illustrate the best mode currently contemplated of practicing the present disclosure. The drawings:
  • FIG. 1 is an overall view of the one embodiment of the apparatus;
  • FIG. 1A is an overall view of the one embodiment of the apparatus with a button;
  • FIG. 2 is a top view of the one embodiment of the apparatus, a button after adjoining the apparatus to a button, they become one article according to the present disclosure;
  • FIG. 3 is a side view of the one embodiment of the apparatus with extended prongs protracted through the button during the connecting process constructed according to the present disclosure;
  • FIG. 4 is a side view of the one embodiment of the apparatus' extended prongs protracted through the button securely attached to the top of the button with adhesive bonding according to the present disclosure;
  • FIG. 5 is a side view of the one embodiment of the adjoined apparatus and button with the protracted prongs extended to pierce the garment fabric constructed according to the present disclosure;
  • FIG. 6 is a top view of the one embodiment of the adjoined apparatus and button fully affixed to the garment fabric constructed according to the present disclosure;
  • FIG. 7 is a bottom view of the one embodiment of the adjoined apparatus and button affixed to the garment with the fully stretched out prongs extending from the bottom side of the garment's fabric constructed according to the present disclosure;
  • FIG. 8 is a bottom view of the one embodiment of the adjoined apparatus and button securely affixed with its prongs bent to pinch and hold tight to the bottom side of garment's fabric constructed according to the present disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring now in detail to the drawing figures, wherein like reference numerals represent like parts throughout the several views, one embodiment of the apparatus constructed according to the present disclosure is illustrated generally in FIG. 1. The apparatus in the illustrated embodiment is a flat rigid circular disk 1 of necessary circumference from which two protracted parallel prongs 3 extend from the underside of the rigid circular disk 1.
  • Now referring to FIG. 1A, the flat rigid circular disk 1 with the two protracted parallel prongs 3 of the apparatus are sufficiently spaced to align and intersect the button 2 via two button holes 4 of the button 2.
  • FIG. 2, The flat rigid circular disk 1 when adjoined with a button 2 becomes a single article 6.
  • Now referring to FIG. 3, The near flat rigid circular disk 1 with its two protracted parallel prongs 3 extended is aligned to the button 2 and pushed through the button 2 two button hole 4 openings.
  • FIG. 4, The near flat rigid circular disk 1 adjoins itself to the top of the button 2 using an adhesive bonding material.
  • FIG. 5, The two protracted parallel prongs 3 of the apparatus is comprised of a suitable durable and pliable material able to pierce the garment fabric 5. The near flat rigid circular disk 1 with its two protracted parallel prongs 3 and button 2 penetrate the garment fabric 5 top creating an aperture in the garment fabric 5 and exiting the garment fabric 5 bottom exposing the two protracted parallel prongs 3 extending through the bottom of the garment fabric 5.
  • Now referring to FIG. 6, The near flat rigid circular disk 1 adjoined with the button 2 as a single article is conjoined at the top of the garment fabric 5.
  • Now referring to FIG. 7, while the near flat rigid circular disk 1 and button 2 rests on the top of the garment fabric 5 its two protracted prongs 3 are sticking out from the bottom of the garment fabric 5.
  • FIG. 8, the two extended protracted prongs 3 thrusting from the bottom of the garment fabric 5 are bent or pinched upward facing one another to create a secure and tight clench of the garment fabric 5 to the underside of the flat rigid circular disk 1.
  • Various other embodiments of the present invention are contemplated as being within the scope of the filed claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming the subject matter regarded as the invention.
  • While preferred embodiments have been shown and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the disclosure, but rather is intended to cover all modifications and alternate methods and apparatus within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claims.
