- The disclosure relates to saddle devices and more particularly pertains to a new saddle device for mounting a curtain rod to an existing window blind.
- The prior art relates to saddle devices.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a pair of brackets. Each of the brackets engages a window blind that is mounted in a window. A support is removably coupled to the brackets when the brackets are positioned on the window blind. The support has a saddle integrated therein. A curtain rod is positionable in the saddle. In this way the curtain rod can be mounted to the existing window blind.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a curtain saddle assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a left side view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new saddle device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 4 , thecurtain saddle assembly 10 generally comprises a pair ofbrackets 12 that each engages a window blind 14 which is mounted in awindow 16. The window blind 14 may be a retractable window blind 14 that has a rectangular cross section. Thewindow 16 may be a window in a building, such as a house or an office. Each of thebrackets 12 has acentral portion 18 extending between atop portion 20 and abottom portion 22. Each of thetop portion 20 and thebottom portion 22 extends along a line that is oriented perpendicular to thecentral portion 18. - The
top portion 20 and thebottom portion 22 extend in opposite directions from thecentral portion 18 with respect to each other. Thebrackets 12 are oriented having thebottom portion 22 of each of thebrackets 12 being directed toward each other. Thebottom portion 22 of each of thebrackets 12 abuts abottom side 24 of the window blind 14. Thecentral portion 18 of each of thebrackets 12 extends upwardly along a respective one of aback side 26 and afront side 28 of the window blind 14. Thetop portion 20 of each of thebrackets 12 lies on a horizontal plane when thebrackets 12 are positioned on the window blind 14. - A
support 30 is removably coupled to thebrackets 12 when thebrackets 12 are positioned on the window blind 14. Thesupport 30 has asaddle 32 that is integrated therein. Additionally, acurtain rod 34 is positionable in thesaddle 32 when thesupport 30 is coupled to thebrackets 12. In thisway support 30 facilitates thecurtain rod 34 to be mounted to the existing window blind 14. Thus, acurtain rod 34 can be positioned to extend across awindow 16 without the need to drill holes in an adjacent wall for mounting traditional curtain rod supports. - The
support 30 has afirst end 36, asecond end 38 and anouter surface 40 extending therebetween. Thesupport 30 is elongated between thefirst end 36 and thesecond end 38, and theouter surface 40 has atop side 42 and abottom side 44. Thesupport 30 has abend 46 thereon defining afirst portion 48 forming an angle with asecond portion 50. Thebend 46 is positioned closer to thesecond end 38 than thefirst end 36, and thesecond end 38 is associated with thesecond portion 50. Thesecond portion 50 has acurve 52 that is positioned between thebend 46 and thesecond end 38 to define thesaddle 32. - The
support 30 has anadjustment slot 54 extending through thetop side 42 and thebottom side 44 of theouter surface 40. Theadjustment slot 54 extends substantially between thefirst end 36 and thebend 46. Thesupport 30 is positionable on thebrackets 12 having thebottom side 24 corresponding to thefirst portion 48 resting on thetop portion 20 of each of thebrackets 12. A pair offasteners 56 is provided and each of thefasteners 56 is extendable through theadjustment slot 54 in thesupport 30 to engage thetop portion 20 of a respective one of thebrackets 12. In this way thesupport 30 is retained on thebrackets 12 such that thesaddle 32 is slidable toward or away from the blind 14. Thefasteners 56 may comprise bolts or other type of releasable fastener. - In use, the
fasteners 56 are extended through theadjustment slot 54 in thesupport 30 and thefasteners 56 are loosely tightened into therespective bracket 12. Thebrackets 12 are slid onto the window blind 14 and thebrackets 12 are adjusted to compress against the window blind 14. Thefasteners 56 are subsequently tightened to retain thebrackets 12 and thesupport 30 on the window blind 14. In this way thesaddle 32 is oriented to support 30 thecurtain rod 34. Thus, thecurtain rod 34 and an associated curtain can be mounted in thewindow 16 without the use of penetrating fasteners as is conventionally required. In this way a renter can mount curtains on windows in a rented living space without drilling holes in walls. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
