Description

    REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • 1. This application claims the benefit of priority under 35 U.S.C. § 119(e) of U.S. provisional application Ser. No. 62/755,223 filed on Nov. 2, 2018, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.
  • BACKGROUND 2. Field
  • The present disclosure relates to round containers, e.g., for pizza boxes.
  • 3. Description of Related Art
  • Many applications of containers, e.g., for pizza boxes made of paper, are traditionally square boxes. Square boxes are traditionally folded from blanks and are square even where the application includes containing a round article, e.g., such as a pizza.
  • Such conventional methods and systems have generally been considered satisfactory for their intended purpose. However, there is still a need in the art for round containers. The present disclosure provides a solution for this need.
  • SUMMARY
  • A container can include a bottom panel, a sidewall structure attached to a bottom panel and forming a cavity for receiving an article. The sidewall structure can extend substantially orthogonally from the bottom panel, for example. The container can include an at least partially round top panel. The top panel can be configured to latch to the sidewall structure to enclose the cavity. The top panel can be attached to the sidewall structure and/or the bottom panel. In certain embodiments, the top panel can be separate from the body.
  • In certain embodiments, the top panel can be entirely circular. In certain embodiments, the top panel can include at least one semi-circular edge and at least one flat edge when attached to the sidewall structure.
  • The top panel can be configured to latch to the sidewall structure and/or the bottom panel at one (e.g., two) or more locations. For example, the top panel or the sidewall structure and/or bottom panel can include at least one slot for receiving a tab of the other to latch the top panel to the sidewall structure and/or the bottom panel.
  • In certain embodiments, the sidewall structure forms a substantially round shape. The sidewall structure can include a plurality of side panels folded to form the sidewall structure. The plurality of side panels include one or more folding edge flaps configured to allow fold lines of the side panels to align.
  • The side panels can include a plurality of rectangular side panels. The rectangular side panels can be folded together to approximate a circular shape and wherein there is a folding edge flap between each rectangular side panel. In such embodiments, for example, folding edge flaps can be glued to the flat side panels.
  • In certain embodiments, a mid-panel can be attached at a fold line to the sidewall structure and configured to partially cover the cavity when folded over the cavity. The top panel can be configured to fold over the mid-panel to at least partially cover the mid-panel. The mid-panel can include one or more slits defined at an edge thereof and configured to allow a tab of a top panel and/or sidewall structure to pass therethrough.
  • Any suitable container, blank, or method in accordance with this disclosure and/or described below and/or shown in the drawings are contemplated herein.
  • These and other features of the systems and methods of the subject disclosure will become more readily apparent to those skilled in the art from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the drawings.
