Abstract

A two-piece coat or jacket that has a removable liner is provided with a hook and loop fastener strip along it's lower hem. The lining, being removable, can be inverted and secured back to the outer shell via the hook and loop fastener, thereby forming a suitable, insulative sleeping bag for use by individuals unexpectedly caught out of doors overnight.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention
  • This invention related to two-piece jackets or coats that are convertible into a sleeping bag for emergency purposes. For use by hunters, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts that might be caught outdoors or away from camp and become required to stay overnight.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring to FIG. 1, the liner of the coat 102 is removed from the outer shell 101 and arranged in a hem-to-hem orientation for fastening together by way of the hook and loop fastener 103. One component of the hook and loop fastener 103 is sewn into the inside hem of the coat's outer shell 101 while the other component is sewn onto the outer hem of the coat's liner 102.
  • FIG. 2 shows the outer shell 101 and the liner 102 fastened together at the hook and loop fastener 103. The zipped closures 104 are zipped closed. The draw string closure 105 at the neck of the liner 102 is drawn and the sleeves of the liner 106 are tucked into the liner 102.
  • DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART
  • There are examples of coats that convert into sleeping bags on the market today. They utilize extra material that is folded and stowed on the back of the garment, making it bulkier and less convenient for wearing a backpack.
  • There are no U.S. patents found with jackets or coats utilizing a two-piece design that allows the lining to be inverted and used for the lower half of the sleeping bag when reconfigured for that purpose.
  • A combination jacket or coat with a removable liner that can be converted into a sleeping bag is superior to all other designs in that it can be configured in many ways, including;
  • 1) It can be worn with the liner in the water-proofed outer shell.
  • 2) The liner can be worn by itself
  • 3) The outer water-proofed jacket can be worn by itself.
  • 4) Finally, it can be converted into a sleeping bag.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 shows the liner of the coat in proper orientation with the outer shell before fastening the two for sleeping.
  • FIG. 2 shows the liner and the outer shell fastened together via the hook and loop fastener in the proper configuration for sleeping.

Claims (1)
