Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD
  • The present application relates generally to the technical field of bedding, and more specifically, t the technical field of a system, and method for covering a mattress topper and securing the mattress topper to a mattress to prevent movement of the mattress topper.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Mattress toppers are removable bedding that sits on top of a mattress. Mattress toppers are generally a cushioned layer or pad that rests on top of a mattress to increase mattress comfort and support. Mattress toppers may be used to supplement the comfort of one's mattress or address a mattress' limitations. For example, a mattress topper may be used to add support to a mattress that is too soft. Alternatively, or in addition to, a mattress topper may be used to add a level of softness to while not taking away from the support of the mattress.
  • Mattresses toppers may have covers which may be used to protect the outer surfaces of the mattress topper. The mattress topper covers may also be used to provide a smoother and/or plusher surface on the mattress topper. In general, mattress topper covers may be formed of a flat rectangle sheet of quilted material which is positioned on top surface of the mattress topper. Straps may be used to secure the mattress topper cover to the top surface of the mattress topper.
  • Alternatively, mattress topper covers may be configured similar to a fitted bed sheet, in this configuration, the rectangle sheet of quilted material may extend down over the front, rear and side edges of the mattress topper. The rectangle sheet of quilted material may have four corners which extend over the corners of the mattress topper. One or more of the four corners may be fitted with elastic and/or a drawstring to secure the mattress topper cover to the mattress topper.
  • Unfortunately; mattress toppers tend to shift and move over time. In order to adjust the position of the mattress topper cover, one generally has to remove the bedding. This is generally time consuming, and depending on the size of the bed, may require more than one person to replace the bedding.
  • Therefore, it would be desirable to provide a system and method that overcomes the above. The system and method would keep the mattress topper in position on the mattress.
