Description
- The present application is related to and claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/636,490 filed Feb. 28, 2018, which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.
- The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
- The present invention relates generally to the field of beauty salon devices and more specifically relates to a shampoo bowl.
- Clients of a beauty salon who receive any type of a treatment or procedure which requires the washing or wetting of their hair, or a facial treatment, typically recline in a chair and place their neck through and onto a U-shaped opening formed in the side of a shampoo bowl and lean their head back into the bowl. Without support, this posture may strain the client's neck, spine, and back muscles.
- Traditional basins for shampooing hair as used in a hair salon or barber shop are adapted to wash short to medium length hair. The problem is that longer hair bunches up at the bottom of the basin, often sliding through the drain at the bottom thereof and contacting the unsanitary drain-pipe. Moreover, the bunching of the long hair causes substantial tangling, creating potential for further problems and damage to the hair. The resultant tangled hair must be combed and/or brushed by the stylist. The tangles are often difficult to comb-out, inflicting pain on the client and substantial damage to the hair roots. A suitable solution is desired.
- U.S. Pub. No. 2006/0053545 to Kim Schulken relates to a long hair shampoo basin. The described long hair shampoo basin includes a long hair shampoo basin for use at barber shops and beauty salons. More specifically, the present invention is directed to shampoo basins which are adapted for shampooing longer hair than is accommodated by present basins without dragging the hair on the bottom of the basin. A variable height screen may be positioned within the basin to vary the effective depth of the basin.
- In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known beauty salon devices art, the present disclosure provides a novel deep shampoo bowl system. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a hair washing basin having a depth configured to accommodate especially long hair while shampooing to avoid tangling and discomfort
- A deep shampoo bowl system is disclosed herein. The deep shampoo bowl system includes a hair washing basin, a padded-member, a plurality of sidewalls, and a base including a drain. The hair washing basin is defined by the plurality of sidewalls. The drain is disposed at the base of the hair washing basin. The padded-member is integral to the hair washing basin and positioned at a U-shaped neck opening and configured to support a neck and head of a client during use. The padded-member comprises a substantially similar profile to the U-shaped neck opening. The hair washing basin comprises transparent ceramic allowing a hair stylist to view the hair within the bowl while washing a client's hair. The hair washing basin includes the bowl-depth greater than a length of the hair hanging from a client's head when the client's head is supported by the padded-member so that the hair does not extend to the drain during a hair-washing process.
- For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and detailed description.
- The figures which accompany the written portion of this specification illustrate embodiments and methods of use for the present disclosure, a deep shampoo bowl system, constructed and operative according to the teachings of the present disclosure.
