Abstract
A versatile infant garment includes a garment body, a removable strap, at least one left strap fastener, at least one right strap fastener, at least one left leg-opening closure, at least one right leg-opening closure. The garment body includes a sagittal panel, a front panel, a rear panel, at least one fastener, a neck-opening rim, a left leg-opening rim, and a right leg-opening rim. The fastener is positioned along the sagittal panel and connected onto the front panel, thus providing access to the inside of the garment body. The left leg-opening closure and the right leg-opening closure are respectively integrated onto the left leg-opening rim and the right leg-opening rim, wherein the two closures transform the infant garment in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap. The removable strap is terminally attached to the garment body by the left strap fastener and the right strap fastener.
Description
- The current application is a continuation-in-part (CIP) application of the U.S. design application Ser. No. 29/629,261 filed on Dec. 12, 2017.
- The present invention relates generally to infant clothing. More specifically, the present invention is a versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap. The present invention also includes a removable strap to enhance the safety features as the removable strap secures the versatile infant garment to a pillow.
- A onesie is an infant's one-piece and close-fitting lightweight garment. Onesies usually have short or long sleeves but leaving the legs uncovered and fastening with snaps at the crotch. More specifically, the onesie is a garment that is designed to be worn by infants much like a T-shirt, but they are distinguished from T-shirts by an extension below the waist, with fastenings that allow it to be closed over the crotch. The purpose of the opening at the crotch is to facilitate access to the infant's diaper. However, onesies fail to cover the legs of an infant similar to a swaddle wrap as the infant's legs are generally exposed. The swaddle wrap is a lightweight fabric and covers an infant's body, except the head. The swaddle wrap generally includes a pouch and adjustable wings so that the infant can be placed within the pouch and wrapped by the adjustable wings. The swaddle wrap can keep an infant from being disturbed by their own startle reflex, and it can help them warm for the first few days of life until their internal thermostat kicks in. The swaddle wrap may even help to calm your baby when they just need to feel something similar to the tightness and security of the womb.
- It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between the onesie and the swaddle wrap. More specifically, the present invention comprises openable leg holes which enable the conversion between the onesie and the swaddle wrap. As a result, caregivers can easily utilize the functionalities of the onesie and the swaddle wrap without having to disturb the infant. Furthermore, the present invention comprises a removable strap that allows the caregivers to secure the present invention to any type of pillow. As a result, the present invention is able to prevent accidental slippage of the infant.

- The present invention is a versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between the onesie and the swaddle wrap. More specifically, the present invention comprises openable leg holes which enable the conversion between the onesie and the swaddle wrap. As a result, caregivers can easily utilize the functionalities of the onesie and the swaddle wrap without having to disturb the infant. Furthermore, the present invention also prevents accidental slippage of the infant.
- The present invention comprises a
garment body 1, aremovable strap 13, at least oneleft strap fastener 16, at least oneright strap fastener 19, at least one left leg-opening closure 22, and at least one right leg-openingclosure 23 as shown inFIG. 1 andFIG. 5 . Thegarment body 1 that encloses the infant's body comprises asagittal panel 2, afront panel 3, arear panel 6, at least onefastener 7, a neck-opening rim 8, a left leg-openingrim 11, a right leg-openingrim 12, a left arm-opening rim 9, and a right arm-openingrim 10. In reference to the general configuration of the present invention, thefastener 7 is positioned along thesagittal panel 2 and connected onto thefront panel 3. Resultantly, thefastener 7 provides an opening to place the infant within thegarment body 1. The left leg-opening rim 11 and the right leg-openingrim 12 are positioned opposite of each other about thesagittal panel 2 and perimetrically connected to thefront panel 3 and therear panel 6. The left leg-openingrim 11 and the right leg-openingrim 12 provide a pair of openings so that the infant's legs can be either extended out of thegarment body 1 or placed within thegarment body 1. More specifically, the left leg-opening closure 22 is integrated onto the left leg-opening rim 11. The right leg-opening closure 23 is integrated onto the right leg-openingrim 12. When the infant's legs are placed within thegarment body 1, the left leg-openingclosure 22 and the right leg-openingclosure 23 are at a closed position thus forming the swaddle wrap. When the infant's legs are extended out of thegarment body 1, the left leg-opening closure 22 and the right leg-openingclosure 23 are at an opened position thus forming the onesie. Theremovable strap 13 is terminally attached to thegarment body 1 by theleft strap fastener 16 and theright strap fastener 19, wherein theremovable strap 13 allow thegarment body 1 to be secured to a feeding pillow or any other type of pillow. The left arm-opening rim 9 and the right arm-openingrim 10 are positioned opposite of each other about thesagittal panel 2 and adjacent to the neck-openingrim 8. The left arm-opening rim 9 and the right arm-openingrim 10 are perimetrically connected to thefront panel 3 and therear panel 6 so that the left arm-opening rim 9 and the right arm-openingrim 10 can function as a pair of openings to insert infant's arms when necessary. - The
front panel 3 and therear panel 6 are preferably made from cotton or any other types of materials that are gentle and safe against infant's skin. In reference toFIG. 1-5 , thefront panel 3 and therear panel 6 are sectionally connected to each other thus delineating five different openings so that the neck-opening rim 8, the left leg-openingrim 11, the right leg-openingrim 12, the left arm-opening rim 9, and the right arm-opening rim 10 can be connected around each opening. Thefront panel 3 comprises aleft section 4 and aright section 5, wherein thesagittal panel 2 symmetrically separates theleft section 4 and theright section 5. Furthermore, theleft section 4 and theright section 5 provide two separate sections within thefront panel 3 so that thefastener 7 can be connected. Thefastener 7 is connected along theleft section 4 and theright section 5 so that thefastener 7 can extend along thefront panel 3. Thefastener 7 is preferably a double zipper and enables the separation of theleft section 4 and theright section 5 from a top end of thefastener 7 or a bottom end of thefastener 7 as shown inFIG. 9-10 . However, thefastener 7 is not limited to a double zipper within the present invention and can be any other types of fasteners such as button fasteners, hook and loop fasteners, and male and female fasteners. - The neck-opening
rim 8 provides an additional layer of material around the infant's neck. In reference toFIG. 5 , the neck-opening rim 8 is positioned in between the left arm-opening rim 9 and the right arm-openingrim 10 and about a neck opening from the five different openings. The neck-opening rim 8 is perimetrically connected around theleft section 4, therear panel 6, and theright section 5 in such a way that thefastener 7 is able to open and close the neck-openingrim 8 with respect to theleft section 4 and theright section 5. Additionally, the neck-openingrim 8 structurally strengthens the neck opening thus enhancing the reliability of thegarment body 1. - The left leg-
opening rim 11 and the right leg-openingrim 12 provide an additional layer of material around the infant's legs. In reference toFIG. 3-4 , the left leg-opening rim 11 is positioned about a left leg opening from the five different openings and perimetrically connected to theleft section 4 and therear panel 6. The right leg-openingrim 12 is positioned about a right leg opening from the five different openings and perimetrically connected to theright section 5 and therear panel 6. Additionally, the left leg-openingrim 11 and the right leg-openingrim 12 structurally strengthen the left leg opening and the right leg opening thus enhancing the reliability of thegarment body 1. In reference toFIG. 3-4 , the left leg-openingclosure 22 is connected adjacent to theleft section 4 and therear panel 6 so that the left leg opening can be selectively closed or opened. The right leg-openingclosure 23 is connected adjacent to theright section 5 and therear panel 6 so that the right leg opening can be selectively closed or opened. As a result, caregivers can easily open or close the left leg opening and the right leg opening as the present invention transforms in between the onesie and the swaddle wrap. When the left leg-openingclosure 22 and the right leg-openingclosure 23 are at the closed position, the left leg opening and the right leg opening are closed within the present invention. Resultantly, the infant's legs can be kept within thegarment body 1 as the present invention resembles a swaddle wrap. When the left leg-openingclosure 22 and the right leg-openingclosure 23 are at the opened position, the left leg opening and the right leg opening are opened within the present invention. Resultantly, the infant's legs can be extended out from thegarment body 1 as the present invention resembles a onesie. - The left arm-opening rim 9 and the right arm-opening
rim 10 provide an additional layer of material around the infant's arms. In reference toFIG. 5 , the left arm-opening rim 9 is positioned about a left arm opening from the five different openings and perimetrically connected to theleft section 4 and therear panel 6. The right arm-openingrim 10 is positioned about a right arm opening from the five different openings and perimetrically connected to theright section 5 and therear panel 6. Additionally, the left arm-opening rim 9 and the right arm-openingrim 10 structurally strengthen the left arm opening and the right arm opening thus enhancing the reliability of thegarment body 1. In reference toFIG. 5 , at least one left arm-openingclosure 24 of the present invention is positioned adjacent to theleft section 4 and therear panel 6 so that the left arm opening can be selectively closed or opened. A right arm-openingclosure 25 of the present invention is positioned adjacent to theright section 5 and therear panel 6 so that the right arm opening can be selectively closed or opened. More specifically, the left arm-openingclosure 24 is integrated onto the left arm-opening rim 9, and the right arm-openingclosure 25 is integrated onto the right arm-openingrim 10. As a result, caregivers can easily open or close the left arm opening and the right arm opening as the present invention is within the configurations of the onesie and the swaddle wrap. When the left arm-openingclosure 24 and the right arm-openingclosure 25 are at the closed position, the left arm opening and the right arm opening are closed within the present invention. Resultantly, the infant's arms can be kept within thegarment body 1 as the present invention resembles a swaddle wrap or a onesie. When the left arm-openingclosure 24 and the right arm-openingclosure 25 are at the opened position, the left arm opening and the right arm opening are opened within the present invention. Resultantly, the infant's arms can be extended out from thegarment body 1 as the present invention resembles a swaddle wrap or a onesie. - In reference to
FIG. 6 , theleft strap fastener 16 that terminally secures theremovable strap 13 to thegarment body 1 about theleft section 4 comprises afirst fastener 17 and asecond fastener 18. Theleft strap fastener 16 is preferably a zipper so that the caregivers can easily attach or detach theremovable strap 13 to thegarment body 1. However, theleft strap fastener 16 is not limited to the zipper and can be any other types of fasteners such as such as button fasteners, hook and loop fasteners, and male and female fasteners. More specifically, thefirst fastener 17 of theleft strap fastener 16 is connected onto therear panel 6 and positioned adjacent to the left arm-opening rim 9. Thesecond fastener 18 of theleft strap fastener 16 is connected onto aleft end 14 of theremovable strap 13. As a result, thefirst fastener 17 and thesecond fastener 18 of theleft strap fastener 16 can be attached to each other thus securing theremovable strap 13 about theleft section 4. - In reference to
FIG. 6 , theright strap fastener 19 that terminally secures theremovable strap 13 to thegarment body 1 about theright section 5 also comprises thefirst fastener 17 and thesecond fastener 18. Theright strap fastener 19 is preferably a zipper so that the caregivers can easily attach or detach theremovable strap 13 to thegarment body 1. However, theright strap fastener 19 is not limited to the zipper and can be any other types of fasteners such as such as button fasteners, hook and loop fasteners, and male and female fasteners. More specifically, thefirst fastener 17 of theright strap fastener 19 is connected onto therear panel 6 and positioned adjacent to the right arm-openingrim 10. Thesecond fastener 18 of theright strap fastener 19 is connected onto aright end 15 of theremovable strap 13. As a result, thefirst fastener 17 and thesecond fastener 18 of theright strap fastener 19 can be attached to each other thus securing theremovable strap 13 about theright section 5. - In reference to
FIG. 7-8 , the present invention further comprises a leftelastic band 26 and a rightelastic band 27. The leftelastic band 26 is perimetrically connected around the left leg-openingrim 11 so that the left leg-openingrim 11 can be safely positioned around the infant's left leg. As a result, the leftelastic band 26 prevents the left leg-openingrim 11 from riding up along the infant's left leg during any leg movements. The rightelastic band 27 is perimetrically connected around the right leg-openingrim 12 so that the right leg-openingrim 12 can be safely positioned around the infant's right leg. As a result, the rightelastic band 27 prevents the right leg-openingrim 12 from riding up along the infant's right leg during any leg movements. - In reference to
FIG. 7 , the present invention further comprises anupper safety flap 28 and alower safety flap 29. More specifically, theupper safety flap 28 is adjacently connected to thefront panel 3 positioned adjacent to the neck-openingrim 8 and the top end of thefastener 7. As a result, theupper safety flap 28 is able to cover the zipper head of thepreferred fastener 7 to prevent foreign object entanglements and minor skin irritations around the infant's neck area. Thelower safety flap 29 is adjacently connected to thefront panel 3 and positioned adjacent to the bottom end of thefastener 7 and in between the left leg-openingrim 11 and the right leg-openingrim 12. As a result, thelower safety flap 29 is able to cover the zipper head of thepreferred fastener 7 to prevent foreign object entanglements and minor skin irritations around the infant's leg area. - Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
Claims (14)
1. A versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap comprises:
a garment body;
a removable strap;
at least one left strap fastener;
at least one right strap fastener;
at least one left leg-opening closure;
at least one right leg-opening closure;
the garment body comprises a sagittal panel, a front panel, a rear panel, at least one fastener, a neck-opening rim, a left leg-opening rim, and a right leg-opening rim;
the fastener being positioned along the sagittal panel;
the fastener being connected onto the front panel;
the left leg-opening rim and the right leg-opening rim being positioned opposite of each other about the sagittal panel;
the left leg-opening rim and the right leg-opening rim being perimetrically connected to the front panel and the rear panel;
the left leg-opening closure being integrated onto the left leg-opening rim;
the right leg-opening closure being integrated onto the right leg-opening rim; and
the removable strap being terminally attached to the garment body by the left strap fastener and the right strap fastener.
2. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the front panel and the rear panel being sectionally connected to each other.
3. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
the front panel comprises a left section and a right section; and
the fastener being connected along the left section and the right section.
4. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
the front panel comprises a left section and a right section;
the neck-opening rim being positioned in between a left arm-opening rim and a right arm-opening rim of the garment body; and
the neck-opening rim being perimetrically connected around the left section, the rear panel, and the right section.
5. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
the front panel comprises a left section and a right section;
the left leg-opening rim being perimetrically connected to the left section and the rear panel; and
the right leg-opening rim being perimetrically connected to the right section and the rear panel.
6. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
the garment body further comprises a left arm-opening rim and a right arm-opening rim;
the left arm-opening rim and the right arm-opening rim being positioned opposite of each other about the sagittal panel;
the left arm-opening rim and the right arm-opening rim being positioned adjacent to the neck-opening rim;
the left arm-opening rim being perimetrically connected to the front panel and the rear panel; and
the right arm-opening rim being perimetrically connected to the front panel and the rear panel.
7. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 6 comprises:
the front panel comprises a left section and a right section;
the left arm-opening rim being perimetrically connected to the left section and the rear panel; and
the right arm-opening rim being perimetrically connected to the right section and the rear panel.
8. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 6 comprises:
at least one left arm-opening closure;
at least one right arm-opening closure;
the left arm-opening closure being integrated onto the left arm-opening rim; and
the right arm-opening closure being integrated onto the right arm-opening rim.
9. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
the left strap fastener comprises a first fastener and a second fastener;
the first fastener being connected onto the rear panel;
the first fastener being positioned adjacent to a left arm-opening rim of the garment body;
the second fastener being connected onto a left end of the removable strap; and
the first fastener and the second fastener being attached to each other.
10. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
the right strap fastener comprises a first fastener and a second fastener;
the first fastener being connected onto the rear panel;
the first fastener being positioned adjacent to a right arm-opening rim of the garment body;
the second fastener being connected onto a right end of the removable strap; and
the first fastener and the second fastener being attached to each other.
11. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
a left elastic band; and
the left elastic band being perimetrically connected around the left leg-opening rim.
12. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
a right elastic band; and
the right elastic band being perimetrically connected around the right leg-opening rim.
13. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
an upper safety flap;
the upper safety flap being adjacently connected to the front panel; and
the upper safety flap being positioned adjacent to the neck-opening rim and the fastener.
14. The versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between a onesie and a swaddle wrap as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
a lower safety flap;
the lower safety flap being adjacently connected to the front panel; and
the lower safety flap being positioned adjacent to the fastener and in between the left leg-opening rim and the right leg-opening rim.
