  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • A onesie is an infant's one-piece and close-fitting lightweight garment. Onesies usually have short or long sleeves but leaving the legs uncovered and fastening with snaps at the crotch. More specifically, the onesie is a garment that is designed to be worn by infants much like a T-shirt, but they are distinguished from T-shirts by an extension below the waist, with fastenings that allow it to be closed over the crotch. The purpose of the opening at the crotch is to facilitate access to the infant's diaper. However, onesies fail to cover the legs of an infant similar to a swaddle wrap as the infant's legs are generally exposed. The swaddle wrap is a lightweight fabric and covers an infant's body, except the head. The swaddle wrap generally includes a pouch and adjustable wings so that the infant can be placed within the pouch and wrapped by the adjustable wings. The swaddle wrap can keep an infant from being disturbed by their own startle reflex, and it can help them warm for the first few days of life until their internal thermostat kicks in. The swaddle wrap may even help to calm your baby when they just need to feel something similar to the tightness and security of the womb.
  • It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a versatile infant garment that effortlessly changes in between the onesie and the swaddle wrap. More specifically, the present invention comprises openable leg holes which enable the conversion between the onesie and the swaddle wrap. The right elastic band 27 is perimetrically connected around the right leg-opening rim 12 so that the right leg-opening rim 12 can be safely positioned around the infant's right leg. As a result, the right elastic band 27 prevents the right leg-opening rim 12 from riding up along the infant's right leg during any leg movements.
  • In reference to FIG. 7, the present invention further comprises an upper safety flap 28 and a lower safety flap 29. More specifically, the upper safety flap 28 is adjacently connected to the front panel 3 positioned adjacent to the neck-opening rim 8 and the top end of the fastener 7. As a result, the upper safety flap 28 is able to cover the zipper head of the preferred fastener 7 to prevent foreign object entanglements and minor skin irritations around the infant's neck area. The lower safety flap 29 is adjacently connected to the front panel 3 and positioned adjacent to the bottom end of the fastener 7 and in between the left leg-opening rim 11 and the right leg-opening rim 12. As a result, the lower safety flap 29 is able to cover the zipper head of the preferred fastener 7 to prevent foreign object entanglements and minor skin irritations around the infant's leg area.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
