- The present application is related to and claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/524,446 filed Jun. 23, 2017, which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.
- The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
- The present invention relates generally to the field of clothes hangers and more specifically relates to a hanger for heavy garments.
- A clothes hanger, or coat hanger, is a device in the shape of human shoulders designed to facilitate the hanging of a coat, jacket, sweater, shirt, blouse or dress in a manner that prevents wrinkles, with a lower bar for the hanging of trousers or skirts. Some hangers include clamps for the hanging of trousers, skirts, or kilts. Both types can be combined in a single hanger.
- Plastic and flimsy wire hangers often lose their shape when a pair of heavy jeans is hung. The jeans do not stay neat enough to wear without being ironed. A broken hanger can put an individual at risk for injury if he/she is unaware that the hanger is broken when reaching inside a closet. Further, when jeans are folded, creases may form from being stacked on top of one another. An effective alternative is needed.
- U.S. Pat. No. 7,178,706 to James L. Socha relates to a heavy-duty garment hanger. The described heavy-duty garment hanger includes a hanger of hollow stainless steel construction, which can hold heavy articles of clothing. The hanger is made from hollow filamentous tubing shaped into an upwardly projecting hook adapted to engage a structure allowing the hanger to hang and a body having shoulder portions extending generally outwardly from the hook and an elongated cross member interconnecting the shoulder portions. A second length of hollow filamentous stainless steel tubing may be inserted and disposed concentrically within a portion of the first length of tubing, then bent to form the hook. A plug is inserted into the end of the hook.

The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a hanger for hanging heavy garments, such as denim jeans, therefrom.
- A hanger is disclosed herein, the hanger having a vertical axis defined by a top side and a bottom side, and a horizontal axis defined by a left side, and a right side, the pants having a folded-state and an unfolded-state. The hanger includes a hanger hook, a right arm, a left arm, and a bottom support. The hanger hook is positioned on the vertical axis and defines the top side. The right arm is coupled to the hanger hook, defining the right side, and extends downward and to the right of the hanger hook. Similarly, the left arm is coupled to the hanger hook, defining the left side, and extends downward and to the left of the hanger. The bottom support is made of wood and has a right end coupled to the right arm distally from the hanger hook, and also has a left end coupled to the left arm distally from the hanger hook, the bottom support includes a horizontal section configured to receive and support the pants when in their folded-state.
- A method of using a hanger is also disclosed herein. The method of using a hanger may comprise the steps of: providing the hanger as above; holding the hanger; folding the pants in the folded-state over the bottom support; securing the hanger hook over a hook-receiving surface; and hanging the pants from the hook-receiving surface.
- For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification.
