Description

    (a) TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention generally relates to a rotary disc structure of a polishing/grinding machine, and more particularly to a rotary disc structure of a polishing/grinding machine that carries out efficient polishing and waxing operations on an automobile body, without causing scratching of the automobile body.
  • (b) DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
  • Automobiles are commonly used transportation in the modern society. A lot of families own automobiles. Generally speaking, the automobiles are expensive commodity and thus, in addition to transportation, the automobiles are also a luxury of indication of social position for rich people. Thus, maintenances of automobiles are sometimes very expensive and elaborate. For example, the paint of an automobile must be periodically cleaned and properly waxed in order to eliminate attachment of contaminants to the automobile body and also to protect the paint from being corroded by acidic rainwater and to make the paint shinny and glittering. Generally, the commonly adopted way of waxing an automobile is to first attaching wax for automobiles to a sponge and then the sponge is fast rotated on the automobile body to wax the automobile body. With the progress of technology and science, electrical polishing devices are now available, and the sponge for waxing can be attached to a rotary dis, which is in turn coupled to an electric motor so that the electrical motor may drive the sponge to fast rotate thereby achieving an effect of fast waxing on the paint of the automobile. In addition, the electric polishing device is also operable for polishing and removing scratching of the automobile paint.
  • However, the electric polishing devices that are currently known are often configured with a rotary disc that is generally a circular flat surface. Compared to hand waxing operation, the electric polishing device shows features of fast waxing and polishing for scratching removal, but use of such an electric polishing device is not convenient. The rotary disc is coupled, with a center thereof, to an electric motor and thus, the part of the rotary disc that is relatively distant from the center of rotation would carry a relative large torque. In other words, when the rotary disc rotates, a radially outer portion of the rotary disc would apply a relative large force to the automobile body. Consequently, the operation of waxing or scratching removal for an automobile body is generally conducted with the radially outer part of the rotary disc. However, since the surface of an automobile body often include curved parts and these parts make the operation of waxing or scratching removal of the automobile body inconvenient with the rotary disc that is generally of a flat surface. Particularly, the outer circumferential part of the rotary disc often undesirably causes scratching of the automobile paint.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to achieve easy and efficient automobile body polishing and scratching removal or waxing without causing undesired scratching on the automobile body by means of an arrangement of a slope section.
  • Another objective of the present invention is to allow a cleansing member, such as a sponge, to be coupled to a rotary disc by means of an arrangement of a coupling section.
  • A further objective of the present invention is to achieve an effect of efficiency and effort saving by coupling a rotary disc to an electric motor by means of an arrangement of a coupling section.
  • To achieve the above objectives, the present invention provides a structure that comprises a disc, and the disc is configured with a flat section and at least one slope section located on an outer side of the flat section. The flat section is provided with at least one coupling section, and the coupling section can be used to couple a cleansing member, such as sponge, to the disc. Further, the disc is provided on a side thereof that is distant from the coupling section with a coupling member. The coupling member can be coupled to an electric motor. As such, with an attempt to wax or polish an automobile body, a user attaches wax to the cleansing member and activates the electric motor to uniformly coat the wax on the automobile body. However, during the rotation of the disc, the slope section that is located on the outer side may apply a relatively large operation force to the automobile body so that polishing or waxing the automobile body with the slope section would allow the operation to be conducted on a curved part of the automobile body, making the user more convenient and efficient, and further, the arrangement of the inclination prevents an edge of the disc from scratching and damaging the automobile body, so as to provide practical improvement in respect of utilization thereof.
  • With the above techniques, the problems of the prior art rotary disc of an electrical polishing device that the use is inconvenient and may readily cause scratching and damage to an automobile body can be overcome to achieve the practical improvement in respect of utilization of this invention as mentioned above.
  • The foregoing objectives and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. • FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view showing another embodiment of the present invention, with a portion being enlarged and illustrated in an enlarged form for showing details.
  • FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view showing a further embodiment of the present invention, with a portion being enlarged and illustrated in an enlarged form for showing details.
  • FIG. 7 is a schematic view illustrating an operation of use of said further embodiment of the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • The following descriptions are exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.
  • Referring to FIGS. 1-3, which are respectively a perspective view showing a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a cross-sectional view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention, and another cross-sectional view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it can be clearly seen from these drawings that the present invention comprises:
  • a disc 1, wherein the disc 1 is configured with a flat section 11 and at least one slope section 12 located on an outer side of the flat section 11;
  • at least one coupling section 13 provided on the flat section 11, wherein the coupling section 13 comprises for example a piece of hook-and-loop fastener for coupling with at least one cleansing member 2, wherein the cleansing member 2 is for example a sponge; and
  • a coupling member 14 provided on a side of the disc 1 that is distant from the coupling section 13, wherein the coupling member 14 is formed with a through-hole section 141 and the through-hole section 141 is formed with at least one threaded section 142 for coupling with an electric motor 3, wherein the coupling member 14 is formed, on a side thereof that is distant from the through-hole section 141, with at least one fixing section 143.
  • Referring to FIGS. 1-4, which are respectively a perspective view showing a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a cross-sectional view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention, another cross-sectional view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention, and a schematic view illustrating an operation of use of the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it can be clearly seen from these drawings that with an attempt to wax or polish an automobile body 4, a user may couple the cleansing member 2 to the coupling section 13 and screw the coupling member 14, by means of the threaded section 142 formed in the through-hole section 141, to the electric motor 3 so as to couple the disc 1 and the electric motor 3 together. The fixing section 143 provided on the coupling member 14 allows the user to apply a wrench to easily couple or remove the coupling member 14 to or from the electric motor 3. Further, the user may attach wax to the cleansing member 2 and then activate the electric motor 3 to allow the electric motor 3 to drive the cleansing member 2 to rotate so that the cleansing member 2 may coat the wax uniformly on the automobile body 4. However, since, during the rotation of the disc 1, the slope section 12 that is spaced from a center of the disc 1 by a distance greater than a distance of a part or the entirety of the flat section 11 from the center the disc 1 provides a torque larger than that provided by the flat section and thus would apply a relatively large operation force to the automobile body 4. Thus, the operation of waxing or polishing for scratching removal of the automobile body 4 can be conducted in a more efficient way by means of the slope section 12. It is more important that the slope section 12 is arranged as being inclined with respect to the flat section 11 and can thus be positioned more closely and tightly on a curved part of the automobile body 4. Further, in use, the inclined arrangement of the slope section 12 allows an outer circumferential edge of the disc 1 not to easily contact the automobile body 4, so that undesired scratching on the automobile body 4 by the edge of the disc 1 can be prevented.
  • Further, the disc 1 is integrally formed as a unitary structure and thus possesses the advantages of efficient fabrication and cost saving.
  • Referring to FIG. 5, which is a cross-sectional view showing another embodiment of the present invention, it can be clearly seen from the drawing that a disc 1 a is configured with a flat section 11 a and at least one slope section 12 a arranged at an outer side of the flat section 11 a and the slope section 12 a is provided with at least one coupling section 13 a for coupling with a cleansing member 2 a. The disc 1 a is formed, on a side thereof that is distant from the coupling section 13 a, with a coupling member 14 a that is formed with a through-hole section 141 a comprising a threaded section 142 a for coupling the disc 1 a to an electric motor. Further, the coupling member 14 a is provided with a fixing section 143 a that allows a user to use a wrench to easily couple or remove the coupling member 14 a to or from the electric motor. A difference of the instant embodiment from the previous embodiment is that the coupling section 13 a is provided on the slope section 12 a, rather than the flat section 11 a so that the cleansing member 2 a can be more closely positioned on the slope section 12 a to achieve the purpose of preventing a circumferential edge of the disc 1 a from scratching the automobile body.
  • Referring to FIGS. 6 and 7, which are respectively a cross-sectional view showing a further embodiment of the present invention and a schematic view illustrating an operation of use of said further embodiment of the present invention, it can be clearly seen from the drawings that a disc 1 b is configured with a flat section 11 b and at least one slope section 12 b arranged at an outer side of the flat section 11 b, wherein the flat section 11 b and the slope section 12 b are provided with at least one coupling section 13 b. The coupling section 13 b is provided for coupling with at least one cleansing member 2 b so that a user may use the electric motor 3 b to drive a cleansing member 2 b that is coupled to the disc 1 b to conduct waxing or polishing for scratching removal on an automobile body 4 b. A difference of the instant embodiment from the previous embodiments is that the coupling section 13 b is provided on both the slope section 12 b and the flat section 11 b so that the cleansing member 2 b can be more closely positioned on both the slope section 12 b and the flat section 11 b to prevent the cleansing member 2 b from easily detaching from the disc 1 b during a waxing operation and thus, achieving the purpose of preventing the disc 1 b from scratching and damaging the automobile body 4 b.
  • Reference is now made to all the drawings. The present invention, when put into use, provides the following advantages over the prior art devices:
  • (1) The arrangement of the slope section 12 allows for easy and efficient polishing and waxing an automobile body 4 without causing undesired scratching or damage to the automobile body 4.
  • (2) The arrangement of the coupling section 13 allows a cleansing member 2, such as sponge, to be coupled to the disc 1.
  • (3) The arrangement of the coupling member 14 allows coupling of the disc 1 to an electric motor 3 to be conducted with an effect of being efficient and effort saving.
  • (4) The arrangement of the fixing section 143 allows the user to use a wrench to easily couple or remove the coupling member 14 to or from an electric motor 3.
  • It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together may also find a useful application in other types of methods differing from the type described above.
  • While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claims, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the claims of the present invention.
