- Chinese Patent No. CN202774143U discloses a design of male underpants that separates the penis, the scrotum and the crotch area from each other.
- the space is most suitable for accommodating the penis in its flaccid state.
- the penis when the penis is in the erected state, it is pressed against the outer cloth. The resulting pressure can cause the organ to bend, leading to discomfort and possible adverse consequences.
- Adult penises tend to roll to the left or right, in either flaccid or erect state. In severe cases, such side-rolling can affect physiological functions of the penis.
- the penis pouch disclosed in Chinese Patent No. CN202774143U does not have a defined shape and cannot provide corrective function to penises that tend to roll to the side.
- the design includes only one ventilation gap, which does not lead to good ventilation to keep the genitalia in a cool and dry state.
- Chinese Patent No. CN204335838U discloses a straight tube-like pocket for holding the penis when it is erected. When the penis is in the flaccid state, it cannot extend into the penis pocket. Instead, the penis falls naturally through the opening back to the main compartment and is pressed against the scrotum. The design loses the separation function. The penis is mostly in the flaccid state, so most of the time, the design cannot achieve the separation function. The scrotum is very sensitive to moisture and temperature, this requires a good ventilation. The only ventilation gap locates on the top, which does not fulfill the requirement of keeping the scrotum at a cool and dry state. As such, the design in Chinese Patent No. CN204335838U does not allow an easy extraction of penis without taking off the underpants, which causes inconvenience.

In some embodiments, crotch bottom piece 270 is made of materials with mesh structures, providing good ventilation for the genitalia. - The designs disclosed herein are advantageous in emuerous aspects. For example, they provide mechanical support for the scrotum, separate the penis and scrotum (and the groin area) in different compartments, provide a corrective function for the penis in either the flaccid or erect state, ensure a good ventilation to the genitalia, and allow easy extraction of penis without taking off the underpants garment. It would be understood that embodiments disclosed can be applied to any underpants garments that have leg structures which extend below the crotch when worn, including, but are not limited to, shorts, briefs, boxers, boxer briefs, trunks, thongs, and/or tights.
-
FIG. 6 is the front view of an embodiment of the underpants garment in the form of a pair of briefs. The underpants include a main compartment that provides coverage for the lower torso, including the private parts of the wearer. The main compartment includestop opening 610 and bottom openings 620-A and 620-B for the legs.Underpants garment 600 includes center portions 630-A and 630-B, with an opening for the penis to pass through. The bottom ofunderpants garment 600 is connected at the center (e.g., via region 640) such that two bottom leg openings 620-A and 620-B are separated from each other. In some embodiments, underpants garment 600 further includespenis pouch 650, which is connected to main compartment via the opening. Due to the overall tight configuration of this embodiment, the front auxiliary piece and penis pouch adopt a different shape from the design shown in previous embodiments. Specifically, the pouch has a small top horizontal dimension that gradually increases until the opening position. The horizontal dimension of the pouch further decreases below the opening position to the bottom. In some embodiments, the bottom of the penis pouch is made of loose fabric for comfortable accommodation of the penis. In most embodiments, loose fabric forming the bottom ofpenis pouch 650 provides a depth for comfortable accommodation of the penis.FIG. 7 shows a side perspective view of one embodiment of an underpants garment in accordance to the current disclosure, illustrating how several important designs are featured in a relatively tight underpants garment. Here, bottom ventilation gap 660 is formed between the front penis pouch and scrotum sac 640 (the scrotum sac is part of the main compartment of the underpants garment). The penis in a flaccid state falls naturally into the bottom ventilation gap in the penis pouch. The penis, the scrotum, and the groin area are isolated from each other: the penis is in a separate pouch, although the scrotum and the groin area are both in the main compartment, the scrotum is kept in a localized sac that is relatively isolated from the rest of the main compartment. The center position of the bottom ventilation gap helps to set the organ straight, without rolling to either side. Importantly, the ventilation gap allows easy extraction of the penis for urination without taking off the underpants. -
FIG. 8 shows an exemplary embodiment ofunderpants 800. Front auxiliary piece is removed to reveal details of anterior pieces 730-A and 730-B. Bottom side ofwaist band 710 connects the top ofside panel 790,anterior piece 720, and the top ofposterior piece 770. In some embodiments, waist band 710 is elastic. The width ofwaist band 710 can also vary with the type of underpants. For example, a pair of briefs may have a relatively narrow waist band. In some embodiments, waist band 710 is part ofanterior piece 720 andposterior piece 770. For example, the top ofanterior piece 720 andposterior piece 770 can be folded to form a circular pocket for housing an elastic band. In other embodiments, an elastic band is sewn directly to the top ofanterior piece 720 andposterior piece 770. - In some embodiments, there are no separate leg pieces in the anterior part of the underpants such as in a tight design of a brief embodiment.
Anterior piece 720 is connected to sidepanels 790, respectively. In some embodiments, side panels 790 are made of fabrics with ventilation properties. In some embodiments, side panels 790 are decorative and of different colors from anterior pieces and posterior pieces. - In some embodiments,

In some embodiments, anterior piece 720 includes top panels 730-A and 730-B, and bottom panels 740-A and 740-B. In some embodiments, opening 750 is located within the top panels. - In some embodiments, bottom panels 740-A and 740-B of the
anterior piece 720 form a sac for accommodating the scrotum, separating it from the groin area. In some embodiments, the sac is designed to accommodate the scrotum and made with loose and flexible fabric. In some embodiments, the scrotum sac is made with fabrics having ventilation properties. In some embodiments, asingle crotch piece 760 is joined with bottom panels 740-A and 740-B on one side, and withposterior piece 770 on the other side. -
FIG. 9 provides a close-up view ofauxiliary piece 650 andcenter piece 720 that is at least partially covered by the frontauxiliary piece 650. As disclosed herein, frontauxiliary piece 650 coversopening 750 and forms an enclosed pouch for the penis.Auxiliary piece 650 is sewn ontocenter piece 720 along its borders. In some embodiments, the seams along the borders are discontinuous and contain one or more ventilation gaps that can provide good ventilation. In some embodiments, frontauxiliary piece 650 includes atop ventilation gap 652. In some embodiments, frontauxiliary piece 650 includes two side ventilation gaps: 656-A, and 656-B. Frontauxiliary piece 650 forms a front pouch such that the inside of the main compartment of the male underpants garment and the interior space of the front pouch form a continuous space connected via opening 750 in the anterior piece. In some embodiments, frontauxiliary piece 650 has similar top and bottom dimensions. - The designs disclosed herein are advantageous over existing products being sold on Amazon, which are disclosed in Chinese Patent No. CN202774143U issued in 2013 and Chinese Patent No. CN204335838U issued in 2015.
- Chinese Patent No. CN202774143U discloses a design of male underpants that separates the penis, the scrotum and the crotch area from each other. The space is most suitable for accommodating the penis in its flaccid state. However, when the penis is in the erected state, it is pressed against the outer cloth. The resulting pressure can cause the organ to bend, leading to discomfort and possible adverse consequences. Adult penises tend to roll to the left or right, in either flaccid or erect state. In severe cases, such side-rolling can affect physiological functions of the penis. The penis pouch disclosed in Chinese Patent No. CN202774143U does not have a defined shape and cannot provide corrective function to penises that tend to roll to the side. The design includes only one ventilation gap, which does not lead to good ventilation to keep the genitalia in a cool and dry state.
- The current designs are developed based on feedback from customers of the two prior designs and cure various deficiencies of the prior designs. A series of experimental designs were tested by professional test-wears. Indeed, the current designs precisely address existing defects of the prior designs and offer improvements over both designs.
- Disclosed embodiments in this application feature numerous benefits. A separate scrotum sac provides mechanical support for the scrotum, preventing diseases such as varicocele. The mechanical support for the scrotum is critically important when the wearer is in a motion state during active sports. Fabrics with good ventilation properties are used to make the pocket to ensure that the scrotum is in a cool and dry state. An opening in the insert center piece(s) separates the penis from scrotum, a penis pouch formed by the insert pieces and front auxiliary pieces provides a separate space for the placement of penis. The penis, the scrotum, and the groin area are separated from each other in different compartments or different parts of the same compartment. Contact and frictions between different organs are effectively avoided, which helps to prevent diseases such as eczema. The seams between front auxiliary pieces and insert center pieces is discontinuous, with especially large gaps on the two sides. The design of side panels allows extra ventilation properties to be added (through use of materials of good ventilation properties). In some embodiments, materials with mesh structures are used to make the side panels. Heat and moist accumulated in the main compartment can be released through the side panels, ventilation gaps on the top and side of the penis pouch (as illustrated in
FIG. 4 ), the ventilation gap between the penis pouch and the scrotum sac. Such designs implementing these features can provide comfort to athletes during active sports. - The penis pouch in the disclosed embodiments also features other advantages. For example, the top, side and bottom ventilation gaps allow quick release of heat and moist. A penis at its erect state freely protrudes into the top portion of the penis pouch without being pressured. Small dimension of the top portion of the penis pouch helps to maintain the erected penis in the right position, providing corrective functions. When in the flaccid state, the penis naturally falls into the larger bottom portion of the penis pouch. The center position of the bottom gap with a tight design provides correction functions for the penis in the flaccid state. Furthermore, a bottom ventilation gap allows easy extraction of the penis for urination without taking off the underpants garment. Lastly but very importantly, adding a separate bottom crotch piece provides a horizontal expansion for the spaces of the featured penis pouch, scrotum sac, and the underpants garment as a whole. Ventilation is further improved by the further expanded design benefited from the crotch piece. Pressure on the genitalia is avoided for people who have strong and bulky muscles or are overweight, thus preventing possible discomfort to such users.
- Those skilled in the art will recognize, or be able to ascertain, using no more than routine experimentation, numerous equivalents to the specific structures and procedures described herein. Such equivalents are considered to be within the scope of this disclosure, and are covered by the following claims.
