  • The disclosure and prior art relates to comb devices and more particularly pertains to a new comb device for selectively dispensing a fluid.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a comb that may be manipulated thereby facilitating the comb to comb hair. The comb has a reservoir and the reservoir may contain a fluid. Thus, the fluid may be selectively delivered outwardly from the comb when the comb combs the hair. A pump is coupled to the comb and the pump may be manipulated. The pump is in fluid communication with the reservoir. Thus, the pump selectively urges the fluid outwardly from the comb.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a fluid dispensing comb assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a bottom perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a cross sectional view taken along line 5-5 of FIG. 4 of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new comb device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the fluid dispensing comb assembly 10 generally comprises a comb 12 that may be manipulated thereby facilitating the comb 12 to comb hair. The comb 12 has a reservoir 14 and the reservoir 14 may contain a fluid 16. Thus, the fluid 16 may be selectively delivered outwardly from the comb 12 when the comb 12 combs the hair. The fluid 16 may be a medicinal hair treatment, a hair styling fluid or other fluid 16 commonly associated with hair care.
  • The comb 12 comprises a handle 18 that has a top end 20, a bottom end 22 and an outer wall 24 extending therebetween. The bottom end 22 is open and the handle 18 is substantially hollow to define the reservoir 14. The outer wall 24 has an inner surface 26 and an outer surface 28. The inner surface 26 is threaded adjacent to the bottom end 22. The outer wall 24 has an aperture 30 extending into the reservoir 14.
  • The comb 12 extends upwardly from the top end 20 of the handle 18. The comb 12 has a plurality of bristles 32 and a body 34. The body 34 is substantially hollow and the body 34 is in fluid 16 communication with the reservoir 14. Each of the bristles 32 extends laterally away from the body 34. Moreover, the bristles 32 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along the body 34. Each of the bristles 32 has a distal end 36 with respect to the body 34.
  • The plurality of bristles 32 includes a set of first bristles 38 and a set of second bristles 40. Each of the second bristles 40 is centrally positioned between the set of first bristles 38. Each of the second bristles 40 is substantially hollow. Moreover, each of the second bristles 40 is in fluid 16 communication with the body 34. The distal end 36 corresponding to each of the second bristles 40 is open into an interior of the comb 12. Each of the second bristles 40 is in fluid 16 communication with the reservoir 14.
  • A cap 42 is provided. The cap 42 is removably coupled to the bottom end 22 of the handle 18. The cap 42 threadably engages the inner surface 26 of the handle 18. The cap 42 forms a fluid 16 impermeable seal with the handle 18 to retain the fluid 16 in the reservoir 14.
  • A pump 44 is provided. The pump 44 is coupled to the comb 12 and the pump 44 may be manipulated. The pump 44 is in fluid 16 communication with the reservoir 14. Thus, the pump 44 may selectively urge the fluid 16 outwardly from the comb 12.
  • The pump 44 comprises a button 46 that is coupled to the outer surface 28 of the handle 18. The button 46 may be selectively depressed. Moreover, the button 46 may be comprised of a resiliently deformable material such as rubber or the like. The button 46 is positioned in the aperture 30 in the handle 18 and the button 46 closes the aperture 30.
  • The button 46 has a distal surface 48 with respect to the outer surface 28 of the handle 18. The distal surface 48 has an opening 50 that is in fluid 16 communication with the aperture 30. The button 46 urges air into the reservoir 14 when the button 46 is depressed. Thus, the fluid 16 is urged into the body 34 of the comb 12.
  • A valve 52 is coupled to the inner surface 26 of the handle 18 and the valve 52 is aligned with the aperture 30. The valve 52 is selectively positioned in an open position when the button 46 is depressed. Thus, the valve 52 passes air into the reservoir 14 thereby facilitating the fluid 16 in the reservoir 14 to be pressurized. The distal end 36 corresponding to each of the second bristles 40 releases the fluid 16 onto the hair when the button 46 is depressed. The valve 52 is positioned in a closed position when the button 46 is not depressed. Thus, the valve 52 inhibits the fluid 16 from escaping through the opening 50 in the button 46. The valve 52 may be a one way check valve or the like.
  • In use, the cap 42 is removed and the fluid 16 is poured into the reservoir 14. The cap 42 is replaced to retain the fluid 16 in the reservoir 14. The comb 12 is manipulated to comb 12 the hair. The button 46 is selectively depressed to pressurize the fluid 16. Thus, the fluid 16 is urged outwardly from each of the second bristles 40. The fluid 16 is distributed in the hair as the hair is combed.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
