Abstract
A cabinet includes a frame and first and second drawers each coupled to the frame and arranged adjacent to one another. The first and second drawers are independently moveable relative to the frame between open and closed positions. Each of the drawers defines a drawer compartment, with the drawer compartment being disposed within an opening of the frame when the drawer is in the closed position and at least partially outside of the opening when the drawer is in the open position. The cabinet further includes a partition disposed within the drawer compartment of the first drawer to define opposing sections of the first drawer, and storage receptacles removeably mounted to the partition within the drawer compartment and accessible from each of the sections.
Description
- The subject application claims priority to and all of the benefits of Chinese Utility Application No. 201520384897.2, filed Jun. 5, 2015, the contents of which are expressly incorporated herein in their entirety.
- The present disclosure relates generally a cabinet.
- Cabinets often used for storing or displaying articles of various types, sizes, and/or shapes. While cabinets may have various configurations, cabinets typically include doors and/or drawers which are accessible from the front of the cabinet. Some cabinets are configured with one or more drawers, with each drawer having a drawer compartment for storing one or more articles. Typically, the drawer compartment is an open compartment, and the article(s) can be placed within the open drawer compartment.
- An embodiment of the cabinet of the present disclosure comprises a frame defining an opening, first and second drawers each coupled to the frame arranged adjacent to one another and independently moveable relative to the frame between open and closed positions and each of the drawers defining a drawer compartment with the drawer compartment being disposed within the opening when the drawer is in the closed position and at least partially outside of the opening when the drawer is in the open position, a partition disposed within the drawer compartment of the first drawer to define opposing sections of the first drawer, and a plurality of storage receptacles removeably mounted to the partition within the drawer compartment and accessible from each of the sections.

It is to be appreciated that the drawings are merely illustrative and are not necessarily drawn to scale.

FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the cabinet ofFIG. 4 with the trash receptacle removed. - Referring now to the figures, wherein like numerals indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, embodiments of a multi-purpose toolkit or
cabinet 100 are shown and described in detail with reference toFIGS. 1-5 . - As shown in
FIG. 1 , an embodiment of a multi-purpose toolkit orcabinet 100 includes a box body orframe 4 defining an opening 5. Thecabinet 100 further includes afirst drawer 2 arranged vertically and coupled to theframe 4 and asecond drawer 3 arranged vertically and coupled to theframe 4. In an embodiment, thecabinet 100 further includes a third drawer 1 extending across the opening 5 and arranged horizontally and above thefirst drawer 2 and thesecond drawer 3. Typically, thefirst drawer 2, thesecond drawer 3, and the third drawer 1 are opened and closed from the same side. For example, and as shown, thefirst drawer 2, thesecond drawer 3, and the third drawer 1 may be opened and closed from the front of thecabinet 100. - The
first drawer 2 and thesecond drawer 3 are arranged adjacent one another. In an embodiment, thefirst drawer 2 and thesecond drawer 3 may be disposed in bilateral symmetry. In addition, and as shown at least inFIGS. 2-4 , thefirst drawer 2 and thesecond drawer 3 are independently moveable relative to theframe 4 between open and closed positions. In an example, each of the first 2 and second 3 drawers define a drawer compartment 6, 7, with the drawer compartment 6, 7 being disposed within the opening 5 when the 2, 3 is in the closed position and at least partially outside of the opening 5 when thedrawer 2, 3 is in the open position.drawer - The
cabinet 100 further includes at least one track orslides 8 moveably coupled to theframe 4 for enabling thefirst drawer 2 to move between the open and closed positions. In the embodiment shown inFIG. 1 , thetrack 8 may include two pieces that telescope such that one of the pieces moves relative to the other of the pieces when thefirst drawer 2 moves between the open and closed positions. In the embodiment shown inFIG. 2 , thetrack 8 includes a single piece which slides when thefirst drawer 2 moves between open and closed positions. - The
first drawer 2 includes a horizontal floor orbase 21, a front orvertical panel 22, and aback panel 24 with each of the 22, 24 extending vertically from thepanels base 21 and substantially parallel to one another. As shown inFIG. 3 , thecabinet 100 further includes a partition orvertical support plate 25 disposed within the drawer compartment 6 of thefirst drawer 2 to define 26, 27 of theopposing sections first drawer 2. In addition, thepartition 25 is arranged between and substantially perpendicular to thefront 22 and back 24 panels. In an embodiment, thepartition 25 separates the drawer compartment 6 into two substantially 26, 27. In another embodiment, theequal sections partition 25 is positioned such that the partition separates the drawer compartment 6 into 26, 27. For instance, theuneven sections partition 25 may be positioned such that thesection 26 is larger thansection 27, or vice versa. - In an embodiment, and as shown in
FIGS. 1 and 2 , the multi-purpose toolkit orcabinet 100 further includes a plurality of parts bins orstorage receptacles 23 removeably mounted to thepartition 25 within the drawer compartment 6 and accessible from each of the 26, 27. The parts bins orsections storage receptacles 23 may be or include any container, vessel, receptacle, bin, and/or any other suitable structure (having any suitable size and/or shape) that can suitably hold or contain relatively small parts. In an example, each of thestorage receptacles 23 has an opening at the top, and the parts can be placed within thestorage receptacle 23 through the opening at the top. In an embodiment, the parts bins orstorage receptacles 23 are individually removeably coupled to the partition orvertical support plate 25. For example, onestorage receptacle 23 may be removed or detached from thepartition 25 at a time. In another embodiment, two or more of the storage receptacles may be coupled to one another such that the coupledstorage receptacles 25 may be removed or detached from thepartition 25 at the same time. - As shown in
FIG. 3 , the partition orvertical support plate 25 defines a plurality of coupling mechanisms 30 for coupling the parts bins orstorage receptacles 23 to thepartition 25. In an embodiment, each of the coupling mechanisms 30 is a slot defined in thepartition 25. Each slot may have any suitable shape and/or size. In an example, all of the slots have the same shape and/or size. In another example, one or more of the slots may have different sizes and/or shapes. Each of thestorage receptacle 23 may be configured such that thestorage receptacle 23 can be coupled to thepartition 25 utilizing the slot. In an example, thestorage receptacle 23 may have a lip that slides through the slot and hooks thestorage receptacle 23 to thepartition 25. In another example, thestorage receptacle 23 has a vertical side with a buckle bar, hook, or other suitable fastening element disposed on the vertical side, and thepartition 25 includes a slot corresponding to the buckle bar. The buckle bar may be inserted into the corresponding slot to hold thestorage receptacle 23 in a cantilevered position. Alternatively, the buckle bar may be used to fix thestorage receptacle 23 to thepartition 25 via a snap-fit of the buckle bar and slot. - As previously mentioned, the parts bins or
storage receptacles 23 may be individually removeably coupled to the partition orvertical support plate 25. More particularly, and in an embodiment, each of thestorage receptacles 23 is or may be individually coupled to and removeable from thepartition 25 by a respective one of the coupling mechanisms 30. - In an embodiment, the partition or
vertical support plate 25 has at least one row of coupling mechanisms 30 for coupling the parts bins orstorage receptacles 23 to thepartition 25. In the embodiment shown inFIG. 3 , thepartition 25 has three rows of coupling mechanisms 30 for coupling thestorage receptacles 23 to thepartition 25, with each of the rows including four coupling mechanisms 30. In alternative embodiments, thepartition 25 may include one, two, three, four, or more rows of coupling mechanisms 30, with each row including one, two, three, four, or more coupling mechanisms 30. - The
partition 25 further defines a plurality of coupling mechanisms 30 facing each of the 26, 27. In this embodiment, a plurality of theopposing sections storage receptacles 23 is or may be removeably coupled to thepartition 25 within both of the 26, 27 by a selected one of the coupling mechanisms 30. As shown, the coupling mechanisms 30 are accessible from each of theopposing sections 26, 27. Further, each of the coupling mechanisms 30 accessible from one of thesections 26, 27 is aligned with a respective one of the coupling mechanisms 30 accessible from the other of thesections 26, 27. Alternatively, each of the coupling mechanisms 30 accessible from one of thesections 26, 27 could be unaligned with a respective one of the coupling mechanisms 30 accessible from the other of thesections 26, 27. Further, the coupling mechanisms 30 may be substantially uniformly defined on thesections partition 25 facing each of the 26, 27. Accordingly, thesections storage receptacles 23, which are coupled to thepartition 25 by the coupling mechanisms 30, may be substantially uniformly distributed on thepartition 25 facing each of the 26, 27. Alternatively, the coupling mechanisms 30 may be non-uniformly defined on thesections partition 25 facing each of the 26, 27. Accordingly, thesections storage receptacles 23, which are coupled to thepartition 25 by the coupling mechanisms 30, may be staggered on thepartition 25 facing each of the 26, 27.sections - In an embodiment, the partition or
vertical support plate 25 has first 36 and second 37 panels or vertical sides that are fixed. As shown inFIG. 3 , the first panel orvertical side 36 is spaced from the second panel orvertical side 37 with the 36, 37 defining a top 28 of the partition orpanels vertical support plate 25. The partition orvertical support plate 25 further has a plurality ofseparators 29 with each pair ofadjacent separators 29 defining a coupling mechanism 30 at the top 28. As shown, thepartition 25 has four pairs ofseparators 29 defining four coupling mechanisms 30 at the top 28 of thepartition 25. In alternative embodiments, thepartition 25 may include any number ofseparators 29 and, as such, thepartition 25 may have any number of coupling mechanisms 30 at the top 28. - As shown at least in
FIGS. 4 and 5 , thecabinet 100 further includes thesecond drawer 3 including a base orhorizontal floor 31, a front orvertical panel 32 extending vertically from thebase 31, and aback panel 33 extending vertically from thebase 31. In an embodiment, the front 32 and back 33 panels are fixed to thebase 31. Further, the front 32 and back 33 panels may be substantially parallel to one another. As shown, thesecond drawer 3 further includes a vertical fence orsupport 34 for receiving atrash receptacle 35 within the drawer compartment 7. Thetrash receptacle 35 may be any container, vessel, bin, receptacle and/or the like for housing trash, garbage, recyclable products, large and/or small storage items, etc. As shown, thesupport 34 is coupled to the front 32 and back 33 panels. - The
second drawer 3 further includes at least one track or slide 36 moveably coupled to theframe 4 for enabling thesecond drawer 3 to move between the open and closed positions. In the embodiment shown inFIGS. 4 and 5 , thetrack 36 includes a single piece which slides when thesecond drawer 3 moves between open and closed positions. Alternatively, thetrack 36 may include two pieces that telescope, such as thetrack 8 of thefirst drawer 2 shown in the embodiment depicted inFIG. 1 . - The
cabinet 100 further includes the third or conventional drawer 1 extending across the opening 5 of theframe 4 and arranged above the first 2 and second 3 drawers. As shown inFIG. 1 , the third drawer 1 includes an open drawer compartment 9. The third drawer 1 could also include several storage lattices disposed within the drawer compartment 9. In addition, the third drawer 1 may include a track or slide 11 for enabling the third drawer 1 to move between the open and closed positions. - In an embodiment, each of the first 2, second 3, and third 1 drawers includes a
handle 10 for grasping for purposes of opening and/or closing the 2, 3, 1.drawers - The invention has been described in an illustrative manner, and it is be understood that the terminology which has been used is intended to be in the nature of words of description rather than of limitation. It is now apparent to those skilled in the art that many modifications and variations of the present invention are possible in light of the above teachings. It is, therefore, to be understood that the invention may be practiced otherwise than as specifically described.
Claims (15)
1. A cabinet comprising:
a frame defining an opening;
first and second drawers each coupled to said frame arranged adjacent to one another and independently moveable relative to said frame between open and closed positions, and each of said drawers defining a drawer compartment with said drawer compartment being disposed within said opening when said drawer is in said closed position and at least partially outside of said opening when said drawer is in said open position;
a partition disposed within said drawer compartment of said first drawer to define opposing sections of said first drawer; and
a plurality of storage receptacles removeably mounted to said partition within said drawer compartment and accessible from each of said sections.
2. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said storage receptacles are individually removeably coupled to said partition.
3. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said partition defines a plurality of coupling mechanisms for coupling said storage receptacles to said partition.
4. The cabinet as set forth in claim 3 wherein each of said coupling mechanisms is a slot defined in said partition.
5. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said partition has at least one row of coupling mechanisms for coupling said storage receptacles to said partition.
6. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said partition has three rows of coupling mechanisms for coupling said storage receptacles to said partition, with each of said rows including four coupling mechanisms.
7. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said partition defines a plurality of coupling mechanisms and each of said storage receptacles is individually coupled to and removable from said partition by a respective one of said coupling mechanisms.
8. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said partition defines a plurality of coupling mechanisms facing each of said opposing sections, and a plurality of said storage receptacles removeably coupled to said partition within both of said opposing sections by a selected one of said coupling mechanisms.
9. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said partition has first and second panels with said first panel spaced from said second panel and said panels defining a top of said partition, and said partition further has a plurality of separators with each pair of adjacent separators defining a coupling mechanism at said top for coupling one of said storage receptacles to said partition at said top.
10. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said partition defines a plurality of coupling mechanisms accessible from each of said sections with each of said coupling mechanisms accessible from one of said sections being aligned with a respective one of said coupling mechanisms accessible from the other of said sections.
11. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said first drawer further includes a base, a front pane, and a back panel with each of said panels extending vertically from said base and substantially parallel to one another and said partition being arranged between and substantially perpendicular to said front and back panels.
12. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said first drawer further includes at least one track moveably coupled to said frame for enabling said first drawer to move between said open and closed positions.
13. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said second drawer includes a support for receiving a trash receptacle within said drawer compartment.
14. The cabinet as set forth in claim 13 wherein said second drawer includes a base, a front panel, and a back panel with each of said panels extending vertically from said base and substantially parallel to one another, and said support being coupled to said front and back panels.
15. The cabinet as set forth in claim 1 wherein said plurality of drawers further includes a third drawer extending across said opening and arranged above said first and second drawers.
