Abstract

A wall desk/bed is comprised of three sections:

- 1) a base support with spring mechanism that is attached to an existing wall
- 2) a base unit with doors and drawers
- 3) an upper unit with pivoting shelves

When lowered, it becomes a full-size bed. What is unique about this invention is that when it's in the down position it looks like a standard bed. Unlike wall beds, there is no upper frame and no bi-fold doors. When it's in the up position it looks like a regular desk.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a front view of the desk/bed showing the shelves and desktop drawers and doors.
FIG. 2 is a side view of the desk/bed showing the desktop shelves and base, a pillow support attached to the existing wall, and a full-size mattress.
FIG. 3 shows the desk/bed in the down position and shows the base support that houses the spring mechanism.
FIG. 4 is the upper section of the desk/bed showing the outside frame and pivoting shelves.
FIG. 5 is the base unit showing the desktop, drawers and mechanism
FIG. 6 is the base support system screwed to the existing wall, with two side extensions that support the spring mechanism

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

In FIG. 1, the upper section is enclosed by a wood frame (10) which is also shown in FIG. 2.
In FIG. 1 there is a horizontal board that is called the leg (12) which is also shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
The base in FIG. 1 is enclosed by a wood frame (11).
In FIG. 2, there are two shelves (13) that pivot on two screws (14).
The back panel in FIG. 1 (15) supports the mattress as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
Also in FIGS. 1 and 2 there is a desktop (16).
In the base unit shown in FIG. 1 there are two drawers (17) which are also shown in FIG. 5.
In FIG. 1 there are two base pieces that support the spring mechanism (18) which are also shown in FIG. 3.
FIG. 2 shows a pillow support (19) controlled by a spring hinge (20) and a full-size mattress (21).

Claims

1- The desk bed comes in three sections as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 of the drawings and atop section shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 4 of the drawings. And a base support section shown in FIG. 6 of the drawings.

2- The upper section is attached on top of the bottom section and supported by the base support system section which forms one complete unit as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2.

3- The complete unit can be easily raised and lowered from FIG. 1. A complete desk and shelves draws to a full size bed as shown in FIG. 3. Because of the spring mechanism in FIG. 6.

4- The pillow support in FIG. 2 allows the pillow to be pushed back to the wall when the desk bed is in the up position and is controlled by the spring hinge.

5- The shelves in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 are secured to the upper section by a steel pin that allows the shelves to pivot and stay in a horizontal position and therefore keeps all objects from falling off the shelves when the desk bed is raised or lowered.
