Abstract
Description
- Continuation of application number: 62/297,180, Feb. 19, 2016
- It is the object of this invention to provide a pillow case cover assembly or cushion case cover assembly that allows the user to easily remove, and reuse or replace the pillow case cover or the cushion case cover.
- This gives the user the option to simply change out the pillow case cover or cushion case cover as they desire; leaving the pillow case with pillow intact, or the cushion case with cushion intact.
- Accordingly, the invention consists of a pillow case cover or cushion case cover manufactured with half of a fastening system attached on the cover so that the cover can be attached and removed to a correspondingly shaped constructed pillow case or cushion case manufactured with the complimentary half of the fastening system attached on the case to complete the resealable fastened assembly.
- Fastening means a complimentary fastening system that releasably secures the cover to the case. These can take the form of conventionally available fastening, such as hook and loop fastening of the kind sold under the trademark VELCRO. In another form a press-to-engage type seal of the kind used in plastic bags and known by the trademark MAGIC SEAL. In another form a magnetic seal that creates a magnetic bond. In another form fastened with a zipper.
- The cover is preferably secured to the case along their perimeter edges, but may also include additional fastening within the perimeter's surface area.
- Access means in the pillow case or cushion case to allow both insertion and removal of the pillow or cushion. These can take the form of conventionally available access, such as overlapping flaps. In another form with fastened with buttons. In another form fastened with snaps. In another form fastened with a zipper. In another form hook and loop fastening of the kind sold under the trademark VELCRO. In another form a press-to-engage type seal of the kind used in plastic bags and known by the trademark MAGIC SEAL. In another form a magnetic seal that creates a magnetic bond.
- It will be apparent that both the cover and the correspondingly shaped case can be manufactured from natural, man made, or a combination of both materials; and that these materials can include natural, man made, or a combination of both: designs, scents, fragrances, coatings, layers and components.
- Pillows and cushions are generally formed by encasing some form of filling in a sealed envelope. This filling can be manufactured from a wide variety of natural, man made, or a combination of both materials. In some cases a covering such as a pillow case or cushion case is used over the pillow or cushion. These pillow cases or cushion cases permit cleaning without needing to clean the encased pillow or cushion. The pillow case or cushion case may also be decorated.
- In other cases the pillow or cushion does not include a separate pillow case or cushion case so the entire pillow or cushion encasement is exposed. The pillow or cushion encasement may also be decorated.
- As the pillows, cushions, pillow cases or cushion cases are used they will eventually become soiled, damaged or may have their decoration no longer wanted by the user. The user must decide how many times that they want to clean, repair or replace these items.
- The level of inconvenience and expense incurred by the user can vary from home laundering, to specialty dry cleaning, to re-upholstery, to replacement and legal disposal of the old pillows, cushions, pillow cases and cushion cases
- One embodiment of the invention will now be described, with references to the accompanying drawings, in which:
-
FIG. 1 is a cross sectional view showing the cover assembled to the case with a pillow or cushion inside the case; -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the cover showing the half of the fastening system; -

FIG. 4 is an exploded view of the cover and case oriented for assembly; and -
FIG. 5 is a fully assembled view of the cover attached to the case with pillow or cushion inside the case. - In
FIG. 1 thecover 1 is fastened to thecase 2 which encases a pillow or cushion 3. Half offastening system 4 is attached to thecover 1. The complimentary half of the fastening system 5 is attached to thecase 2.Case 2 is manufactured so that the edges 6 are attached to encase the pillow or cushion 3. -
FIG. 2 shows the underside of thecover 1 with half of thefastening system 4 attached. -
FIG. 3 shows the top of thecase 2 with the complimentary half of the fastening system 5 attached.Case 2 is manufactured so that the edges 6 are attached to both encase the pillow or cushion (not shown), and also allow access 7 to the pillow or cushion (not shown), which can be inserted and removed repeatedly. -
FIG. 4 shows thecover 1 with half of thefastening system 4 attached oriented for assembly ontocase 2 with the complimentary half of the fastening system 5 attached,Case 2 is manufactured so that the edges 6 are attached to both encase the pillow or cushion (not shown), and also allow access 7 to the pillow or cushion (not shown), which can be inserted and removed repeatedly -
FIG. 5 shows cover 1 assembled tocase 2. The view also shows an access 7 incase 2 for the pillow or cushion (not shown), which can be inserted and removed repeatedly. - In use, the reusable and replaceable pillow case cover assembly or cushion case cover assembly looks like a pillow or cushion, and is used in the manner of a pillow or cushion.
- The foregoing describes only one preferred embodiment of the invention and modifications can be made thereto without departing from the scope of the invention.
