Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO OTHER APPLICATIONS
  • This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 62/092,343 filed on Dec. 16, 2014.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of Invention
  • The present invention relates to a cushion that is installable on a existing armrest to provide extra cushioning.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Many passenger seats in buses, airplanes and trains include armrests with passenger seating. Typically these armrests have some degree of cushioning but most of the time the cushioning is insufficient to provide a comfortable armrest for extended period of time. Typically the armrests are used numerous times by numerous passengers and therefore the armrest may be worn or even tattered. One other problem with these armrests is that the armrest may collect any kind of debris, bacteria or germs. As a consequence, it would be advantageous to have a portable arm cushion that may be easily placed over an existing armrest in a passenger vehicle such as a airplane, train or bus.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to an arm cushion attachment that includes: a first end, where the first end includes an opening, where the opening provides a means for inserting an armrest into the opening; a second end, where the second end is closable; and a zipper at the second end, where the zipper encloses a foam cushion within the arm cushion attachment. In another embodiment of the present invention the arm cushion attachment that includes: a first end; a second end, where the second end is closable; a zipper at the second end, where the zipper encloses a foam cushion within the arm cushion attachment; and an attachment wrap extending from each side of the cushion attachment.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 depicts a seat, which includes two embodiments of an arm cushion in accordance with the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 depicts a first arm cushion in accordance with the present invention.
  • FIG. 3 depicts a rear view of the first arm cushion and a rear view of a second arm in accordance with the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The present invention relates to an armrest cushion that is utilized to conveniently slide over an existing armrest in a bus, airplane or plane. The armrest cushion according to the present invention includes an opening that slides over an existing armrest and that includes additional cushioning that runs the length of the armrest. The arm cushioning also includes a wrap attachment to adjust and securely attach the arm cushion to the existing armrest.
  • FIG. 1 depicts a Chair 60 that includes Armrests 62. Further the Chair 60 includes a Backrest 64. Fitted on each Armrest 62 of the Chair 60 are two embodiments of the present invention. A first Armrest Cushion 30 is depicted on a first Armrest 62 of the Chair 60. The first Armrest Cushion 30 includes Straps 31 and 32 shown more clearly in FIG. 3. The Armrest Cushion 30 attaches around the Armrest 62 as shown in FIG. 1. Each Strap 31, 32 include hook and loop connectors to secure the Armrest Cushion 30 around the Armrest 62. The Armrest 30 includes a foam pad within the interior of the Armrest 30 and a Zipper 34 as shown in FIG. 2 allows for the removal and insertion of the foam padding.
  • A second Armrest Cushion 40 is depicted on the second Armrest 62 of the Chair 60. The Armrest Cushion 40 slides onto the armrest through an Opening 42 shown in FIG. 3. This particular embodiment of the present invention does not need the straps to secure the Armrest Cushion 40 onto the Armrest 62. The Opening 42 provides a snug fit onto the armrest and secures the Armrest Cushion 40 onto the Armrest 62. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
