Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Fields of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a cordless curtain, and more particularly, to a cordless curtain operated by equal-shaped magnets attached to the fabric.
  • 2. Descriptions of Related Art
  • One of the conventional cordless curtain is disclosed in applicant's former U.S. Pat. No. 7,150,304 which discloses multiple magnets connected to the fabric so that when the curtain is folded, the user folds the bottom end of the fabric upward to attract the magnets consecutively. When expanding the fabric, the user pulls the bottom end of the fabric to detach the magnets one by one. No cord needed.
  • However, the magnets have to be connected to the fabric one by one by either melting art or sewing art. This takes a lot of time and the magnets may shift by impact.
  • An operation rod can be used to fold the fabric, the operation rod is an individual part and can easily get lost.
  • U.S. Pub. No. 2012/0234502 A1 discloses a rod or a tube to be transversely connected to the fabric, and the magnets are connected to the rod or received in the tube.
  • Nevertheless, the problems of the positioning of the rod and the tube, and the positioning of the magnets are not improved.
  • The present invention intends to provide a cordless curtain with a magnetic operation system to eliminate the shortcomings mentioned above.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 to 4, the cordless curtain 10 of the present invention comprises a fabric 11 having a top end 12 and a bottom end 13, wherein the top end 12 is connected to a top rail 40, and an operation unit 30 is connected to the lower portion of the fabric 11 and located close to the bottom end 13.
  • Multiple magnet units 20 are connected to the fabric 11, wherein each magnet unit 20 has a box 21, multiple magnets 24 and a decoration piece 25. The box 21 is a metal box with a bottom wall 221 and multiple sidewalls 23 extending from the multiple sides of the bottom wall 221 so as to form an open side between the bottom wall 221 and the multiple sidewalls 23. The magnets 24 are magnetically attracted to the bottom wall 221 via the open side of the box 21. The decoration piece 25 is connected to the fabric so as to form a passage 251 between the decoration piece 25 and the fabric 11. The box 21 is received in the passage 251. The decoration piece 25 is an elongate piece of fabric which can be the same as the fabric 11 and the height or width of the decoration piece 25 is higher or wider than the box 21. The decoration piece 25 is fixed to the fabric 11 by any known methods such as sewing or melting. The magnets 24 are attracted to the bottom wall 221, and the sidewalls 23 prevent the magnets 24 from dropping the box 21. The magnets 24 are attracted to the bottom wall 221 with equal distances. The bottom wall 221 faces the decoration piece 25 as shown in FIG. 4.
  • An operation unit 30 is connected to the lower portion of the fabric 11 and has a head 31 and a rod 35, wherein the head 31 is fixed to the lowest box 21 of the fabric 11. As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the head 31 has a slot 32 defined in the underside thereof, and the rod 35 has a connection end 351 which is securely inserted into the slot 32 by a rivet for example.
  • The slot 32 of the head 31 is defined between a front part 33 and a rear part 331, the connection end 351 is a flat end which is located in the slot 32. The rear part 331 is attached to the outside of the decorative piece 25, and a bolt extends through the rear part 331 and the decorative piece 25, and is fixed to the bottom wall 221 of the box 21 to connect the head 31 to the fabric 11. It is noted that the bolt is connected to the bottom wall 221 and located between any two of the magnets 24. The rod 35 does not extend beyond the bottom end 13 of the fabric 11.
  • As shown in FIGS. 5, 8, 9 and 10, when folding the curtain 10, the user holds the rod 35 and folds the fabric 11 upward to allow the magnet units 20 to be attracted to each other one by one, so that the fabric 11 is folded section by section.
  • When expanding the folded fabric 11 of the curtain 10, the user holds and pulls down the rod 35, the pulling force is larger than the magnetic force between the magnet units 20 so as to detach the magnet unit 20, and the fabric 11 is expanded downward.
  • FIGS. 11 and 12, another way of use of the cordless curtains are disclosed, wherein the top rail 40 has multiple grooves 41 defined in the underside thereof, and each groove 41 is connected with a fabric 11. The multiple fabrics 11 are arranged side by side to be used to a door or a wide window. Each fabric 11 has a connection member 14 connected to the top end 12 thereof. The connection member 14 is connected with a seat 15 which is connected with a wheel 16 which is movable in the groove 41 corresponding thereto.
  • When operating the rod 35 of the right most curtain 10 in FIGS. 11 and 12 to pull the right most curtain 10 toward left, the right most curtain 10 is overlapped to the next curtain 101 by attracting the magnet units 20 of the right most curtain 10 to the magnet units 20 of the next curtain 101. Eventually, the four curtains 10 are overlapped and collected to the left side of the window or door. Each curtain 10 can be folded upward individually as well. The right most curtain 10 can be pulled toward left a desired distance as long as the magnet units 20 of the right most curtain 10 are attracted to the magnet units 20 of the next curtain 101.
  • While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
