Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a space saving device and, more particularly, to space saving device that hangs clothes.
  • Extra space in a home to store clothes and other possessions is almost always desired. Regardless of the amount of closets in the home, there generally still remains a need for extra space. Therefore, closets may become cluttered, overcrowded and messy, which makes it difficult to keep cloths neat and organized.
  • A possible solution to the problem may include constructing or expanding upon closets. However, adding extra closets or buying extra cabinets can be costly and may take away desired floor space in the home. Some closet organizers make use of existing closet rods or shelving and simply reorganize the space rather than adding additional usable space. Further, the organizers may be used only in a typical closet with a standard depth.
  • As can be seen, there is a need for a space saving device that hangs clothes.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In one aspect of the present invention, a clothes hanging device comprises: at least one garment arm comprising a first end and a second end, wherein the second end comprises an aperture; an attachment component configured to be secured to a surface, wherein the first end of the at least one garment arm is pivotally attached to the attachment component, wherein the at least one garment arm is substantially perpendicular to the surface when the attachment component is secured to the surface.
  • In another aspect of the present invention, a clothes hanging device comprises: a plurality of garment arms; and an attachment component configured to be secured to a surface, wherein the plurality of garment arms each comprise a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion is pivotally attached to the attachment component, and the first portion and the second portion meet at a first bend, wherein the first portion and the second portion are substantially perpendicular to one another.
  • These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is an exploded view of an embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 3 is perspective a view of an embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 4 is a top view of an embodiment of the present invention; and
  • FIG. 5 is an end view of an embodiment of the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
  • The present invention may include a bracket that allows clothes to be hung substantially parallel to the wall or the rear of a shallow cabinet. Thereby, the present invention does not consume desired floor space. Due to the compact nature of the bracket, the present invention may be mounted in smaller spaces, such as cabinets and armoires. Since the bracket does not utilize standard closet rod and shelving heights, the brackets may be mounted from the top or the cabinet/ceiling to a desired distance from the floor/bottom. Further, the clothes that are hung on the present invention may be in plain sight to a user. The hangers may conveniently swing towards the user so that the user may have easy access to the clothes. Since the present invention is not permanently affixed to a house, a renter may take the present invention with them upon moving.
  • Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a space saving device including at least one pivoting garment arm. The pivoting garment arm may include a first end and a second end. The first end may include a hinge connection and the second end may include an aperture for hanging clothes hangers. The present invention may further include an attachment device, pivotally connected to the hinge connection of the first end. The attachment device is securable to a surface.
  • Referring now to FIGS. 1 through 5, the present invention includes a clothes hanging device. The clothes hanging device may include at least one garment arm 1 having a first end 2 and a second end 3. The second end 3 may include an aperture so that a clothes hanger may be hung from it. The present invention may further include an attachment component 10 configured to be secured to a surface, such as a closet wall. The first end 2 of the at least one garment arm 1 is pivotally attached to the attachment component 10. The at least one garment arm 1 is substantially perpendicular to the surface when the attachment component 10 is secured to the surface.
  • In certain embodiments, the at least one garment arm 1 is a plurality of garment arms 1 each pivotally attached to the attachment component 10 at the first end 2. As illustrated in the Figures, the plurality of garment arms 1 may be three garment arms 1. The attachment component 10 of the present invention may include a hinge rod 7. Each of the plurality of garment arms 1 may be pivotally attached to the hinge rod 7 by a garment arm sleeve 11. The hinge rod 7 may slide through and fit within the garment arm sleeves 11 of the garment arms 1. In certain embodiments, the present invention may include a plurality of spacers 8 oriented in between the plurality of garment arms 1 along the hinge rod 7.
  • The attachment device 10 may further include a bottom end bracket 9 and a top end bracket 6. The bottom end bracket 9 and the top end bracket 6 may be below and above the garment arms 1 respectively, i.e. the garment arm sleeves 11 of the garment brackets 1 may be sandwiched in between the end brackets 6, 9. The hinge rod 7 may fit through the bottom bracket 9, top bracket 6, and the hinge connection 11. The hinge rod 7 may include threaded ends. A lock nut 5 may be screwed into the threaded ends of the hinge rod 7 to connect the device together. A washer 4 may be used and may be in between the lock nut 5 and the end brackets 6, 9. The end brackets 6, 9 may be mounted on a wall, such as wall of closet, cabinet or armoire.
  • In certain embodiments, the plurality of garment arms 1 may each include at least a first portion and a second portion. The first portion may be pivotally attached to the attachment component 10. The first portion and the second portion meet at a first bend and may be substantially perpendicular to one another. The plurality of garment arms 1 may further include a third portion which includes the aperture. The third portion and the second portion may meet at a second bend and may be substantially perpendicular to one another. The first portion and the third portion may be substantially parallel to one another. In certain embodiments, the first portions of the plurality of garment arms 1 may be a plurality of different lengths. Therefore, the garment arms 1 may be disposed at different depths of the closet, cabinet or armoire.
  • A method of using the present invention may include the following. The user may fasten the present invention to a wall or within a cabinet/armoire at any location desired. The user may then hang garments on hangers and then place the hanger hooks through the apertures located at the second end of the garment bracket. The bends at different locations near the first end of the garment bracket provide for hangers and garments to be seen regardless of which garment bracket the hangers are hung on.
  • It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
