Abstract
The Couch Coach is a new game for football fans that can be used indoors or outdoors. It allows fans to be more involved with the game on a more personal basis when viewing the game indoors or during the actual game being played on the field. It is easy to carry with you with the flags being stuffed into the holes in the center portion of the football.
Description
- There is no federally sponsored or research or development associated with this application. There is no joint research agreement associated with this application.
- (1) Field of the Invention
- The “Couch Coach” is a new game for sports fans especially for American football.
- (2) Description of the Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 & 1.98
- The art described in the drawings of the design and utility function illustrate the uniqueness of the invention and no similar inventions were found in our search.
- The “Couch Coach” is a new game which can be used in the home environment and on the field with a real football game.
- There are 3 drawings in total that describe and illustrate the design and function of the “Couch Coach”.

FIG. 3 : In this illustration it shows the three flags used with #3 the red flag used for a challenge with #4 the yellow flag used for a penalty with #5 the white flag used for forfeiture of the game. - For indoor use during televised football games the couch coach is used by each football team's fans to agree or disagree with referees on penalties during the football game. The flags are used as if they are on the field calling the penalties. Football is used to store the flags. If each team fan does not have a football then it is shared on each team possession on downs. The red flag is to challenge call on field by referees to reverse the penalty call or ask for a challenge of the call. The yellow flag is to call a penalty on the field that either team has committed. The white flag is for a team fan to throw in the towel/give up/forfeit the game.
- For outdoor use the football can be used at tailgate parties and pick up football games. The flags are given to a referee as the teams play each other with the football to use as if a real game. The flags have same meaning as above.

- (1) Soft Foam Football 10″ to 12″ long
- (2) Red polyester cloth 12″×12″ Challenge flag.
- (3) Yellow polyester cloth 12″×12″ Penalty flag.
- (4) White polyester cloth 12″×12″ Surrender/Forfeit flag.
- (5) Football T to stand/store ball after use.
- (6) Optional whistle to add more drama to plays.
- During Football games specifically, a fan can use the flags to agree or disagree with other fans at home or at the stadium. Each Ball could be either collegiate team colors or Professional team colors.
- The flags are weighted with ½ ounce of weight to give them the ability to toss. (Like corn hole bean bags)
- The Challenge Flag is for challenging the referees call on the field whether correct or not.
- The Penalty Flag is for all penalties called or not called by referees.
- The Surrender/Forfeit flag is for the player to give up!
Claims (2)
1. A sports game comprising of:
a lightweight solid body football with three holes molded into the center portion of the football shape;
a red flag stuffed into one of the three holes to be used for a challenge to a play called;
a yellow flag stuffed into one of the three holes to be used to call a penalty to a play;
a white flag stuffed into one of the three holes to be used to give up, throw in the towel, or forfeit the game;
a flag is slightly weighted to allow the flag to be tossed for some distance.
2. How the game is played is comprised of:
a red challenge flag is pulled from one of the holes in the football and thrown when a referee makes a call and the challenger disagrees with the call;
a yellow penalty flag is pulled from one of the holes in the football and thrown when the challenger feels the call should have been made by the referee;
a white flag is pulled from the one of the holes in the football when the challenger has given up on their team to win the game and is forfeiting the game.
