Abstract

A Polygonal Projectile Game with Landing Target Canvas includes a Polygonal Projectile and a Landing Target Canvas. The Polygonal Projectile, in various implementations of an embodiment is star-shaped with at least 4 vertices. The Landing Target Canvas is delineated into a plurality of sections, which denotes the number of points to be delineated for the player who successfully lands a projectile within those boundaries.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention is in the area of games and entertainment and more particularly pertains to a Polygonal Projectile Game with Landing Target Canvas for diversion and fun.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Games and sports are diversions, which often become the common fabric through which families, friends, and societies unite and interact. Therefore, it is little wonder that many outdoor or indoor games consisting of various projectiles (horseshoes, other tossing-games) which are not particularly physically straining, but are delightfully fun have become industries unto themselves.
  • Several different games, and permutations of those classics have been created to that end. However, for those who would like to experience a more dynamic game with ever-more variables to work out, it would seem to reason that using a projectile which flies to its destination in odd, and in some cases, unusual trajectories would make for a more appealing game.
  • SUMMARY
  • In general, in a first aspect, the Polygonal Projectile Game with Landing Target Canvas features a Polygonal Projectile, a Landing Target Canvas. The Polygonal Projectile, in various implementations of an embodiment is star-shaped with at least 4 vertices. The Landing Target Canvas is delineated into a plurality of sections, which denotes the number of points to be delineated for the player who successfully lands a projectile within those boundaries.
  • The features and advantages described in this summary and the following detailed description are not all-inclusive. Many additional features and advantages will be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art in view of the drawings, specification, and claims thereof.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING FIGURES

  • FIG. 6 is a perspective view of an embodiment.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • According to an embodiment, a unique game consisting of players skillfully targeting and landing star-shaped projectiles on a target canvas is disclosed. The present invention is described in enabling detail below. Various embodiments of the Polygonal Projectile Game with Landing Target Canvas 100 are provided below.
  • In operation, the game requires players to throw a star on a target canvas whereby the aerodynamic properties, which inhere into the shape of the projectile, will cause the projectile to impart a unique trajectory as the projectile nears the landing target. Players will typically throw the projectile as they would a Frisbee or a disc. During its flight path, the projectile will rise up into the air, roll to one side, and flip over before it reaches the landing target. Various permutations of how points are distributed, and the goals are explained below.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates that the Polygonal Projectile Game with Landing Target Canvas 100 includes a Polygonal Projectile 101, and a Landing Target Canvas 102. In various implementations of an embodiment, the polygonal projectile is star-shaped. Moreover, in one embodiment wherein the polygonal projectile is star-shaped, there are at least four vertices 120, 121, 122, and 123 as illustrated in FIG. 5. However, it should be appreciated that other embodiments may have varying numbers of vertices.
  • FIG. 5 further illustrates that the Polygonal Projectile 101 may incorporate a series of frictional grooves or projections 125, or a raised-resistance coating material for the purpose of enabling the projectile to stick to the Landing Target Canvas as it lands. This textured surface may be engendered either through simply applying various solvents, or through an uneven mold shaped to create the surface.
  • FIG. 4 illustrates the landing target canvas. In one embodiment, the landing target canvas is a substantially rectangular canvas, which can be made of a fabric or other fungible material. In one embodiment, the canvas may incorporate a series of loops 150, 151, 152, 153 disposed at each corner for the purpose of securing it to the ground. In one implementation of an embodiment, the landing target canvas can be accompanied by a carrying case or bag 550 as illustrated in FIG. 6.
  • Various target areas on the canvas are delineated with a first circle 108 and an inner circle 107 which are delineated through indicia. Indicia can take the form of printed matter, woven textures, paint, dye, cooperating loops and hooks materials, or other methods or materials expedient for such purpose.
  • In various implementations of an embodiment, the canvas may incorporate various hoops and loops material in order to grab hold of the projectile so that it will not easily bounce or skid off the landing target canvas. Accordingly, in various implementations of an embodiment, the projectile may further incorporate cooperating loops and hooks material.
  • In one embodiment, instructions are provided for one permutation of a game entitled “Star Toss”. In this permutation of a game, competitors throw the stars towards the landing target canvas from around 20 feet away, with the goal bing to land the projectile as close as possible to the center of the landing target canvas' inner circle wherein 25 points are awarded. Players successfully landing the projectile between the boundaries of the outer circle and the inner circle are awarded 5 points. And players that land the projectile outside of the boundaries of the circles, but within the boundaries of the landing target canvas are awarded 1 point. The first competitor to acquire 100 points wins the game, and each competitor may carry an unlimited quantity of stars during the game.
  • In another permutation of the game entitled “Bocce Stars”, teams are formed with the same general intention. However, teams operate in a “scramble” format style of play wherein each team is allotted 4 stars in each frame or round. In this style of play, the maximum number of points awarded is 4, and the game comes to a conclusion when one team scores 13 points.
  • It will be apparent to the skilled artisan that there are numerous changes that may be made in embodiments described herein without departing from the spirit and scope of those embodiments. As such, the embodiments taught herein by specific examples are limited only by the scope of the claims that follow.
