Definitions

  • Standard towels fall to the floor during activities, for example when using exercise equipment, and are hard to carry along with personal items such as mobile devices, wallets or keys. And it goes without saying that a misplaced or out-of-reach towel cannot protect you from the weather conditions or absorb perspiration. Moreover, losing or forgetting the towel at the gym or outside doing physical activities can be an annoyance with a price tag. In public places, such as the gym, it more hygienic to capture the perspiration before it pools on exercise benches or floor mats, which requires the user to constantly handle a convention towel during their exercise activities.

Abstract

A wearable towel is provided. The wearable towel may be made from an absorbent fabric forming an upper torso garment having a neck-receiving opening and also having a front side. The front side provides a reverse side providing at least one pocket. The periphery of the neck-receiving opening may provide a hoodie extension. The front side may provide a separable fastener that when engaged secures the wearable towel about the chest of a human wearer, and when disengaged bisects the front side and so allows the wearable towel to unfold into a generally flat body towel.

Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application number 61/895298, filed 24 Oct. 2014, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to wearable towels and, more particularly, to a novel wearable towel providing protection from the elements, storage for personal devices, absorption of perspiration and a means of never losing or forgetting a gym towel.
  • As can be seen, there is a need for a towel a user may securely wear about their head and/or neck, wherein the wearable towel provides storage for personal devices during physical activities.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In one aspect of the present invention, a wearable sport towel system comprises: an upper torso garment having a neck-receiving opening and also having a front side, wherein the front side provides a reverse side, and wherein the upper torso garment is comprised of absorbent material; and at least one pocket disposed on said reverse side.
  • In another aspect of the present invention, a wearable sport towel system comprises: an upper torso garment having a neck-receiving opening and also having a front side, wherein the front side provides a reverse side, and wherein the upper torso garment is comprised of absorbent material; at least one pocket disposed on said reverse side; a closure opening extending downwardly from the neck-receiving opening so as to approximately bisect the front side relative to a left and a right side of a human wearer; a separable fastener disposed along the closure opening; and a hoodie extension attached along a portion of a periphery of the neck-receiving opening.
  • It is another object of the present invention to provide a new wearable towel which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.
  • It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new wearable towel which is of a durable and reliable construction.
  • Still yet another object of the present invention is to provide a new wearable towel which provides in the apparatuses and methods of the prior art some of the advantages thereof, while simultaneously overcoming some of the disadvantages normally associated therewith.
  • These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, shown in use;

  • FIG. 11 is a rear view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention; and
  • FIG. 12 is a rear view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
  • Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a wearable towel made from an absorbent fabric forming an upper torso garment having a neck-receiving opening and also having a front side.
  • With reference now to the drawings, a novel wearable towel embodying the principles and concepts of the present invention and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described. The wearable towel is made from an absorbent fabric and generally comprises an upper torso garment 14 forming a neck-receiving opening 32 and having a front side 30. The front side 30 provides a reverse side 34 adapted to cover the upper torso of a human wearer 20. The reverse side may provide at least one pocket 16. The at least one pocket 16 may be adapted to retain personal items, such as a cell phone, keys and the like. The at least pocket 16 may include a medical pocket 17 adapted to retain a mobile medical device 22, such as a heart monitor or the like. The medical pocket 17 may be disposed near a portion of the human wearer 20 that coincides with their heart, for example, near the upper left portion of the chest of the human wearer 20. The medical pocket 17 may be positioned to provide the most accurate readings of the heart or other bodily function of the human wearer 20 being monitored by the medical device 22 retained within the medical pocket 17. As a result, during physical activity the wearable towel 10 may provide a means of effectively monitoring of the human wearer's 20 heart or other medical conditions.
  • In certain embodiments, the front side 30 may provided a closure opening 38 extending downwardly from the neck-receiving opening 32 so as to approximately bisect the front side 30 relative to the left and right side of the human wearer 20, as illustrated in FIG. 7. The closure opening 38 may provide a separable fastener 18 such as a zipper, or any fastener known in the art for removably securing one object to another including, for example, standard push-button snaps, Velcro-type fasteners, adhesive substances, combinations thereof, and the like. When the separable fastener 18 is disengaged, as illustrated in FIG. 6, the wearable towel 10 may be unfolded into a generally flat body of absorbent fabric for absorbing moisture just like a conventional towel. When the separable fastener 18 is engaged, as illustrated in the remaining FIG. 7, the wearable towel 10 may be secured about the chest of the human wearer 20 so that their head and neck perspiration would fall thereon or otherwise be substantially absorbed therein, preventing the unhygienic pooling of perspiration on the surrounding public space.
  • In certain embodiments, the wearable towel may provide a hoodie extension 12 conventionally or removably attached along a portion of the neck-receiving opening 32 or a periphery thereof. The hoodie extension 12 may be adapted to receive the head of the human wearer 20 and so absorb perspiration produces from their head and neck region. The hoodie extension 12 may also be adapted to keep the sun out of the user's eyes and off their head and neck.
  • The method of using the present invention may include the following. The wearable towel 10 disclosed above may be provided. A user may wear the towel just like a poncho or dickey, and engage the separable fastener 18 to secure the wearable towel 10 during physical activity and travelling to and from. Once the user is finished, they may disengage the separable fastener 18 and use the wearable towel to absorb moisture and thereafter store.
  • It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
