Description
- This application claims priority to provisional patent application U.S. Ser. No. 61/877,674 filed on Sep. 13, 2013, the entire contents of which is herein incorporated by reference.
- The embodiments herein relate generally to automotive accessories.
- Prior to embodiments of the disclosed invention, vehicles in floods were damaged by flood waters. Embodiments of the disclosed invention solve this problem.
- A protective cover for a vehicle configured to limit damage to the vehicle in a flood. The protective cover includes a covering, arranged with an outer perimeter and having an opening. A front side sewn edge and a rear side sewn edge mechanically coupled to the waterproof canvas. A zipper mechanically coupled to the outer perimeter. The vehicle can fit within the covering between the front side sewn edge and the rear side sewn edge and then be covered with the covering upon sealing the zipper creating an airtight compartment in order to limit damage to the vehicle in a flood.
- In some embodiments, a front strap is immediately adjacent to the covering and mechanically coupled to front strap D-rings. One end of the front strap can be inserted through the front strap d-ring to hold the front strap immediately adjacent to the covering and tightly around the vehicle. A rear strap immediately adjacent to the covering and mechanically coupled to rear strap D-rings. One end of the rear strap can be inserted through the rear strap d-ring to hold the rear strap immediately adjacent to the covering and tightly around the vehicle.
- In some embodiments, the covering is a waterproof canvas. In other embodiments, the covering is a waterproof fabric.
- The detailed description of some embodiments of the invention is made below with reference to the accompanying figures, wherein like numerals represent corresponding parts of the figures.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention. -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention shown in use pre-enclosure configuration. -
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention shown in use mid-enclosure configuration. -
FIG. 4 is a detail perspective view of an embodiment of the zipper. -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention shown in use post-enclosure configuration. -
FIG. 6 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention shown in use post-enclosure configuration and secured via the straps. -
FIG. 7 is a detail perspective view of an embodiment of the invention demonstrating usage of the D-ring. - By way of example, and referring to
FIG. 1 , one embodiment of the present system comprises covering 10 arranged with opening 18 having an outer perimeter. The outer perimeter is mechanically coupled tozipper 12. The water proof canvas is mechanically coupled to a frontside sewn edge 14 and a rearside sewn edge 14. The frontside sewn edge 14 and the rearside sewn edge 14 are immediately adjacent tobottom edge 16. In some embodiments covering 10 can be a waterproof canvas or a waterproof fabric in order to create a waterproof chamber that is also an airtight chamber. - Turning to
FIG. 2 andFIG. 3 , to use the protective cover, the user places the waterproof canvas on top offront strap 24 andrear strap 24. The user then drivescar 22 ontofront strap 24 andrear strap 24. - As shown in
FIG. 4 andFIG. 5 , the user then mechanically coupleszipper 12 together by pulling zipper handle 20 from, in this instance, the rear ofcar 22 to the front ofcar 22. This causeswater proof canvas 10 to completely covercar 22 creating an air tight environment that will prevent flood damage. - Turning to
FIG. 6 andFIG. 7 .Front strap 24 is mechanically coupled to front strap D-rings 26. Likewise, rear strap 24 is mechanically coupled to rear strap D-rings 26. A user can insert one end offront strap 24 through front strap d-ring 26 to holdfront strap 24 tightly aroundcar 22. Likewise, a user can insert one end ofrear strap 24 through rear strap d-ring 26 to holdrear strap 24 tightly aroundcar 22. - In some embodiments, covering 10 can be used to protect vehicles from sun, wind and hail. Covering 10 can also protect furniture and other machinery from damage.
- Persons of ordinary skill in the art may appreciate that numerous design configurations may be possible to enjoy the functional benefits of the inventive systems. Thus, given the wide variety of configurations and arrangements of embodiments of the present invention the scope of the invention is reflected by the breadth of the claims below rather than narrowed by the embodiments described above.
