Abstract

A toilet brush having a handle grip connected to a pull rod which is adapted to travel freely through a hollow main handle. The pull rod is connected at the other end to a cleaning head assembly, having stiff bristles and an absorbent sponge. The sponge is modified to include a scouring surface. The cleaning head assembly is modified to allow any moisture collected by the absorbent sponge to be extracted by pulling on the hollow main handle and the coil spring placing the hollow main handle back to its original position.

Description

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates to toilet brushes. More particularly, to a new and self cleaning apparatus for reducing the effort and time for cleaning toilets bowls and providing improved results.
2. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The use of a brush to clean toilet bowls is known in the art. More specifically, toilet brushes heretofore devised and utilized are known to consist basically of familiar, expected, and obvious structural designs which have been developed for various objectives and requirements.
Known prior art include: U.S. Pat. Nos. 6,460,215 B1, 4,781,139; U.S. Pat. No. 5,878,45, U.S. Pat. No. 3,599,263, U.S. Pat. No. 5,033,155, U.S. Pat. No. 4,967,441, U.S. Pat. No. 5,984,555, and U.S. Pat. No. Des. 360,986.
Various patents have attempted to address these desires as shown above; while these devices fulfill their objectives and requirements, the aforementioned patents do not disclose a new toilet cleaning device. The present inventive device includes a hand grip, a main handle, and a cleaning head. It is improved with a hand grip, and absorbent sponge with a scouring surface. Allowing for a scrubbing action to occur but giving it the ability to extract and remove excess water from around the toilet bowl and the toilet brush holder.
In view of the above, there is a need for the improved toilet brush of the aforementioned prior art reveals a device as contemplated with the present inventive concept shown in the present application.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention meets the requirements as stated above. In a preferred configuration, a toilet brush comprising a hollow main handle is attached to a hand grip at one end and a cleaning head assembly at the other end, said cleaning head assembly having an opening running through its center, allowing a pull rod to connect the hand grip to the cleaning head assembly. The cleaning head assembly comprising a cleaning head base having at one end having a flat base plate. The cleaning head base has a plurality of apertures along its periphery, which allows stiff bristles to be inserted into the apertures. A coil spring is attached to the cleaning head base plate allowing an absorbent sponge to snuggly fit over the cleaning head base plate and the coil spring. The pull rod connects to the cleaning head base assembly by fixedly attaching to a top plate. A scouring surface is attached completing the cleaning head assembly.
Additional objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will be set forth in part in the description which follows, and in part will become apparent to those skilled in the art upon examination of the following or may be learned by practice of the invention. The objects and advantages of the invention may be realized and attained by means of the instrumentalities and combinations particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
To achieve the foregoing and other objects and in accordance with the purpose of the present invention, as embodied and broadly described herein, the invention comprises: a handle grip connected to a pull rod which travels through a hollow main handle connecting a spring action head having a plurality of stiff bristles around its periphery, a sponge with a scouring surface attached to the spring action head.
Other features and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following description in which the preferred embodiments have been set forth and in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIG. 1 the toilet bowl brush (10) is shown having an elongated handle (12) attached to a hand grip (14) at one end. A cleaning head assembly (16) is attached to the elongated handle (12) at the other end.
Now referring to FIG. 2, a pull rod (34) connects the hand grip (14) to the cleaning head assembly (16). This is accomplished by the pull rod (34) having the ability to pass through the elongated handle (12) and the cleaning head assembly (16) until the pull rod (34) fixedly attaches to the top plate (50) of the cleaning head assembly (16). The pull rod (34) having the ability to pass through the elongated handle (12) by a series of hollow passages (42). The pull rod (34) having screw threads (36) allowing it to be screwed into the handle grip (14) and the top Plate (50).
Referring to FIG. 3, the cleaning head assembly (16) is shown in more detail. It consists of the cleaning head base (20) at one end of the cleaning head base (20) it is adapted to receive a male thread member (44) of the elongated handle (12). At the other end is a circle flat surface (48). The periphery of the cleaning base (20) has a plurality of apertures (22) having stiff bristles (24) inserted. The center of the cleaning head base (20) is hollow so that the pull rod (34) may pass through the adsorbent sponge (26) and connect to the top plate (50). The top plate (50) is adapted to receive a threaded end of the pull rod (34). A coil spring (38) sits securely on the circular base plate (48) coiled around the pull rod (34) so that when the adsorbent sponge (26), the top plate (50) and the addition of the scouring surface (28) are in their proper positions the coil spring (38) is not compressed.
In a another embodiment the toilet bowl brush (10) comprises an elongated handle (12) having a hollow center allowing for a pull rod (34) to pass through and attaching the handle grip (14) to the cleaning head assembly (16). The elongated handle (12) having a rubber grip (18) at one end and an extraction phalange (11) at the other end. In operation the brush allows a scouring action to occur using the scouring surface (28) to clean the bowl. The adsorbent sponge (26) absorbs all excess moisture while cleaning the bowl. Finally, the stiff bristles (24) allows the user to clean under the rim of the bowl, upon completion the user can pull on the elongated handle (12) and the extraction phalange removes all of the excess moisture from the adsorbent sponge (26).
In the preferred embodiment of FIG. 5, the toilet brush (50) comprises a cleaning head assembly (52), a scouring attachment (55), and a handle grip (57). More particularly referring to FIG. 6, the invention has a cleaning head assembly (52) comprising a receiving platform at one end (54) and a sponge member (53) fixedly attached to the receiving platform (54). A cylindrical member (56) extending from the receiving platform (54) at one end and having a spring slip member (58) at the other end. The scouring attachment (55) comprising a hollow cylindrical member (59) adapted to receive the spring clip member (58) of the cleaning head assembly (52) and allowing the spring clip member (58) to connect with the handle grip (57). The scouring attachment (55) having at one end an extraction phalange (60). Stiff bristles (61) attached around the underside periphery (63) of the extraction phalange (60) and extending out from holes (62). The scouring attachment (55) further comprising an opening (65) in the hollow cylindrical member (59) allowing the user access to disengage the spring clip (58) of the cleaning head assembly (52). The handle grip (57) having a corresponding opening (66) adapted to receive the spring clip (58) of the cleaning head assembly (52). The scouring attachment (55) is positioned so that it has the ability to slide along the axis of the cleaning head assembly (52) and the handle grip (57). In addition, the scouring attachment (55) allowing the user to align openings (65) and (66) so that the spring clip (58) can be disengaged allowing easy removal and replacement of the cleaning head assembly (52).
The foregoing description of the preferred embodiment of the invention has been presented for purposes of illustration and description. It is not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise form disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching.

Claims

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. A toilet bowl brush comprising:

An elongated handle, having an upper and lower end; said handle being formed to allow a pull rod to slide through its center;

said pull rod adapted to receive a hand grip on one end and a top plate on the other end;

said top plate being positioned between an absorbent sponge and a scouring pad;

a cleaning head base is attached at one end to the lower end of said elongated handle and having a top phalange at the other end;

a coil spring is located around the pull rod seated between the top plate; and the top phalange.

2. The invention as claimed in claim 1, wherein said hollow main handle has an extraction phalange attached to its lower end.

3. An improved toilet bowl brush comprising:

a handle grip;

a cleaning head assembly attached to said handle grip; and

a scouring attachment positioned along the x-axis of said handle grip and said cleaning head assembly.

4. The invention as claimed in claim 3, wherein said cleaning assembly further comprises an absorbent sponge at one end and a spring clip on the other end.

5. The invention as claimed in claim 4, wherein said cleaning head assembly having a platform allowing for the attachment of said absorbent sponge and said platform attached to a cylindrical member.

6. The invention as claimed in claim 5, wherein said scouring attachment comprises a hollow cylindrical body, an extraction phalange having an upper base area and an underside area, and stiff bristles are attached to the periphery of the underside area.

7. The invention as claimed in claim 6, wherein said handle grip has an opening allowing said spring clip of the cleaning head assembly to be inserted and securely connected.

8. The invention as claimed in claim 7, wherein said scouring attachment further comprises an opening allowing it to be aligned with said opening of the handle grip whereby the spring clip of said cleaning assembly can be disengaged.

9. A toilet utility tool comprising:

a handle grip; an extraction tool attached to said handle grip; and

said extraction tool is positioned along the x-axis of said handle grip.

10. The invention as claimed in claim 9, wherein said handle grip has an opening at one end.

11. The invention as claimed in claim 10, wherein said extraction tool has a cylindrical body with a spring clip at one end and extraction means on the other end.

12. The invention as claimed in claim 11, wherein said handle grip has an opening allowing said spring clip of the extraction tool to be inserted and securely connected.

13. The invention as claimed in claim 12, wherein said extraction tool comprises an opening allowing it to be aligned with said opening of the handle grip whereby the spring clip of said cleaning head assembly can be disengaged.

14. The invention as claimed in claim 11, wherein said extraction means further comprises a flexible bowl shaped member whereby when pressure is exerted on the handle grip it causes a suction action to occur on the toilet bowl and dislodging any obstruction.
