Abstract

A Hat Clip or Retainer includes an Anterior planar surface, a Rounded-shaped surface having an axis perpendicular to a length of the Anterior planar surface, a Inner Planar Surface, a Abutting Union, and a Posterior Planar Surface. This Hat Clip or Retainer is used for the purpose of holding or retaining a hat around the waistband or belt of a person by pinching either the bill of a hat or an adjustment planar member.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention is in the area of clothing accessories and more particularly pertains to a Hat Clip or Retainer for holding or retaining a hat around the waistband or belt of a person by pinching either the bill of a hat or an adjustment planar member of a hat.
  • BACKGROUND
  • One of the most popular fashion accessories today is the hat. The hat, in various embodiments can add flair and panache to a person's wardrobe. However, in other cultures, the hat is not so much a fashion accessory as it is a compulsory staple of clothing. Harsh UV radiation can increase the risk of skin cancer, and an assortment of other health risks.
  • It is customary in some social settings to remove one's hat when entering a building, or pledging allegiance to the flag. In other cases, one may wish to remove his or her hat to simply allow their hair and head to cool off. However, it often becomes difficult to keep track of their hats, and in the process, many people may misplace their hats.
  • Therefore, it is apparent that there is a need in the marketplace to enable users to keep their hats on their person at all times to avoid its misplacement.
  • SUMMARY
  • In general, in a first aspect, the Hat Clip or Retainer features a Anterior planar surface, a Rounded-shaped surface having an axis perpendicular to a length of the Anterior planar surface, a Inner Planar Surface, a Abutting Union, a Posterior Planar Surface.
  • The features and advantages described in this summary and the following detailed description are not all-inclusive. Many additional features and advantages will be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art in view of the drawings, specification, and claims thereof.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING FIGURES

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • According to an embodiment, a unique Hat Clip or Retainer is provided for the purpose of holding or retaining a hat around the waistband or belt of a person by pinching either the bill of a hat or an adjustment planar member of a hat. The embodiments are described in enabling detail below.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates that the Hat Clip or Retainer 100 includes a Anterior planar surface 101, a Rounded-shaped surface having an axis perpendicular to a length of the Anterior planar surface 102, an Inner Planar Surface 103, an Abutting Union 104, a Posterior Planar Surface 105, a Hooked Distal End 106, and an Angled Planar Distal End 107. The Anterior planar surface is coterminous with the Rounded Shaped Surface as well as the Angled Planar Distal End 107.
  • The inner planar surface 103 is coterminous with both the abutting union and the rounded shaped surface. The inner planar surface provides frictional retaining force against the hat which opposes the complementary force imparted by the anterior planar surface.
  • The Rounded-shaped surface has an axis (Axis 1) perpendicular to a length of the Anterior planar surface 102. The rounded-shaped surface is used for the purpose of securing the adjustment member or a hat. The width of the rounded shaped surface is sized to approximate and to secure the adjustment member of the hat. As illustrated in FIG. 9, the Edge, which is one of the inner distal ends of the rounded shaped surface can act as a pincher which will help secure the hat into a strong position.
  • The Abutting Union 104 is the structure from which the Hat Clip or Retainer hangs. It should be noted here that the material from which the Hat Clip or Retainer is fabricated should be a relatively flexible material in order to facilitate the requisite bending, and elasticity, yet strong enough to resiliently revert to its natural shape. Also, the Abutting Union is coterminous with the posterior Planar Member.
  • The Posterior Planar Surface 105 is used for the purpose of securing the apparatus to the belt or waistband. In one embodiment, the Posterior Planar Surface 105 has a width approximating half the length of the apparatus as measured from the end of the rounded shaped surface to the end of the abutting union. Also, the Posterior Planar Surface is coterminous with the hooked distal end.
  • FIGS. 6-9 illustrate that in operation, a user has the choice of affixing the hat to their waistband by clipping the hat clip against the size-adjusting member as illustrated in FIG. 6. In this implementation, the hat is disposed lower than in the alternative fashion wherein the hat retainer is clipped against the bill of the hat. FIG. 9 illustrates how the Inner Edge 111 provides the requisite frictional force to retain the hat.
  • FIGS. 12-13 illustrate that when the apparatus is disposed in the “D or B” shaped position as illustrated in FIG. 12, the inner planar surface and anterior planar surface will accept the adjusting member of the hat as the combination of the posterior planar member and the inner planar member is affixed to the waistband or belt. FIG. 13 illustrates that in the “P or Q” position, the combination of the posterior planar surface accepts and retains the bill of the hat while the combination of the combination of the anterior planar surface and the inner planar member affix or retain against the belt or waistband.
  • FIGS. 10-11 illustrate that the diameter of the rounded shaped surface approximates half the length of the apparatus as measured from the end of the rounded shaped surface to the end of the abutting union. This proportion greatly enhances the usability of the apparatus and is optimized for accommodating a panoply of hats while minimizing unnecessary larger size form factors.
  • It will be apparent to the skilled artisan that there are numerous changes that may be made in embodiments described herein without departing from the spirit and scope of those embodiments. As such, the embodiments taught herein by specific examples are limited only by the scope of the claims that follow.
