FIG. 4 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a partially exploded front view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 6 is a top front side perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure in use. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new wire dispensing device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the wire reel holder anddispensing assembly 10 generally comprises anelongated shaft 12 configured for insertion through awire reel 14. Thewire reel 14 may in particular be holding barbed wire, however theassembly 10 is not limited to use with barbed wire. A pair of 16,18 each have a polygonalend members outer perimeter edge 20. During use the 16,18 mirror each other providingend members flat surfaces 22 to prevent unintended rolling of the 16,18. Eachend members 16,18 further has aend member central opening 24. Theshaft 12 is slidably insertable through the central opening 24 of each 16,18. Thus, theend member 16,18 are configured for positioning at eachend members 26,28 of theend wire reel 14. Each 16,18 is securable to theend member shaft 12 in a manner that the 16,18 is held in a static position along a length of theend member shaft 12. The 16,18 are configured for compressing or abutting against theend members wire reel 14 to secure thewire reel 14 in a static position relative to the 16,18 and theend members shaft 12. The 16,18 each have aend members planar surface 30. Theplanar surfaces 30 of each 16,18 face each other when theend member 16,18 are coupled to theend members shaft 12 on 26,28 of theopposite sides wire reel 14. - A
first locking assembly 34 is coupled to a first one of theend members 16. Thefirst locking assembly 34 may include acollar 36 slidably receiving theshaft 12 and alocking screw 38 coupled to thecollar 36 of thefirst locking assembly 34. Thelocking screw 38 of thefirst locking assembly 34 is transversely extendable through a threadedhole 40 in thecollar 36 to contact theshaft 12. In this manner, thefirst end member 16 is held in a static position relative to theshaft 12 by frictional contact with thelocking screw 38. Similarly, asecond locking assembly 42 is coupled to the second one of theend members 18. Thesecond locking assembly 42 also has acollar 44 slidably receiving theshaft 12 and alocking screw 46 coupled to thecollar 44 of thesecond locking assembly 42. Thelocking screw 46 of thesecond locking assembly 42 is transversely extendable through a threadedhole 48 in thecollar 44 to contact theshaft 12. Thesecond end member 18 is therefore also held in a static position relative to theshaft 12 by frictional engagement when thelocking screw 44 is tightened. - A
perimeter wall 50 of each 16,18, extends from theend member planar surface 30 forming theouter perimeter edge 20 of the 16,18. A plurality of reinforcingrespective end member members 52 is provided. Each reinforcingmember 52 is coupled to and extends between 54,56 of theopposed sides perimeter wall 50 of an associated one of the 16,18.end members - A
holding assembly 58 is provided to support theshaft 12 in a horizontal elevated position to permit rotation and distribution ofwire 60 from thewire reel 14. Theholding assembly 58 has a pair of spaced 64,66. The spacedarms 64,66 have alignedarms slots 68 receiving theshaft 12. The spaced 64,66 are configured for positioning thearms wire reel 14 and the 16,18 between the spacedend members 64,66 when thearms shaft 12 is received in theslots 68 in the spaced 64,66. Thearms holding assembly 58 also has ahitch connector 70 coupled to and extending away from the spaced 64,66. Aarms cross-member 76 of theholding assembly 58 extends between the 64,66 and thespaced arms hitch connector 70 extends transversely from thecross-member 76. Thehitch connector 70 is configured for direct attachment to avehicle hitch 72 whereby thewire reel 14 may be transported by avehicle 74. - Alternatively, particularly for vehicles with low hitch connection points, an
offset connector 78 may be coupled to and extend from thehitch connector 70. Theoffset connector 78 has adistal section 80 relative to thehitch connector 70. Thedistal section 80 is configured for coupling directly to thevehicle hitch 72. Thedistal section 80 is offset from thehitch connector 70 whereby the spaced 64,66 are positioned at an elevated height relative to thearms distal section 80. Alocking sleeve 82 is coupled to theoffset connector 78 and thehitch connector 52. Thehitch connector 52 is slidably inserted into thelocking sleeve 82. Apin 84 is insertable through thelocking sleeve 82 and thehitch connector 52 whereby thehitch connector 52 is securely coupled to theoffset connector 78. - The
shaft 12 may have a diameter between 2 centimeters and 2.5 centimeters. The 16,18 may each be square shaped having sides between 42 and 44 centimeters in length. Theend members hitch connector 70 may have a length between 24 and 26 centimeters long constructed out of square tubing having sides between 4 and 6 centimeters in length. Theoffset connector 78 may raise thehitch connector 70 between 34 and 37 centimeters. Theshaft 12 may be allowed to rotate within theslots 68 as wire form thewire reel 14 is dispensed but theflat surfaces 22 may each have a length which causes them to strikecross-member 76 to prevent rotation of the 16 and 18 to assist in braking action.end members - In use, the
shaft 12 is inserted through oneend member 16, through thewire reel 14, and then through thesecond end member 18. The first and 34 and 42 are manipulated to secure thesecond locking assemblies 16, 18 to hold theend members wire reel 14 in place. Thewire reel 14 may then be held easily by grasping theshaft 12. If needed thewire reel 14 may be placed on the ground and theflat surfaces 22 prevent thewire reel 14 from rolling. The flat surfaces 22 also prevent unintended rolling if thewire reel 14 is accidentally dropped. When desired, theshaft 12 may be placed into theslots 68 of the holdingassembly 58. The holdingassembly 58, with or without the offsetconnector 78, may be connected to avehicle hitch 72. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure.
