Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to jeans, and more particularly relates to designer jeans with detachable pockets.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Jeans are well-known in the art, being used for designer and utilitarian purposes. Typically, in most variations, jeans comprise denim fabric with tubular legs and one or pockets for storing personal effects.
  • Designer jeans proliferate in the industry. Often designer jeans are embroidered with color and/or ornamental designs for ascetic effect, and may be color-coded with other outerwear at the leisure of a user.
  • Although jeans differ in size and dimensions to accommodate the differing body sizes their wearers, there exists no means in the industry of customizing a pair of jeans (e.g. of changing it color or configuration). The color, size and pocket configuration of jeans are static and immutable without resewing or otherwise permanently modified the fabric.
  • Wearers of designer jeans come to identify with a brand of jeans, or a particular pair of jeans, and often wish to customize the way, appearance or manner in which the wearer displays the jeans to others. Poorer cross-segments of the population choose to wear jeans with the waistband around a wearer's upper-thighs to associate themselves with gangs or drug-dealers. Fashionable women may prefer skin tight jeans that contour their hips and legs, etc. Though these users would prefer to be able to personalize the configuration of the jeans themselves, including the number of position of pockets, no means exist in the art of doing so.
  • Because jeans also often bear markings associating a user with a particular organization, such as a logo of a professional football team or university, there exists a need in the industry to provide wears with the ability to quickly modify jeans to reassociate the wearer with a different organization, style, or to match outer vestings of the user. Current methods and apparati do not readily meet these needs. It is therefore desirable that jeans be provided which meet these needs.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • From the foregoing discussion, it should be apparent that a need exists for jeans with a detachable pockets and ornamental effects. Beneficially, such an apparatus would overcome many of the difficulties with prior art by providing a means for changing the color and pocket configuration of the jeans at will.
  • The present invention has been developed in response to the present state of the art, and in particular, in response to the problems and needs in the art that have not yet been fully solved by currently available apparati and methods. Accordingly, the present invention has been developed to provide jeans formed of denim comprising: two tubular leg members, each leg member defining a passageway for receiving a human leg, the leg members having open distal end, the leg members extending downward from a cylindrical body member; a cylindrical body member for receiving a lower portion of a human torso, the body member having an open upper end; a plurality of first zipper sides affixed to the jeans, each zipper side disposed in u-shaped fashion on an exterior surface of the jeans, the zipper sides for receiving a corresponding zipper side on a detachable pocket; a plurality of detachable pockets, the detachable pockets having a left lateral edge, a right lateral edge, and a lower edge, each detachable pocket comprising: a second zipper side circumscribing the left lateral edge, the right lateral edge, the lower edge; a zipper slide; wherein each detachable pocket is affixable to the jeans vis-à-vis the second zipper side engaging a first zipper side on the jeans.
  • The jeans may further comprise a plurality of identically dimensioned pockets permanently affixed to the jeans. The jeans may further comprise one or more detachable pockets affixable to one or more of the leg members with snaps. In some embodiments, the jeans further comprise one or more detachable pockets affixable to one or more of the leg members with one of Velcro, buckles and magnets.
  • Each of the plurality of detachable pockets may bear an ornamental design which differs from each ornamental design on each other of the plurality of detachable pockets.
  • A second independent embodiment of jeans formed of denim is disclosed comprising: two tubular leg members, each leg member defining a passageway for receiving a human leg, the leg members having open distal end, the leg members extending downward from a cylindrical body member; a cylindrical body member for receiving a lower portion of a human torso, the body member having an open upper end; a plurality of female Velcro patches affixed to the one of the leg members, each Velcro patch for engaging a corresponding male Velcro patch affixed to an inner flap of a detachable pocket; a plurality of detachable pockets, the detachable pockets having an inner flap, an outer flap, left lateral edge, a right lateral edge, and a lower edge, each detachable pocket comprising: a male Velcro patch affixed to an exterior surface of the inner flap; wherein each of the plurality of detachable pockets is affixable to the jeans with the male Velcro patch.
  • Each of the plurality of detachable pockets may vary in shape from each other detachable pocket. Each detachable pocket may be shaped as one of triangular, square, rectangular, circular or polynomial. Each of the plurality of detachable pockets may bears an ornamental design which differs from each ornamental design on each other of the plurality of detachable pockets.
  • A third independent embodiment of jeans formed of denim comprising: two tubular leg members, each leg member defining a passageway for receiving a human leg, the leg members having open distal end, the leg members extending downward from a cylindrical body member; a cylindrical body member for receiving a lower portion of a human torso, the body member having an open upper end; a plurality of male snap members affixed to the one of the leg members, each male snap member for engaging a corresponding female snap member to a detachable pocket; a plurality of detachable pockets, the detachable pockets having an inner flap, an outer flap, left lateral edge, a right lateral edge, and a lower edge, each detachable pocket comprising: a female snap member affixed to the detachable pocket for receiving a male snap member affixed to a tubular leg; wherein each of the plurality of detachable pockets is affixable to the jeans with the snap members.
  • Each of the plurality of detachable pockets may vary in shape from each other detachable pocket. Each detachable pocket may be shaped as one of triangular, square, rectangular, circular or polynomial. Each of the plurality of detachable pockets may bear an ornamental design which differs from each ornamental design on each other of the plurality of detachable pockets.
  • These features and advantages of the present invention will become more fully apparent from the following description and appended claims, or may be learned by the practice of the invention as set forth hereinafter.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • In order that the advantages of the invention will be readily understood, a more particular description of the invention briefly described above will be rendered by reference to specific embodiments that are illustrated in the appended drawings. Understanding that these drawings depict only typical embodiments of the invention and are not therefore to be considered to be limiting of its scope, the invention will be described and explained with additional specificity and detail through the use of the accompanying drawings, in which:
