Abstract

A pocketbook and accessory device is disclosed that can be used to organize purses, pocketbooks, jewelry, and other accessories for quick and convenient access when getting dressed. The pocketbook and accessory device comprises a base unit with wheels and a substantially vertical pole which extends upward from and is secured to the top surface of the base. The vertical pole comprises a plurality of openings and a plurality of hooks for hanging the purses, pocketbooks, jewelry, or other accessories. The plurality of openings are disposed on an exterior surface of the vertical pole, and are sized to accept a hook. However, the plurality of openings are sized to accept any of the plurality of hooks, such that a user can interchange the hooks and/or only insert hooks into a predetermined number of selected openings to vary the arrangement of the hooks, depending on the wants and needs of the user.

BACKGROUND

It can be a hassle for individuals to dig through boxes in their closet and under their bed, searching for pocketbooks and accessories. Users may not remember where exactly the accessories are located, and may end up searching through piles and boxes of accessories before finding the right one. Such a collection of pocketbooks and accessories is not only time consuming, but also requires excessive storage space. A versatile solution is needed.
The present invention provides users with quick and convenient access to their purses, pocketbooks, and other accessories. Also, the pocketbook device eliminates the hassle associated with searching through boxes in a closet or digging under a bed to find certain accessories, purses, pocketbooks, etc. Additionally, the device saves users time in the morning when getting dressed and completing their outfit. Moreover, the device frees up storage space for other items and can be easily transported from one room to another room or from closet to closet via a set of wheels, making the pocketbook device ideal for anyone who needs to organize their purses, pocketbooks, ties, accessories, etc.

SUMMARY

The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one aspect thereof, comprises a pocketbook and accessory device that can be used to organize purses, pocketbooks, jewelry, and other accessories and clothes for quick and convenient access when getting dressed. The pocketbook and accessory device comprises a base unit and a substantially vertical pole secured together. The vertical pole comprises a plurality of openings and a plurality of hooks for hanging the purses, pocketbooks, jewelry, or other accessories.
The vertical pole extends upward from and is secured to the top surface of the base unit. The plurality of openings are disposed on an exterior surface of the substantially vertical pole, and are sized to accept a hook. The plurality of hooks are sized for insertion into the plurality of openings. However, the plurality of openings are sized to accept any of the plurality of hooks, such that a user can interchange the hooks and/or only insert hooks into a predetermined number of selected openings to vary the arrangement of the hooks, depending on the wants and needs of the user.
In a preferred embodiment, the plurality of hooks can further comprise a rubber coating or other similar coating that protects purses, pocketbooks, or other accessories and prevents them from creasing if hung for an extended period of time. Further, the pocketbook and accessory device can comprise a plurality of wheels secured to the bottom surface of the base unit which allows the pocketbook and accessory device to be easily transported.
To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, certain illustrative aspects of the disclosed innovation are described herein in connection with the following description and the annexed drawings. These aspects are indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles disclosed herein can be employed and is intended to include all such aspects and their equivalents. Other advantages and novel features will become apparent from the following detailed description when considered in conjunction with the drawings.

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form in order to facilitate a description thereof.
The present invention provides users with quick and convenient access to their purses, pocketbooks, and other accessories. Also, the pocketbook device eliminates the hassle associated with searching through boxes in a closet or digging under a bed to find certain accessories, purses, pocketbooks, etc. Additionally, the device saves users time in the morning when getting dressed and completing their outfit. Moreover, the device frees up storage space for other items and can be easily transported from one room to another room or from closet to closet via a set of wheels, making the pocketbook device ideal for anyone who needs to organize their purses, pocketbooks, ties, accessories, etc.
The disclosed pocketbook and accessory device comprises a base unit and a substantially vertical pole which extends upward from and is secured to the top surface of the base. The vertical pole comprises a plurality of openings and a plurality of hooks for hanging the purses, pocketbooks, jewelry, or other accessories. The plurality of openings are disposed on an exterior surface of the substantially vertical pole, and are sized to accept a hook. However, the plurality of openings are sized to accept any of the plurality of hooks, such that a user can interchange the hooks and/or only insert hooks into a predetermined number of selected openings to vary the arrangement of the hooks, depending on the wants and needs of the user. The device further comprises a plurality of wheels which allows the pocketbook and accessory device to be transported from room to room.
Referring initially to the drawings, FIGS. 1-2 illustrate the pocketbook and accessory device 100 that can be used to organize purses, pocketbooks, jewelry, and other accessories for quick and convenient access when getting dressed. The pocketbook and accessory device 100 comprises a base unit 102 and a substantially vertical pole 104 secured together. The vertical pole 104 comprises a plurality of openings 106 and a plurality of hooks 108 for hanging the purses, pocketbooks, jewelry, or other accessories (as shown in FIG. 1).
The base unit 102 comprises a top surface 110 and a bottom surface 112. Typically, the base unit 102 can be any suitable shape as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention, such as rectangular, square, circular, oval, triangular, etc. The base unit 102 would generally be constructed of wood, such as oak, cedar, pine, walnut, maple, plywood, homogeneous plastics, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polycarbonate (PC), etc., composite polymers, or recycled material, though any other suitable material may be used to manufacture the base unit 102 as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention.
The base unit 102 can also comprise a variety of colors and designs to suit user and manufacturing preference. While the shape and size of the base unit 102 may vary greatly depending on the wants and needs of a user, the base unit 102 is approximately between 72 inches in height as measured from a top surface 110 to a bottom surface 112, and approximately between 14 and 16 inches in diameter.
The pocketbook and accessory device 100 further comprises a substantially vertical pole 104 which extends upward from and is secured to the top surface 110 of the base unit 102. The vertical pole 104 is secured to the top surface 110 or it can extend beneath the top surface and be secured within the base for increased stability via any suitable securing means as is known in the art, such as nailing, gluing, hardware, fasteners, etc. The vertical pole 104 would generally be constructed of the same material as the base unit 102, for example, wood, such as oak, cedar, pine, walnut, maple, plywood, homogeneous plastics, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polycarbonate (PC), etc., composite polymers, or recycled material, though any other suitable material may be used to manufacture the vertical pole 104 as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention.
Typically, the vertical pole 104 can be any suitable shape as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention, such as a cylinder, a rectangular prism, etc. While the shape and size of the vertical pole 104 may vary greatly depending on the wants and needs of a user, the vertical pole 104 is approximately between 6 and 6.5 feet long as measured from a first end 114 to a second end 116, and approximately between 2 and 4 inches in diameter.
Additionally, the pocketbook and accessory device 100 comprises a plurality of openings 106 disposed in a spaced apart relationship on an exterior surface 118 of the substantially vertical pole 104. The openings 106 are sized to accept a hook 108 or other hanging device. The openings 106 are typically pre-drilled openings to suit user and manufacturing preference, or can be hand-drilled by a user, depending on the wants and needs of a user. The plurality of openings 106 can vary in size and shape as long as the openings 106 are sized to accept a hook 108. Typically, the device 100 comprises approximately forty openings 106.
The pocketbook and accessory device 100 further comprises a plurality of hooks 108 for insertion into the plurality of openings 106 (as shown in FIG. 2), with only one hook 108 being inserted per opening 106. The plurality of hooks 108 can be any suitable size and shape, and function as prior art hooks known in the art. The plurality of hooks 108 can further comprise a rubber coating 120 or other similar coating that protects purses, pocketbooks, or other accessories and prevents them from creasing if hung for an extended period of time.
The hooks 108 would generally be constructed of metal or homogeneous plastics, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polycarbonate (PC), etc., or composite polymers, though any other suitable material may be used to manufacture the hooks 108 as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention.
The plurality of hooks 108 can vary in size and shape as long as the hooks 108 can be inserted into the plurality of openings 106. The hooks 108 are secured into the openings 106 via any suitable securing means as is known in the art, such as nailing, gluing, hardware, fasteners, etc. Further, the hooks 108 can be removably secured into the openings 106 and the hooks 108 can be permanently secured into the openings 106, depending on the wants and needs of a user.
Typically, the device 100 comprises approximately forty hooks 108 which can be inserted into the plurality of openings 106, with only one hook 108 being inserted per opening 106. However, the plurality of openings 106 are sized to accept any of the plurality of hooks 108, such that a user can interchange the hooks 108 and/or only insert hooks 108 into a predetermined number of selected openings 106 to vary the arrangement of the hooks 108, depending on the wants and needs of the user.
The pocketbook and accessory device 100 further comprises a plurality of wheels 122 secured to the bottom surface 112 of the base unit 102 which allows the pocketbook and accessory device 100 to be transported. The wheels 122 are secured to the base unit 102 via any suitable securing means as is known in the art, such as nailing, gluing, hardware, fasteners, etc., and can be secured in any suitable position on the base unit 102. The plurality of wheels 122 can be any suitable size, shape and number, and function as prior art wheels known in the art. Generally, the vertical pole 104 must be balanced in order to hold the pocketbooks, purses, accessories, etc. of all sizes. Thus, no handles, wheel brakes, or wheel locks are necessary, unless the floor or other ground surface is uneven, then handles, wheel brakes, and/or wheel locks can be included with the pocketbook and accessory device 100.
FIG. 3 illustrates the pocketbook and accessory device 100 with accessories 300 being hung on the hooks 108. As stated supra, a user can insert hooks 108 into a predetermined number of selected openings 106 to create the desired arrangement of the hooks 108 for their specific needs and/or wants. Once the desired number of hooks 108 are inserted into the openings 106, the user can then hang their accessories 300, such as jewelry, scarves, ties, etc., on the hooks 108.
FIG. 4 illustrates the pocketbook and accessory device 100 with purses 400 and pocketbooks 400 being hung on the hooks 108. As stated supra, a user can insert hooks 108 into a predetermined number of selected openings 106 to create the desired arrangement of the hooks 108 for their specific needs and/or wants. Once the desired number of hooks 108 are inserted into the openings 106, the user can then hang their purses 400 or pocketbooks 400, etc., on the hooks 108.
FIG. 5 illustrates the pocketbook and accessory device 100 in use. In operation, a user 500 would choose the size and/or amount of hooks 108 that meets their needs and/or wants. The user 500 would then arrange the hooks 108 on the vertical pole 104 via inserting a hook 108 into one of the openings 106. The user 500 would then insert hooks 108 into a predetermined number of selected openings 106 to create the desired arrangement of the hooks 108 for their specific needs and/or wants.
Once the desired number of hooks 108 are inserted into the openings 106, the user 500 can then hang their purses 400, pocketbooks 400, jewelry, and other accessories 300 on the hooks 108. Then, once the desired purses 400, pocketbooks 400, jewelry, and other accessories 300 are arranged on the hooks 108, the user 500 can utilize the wheels 122 and roll the pocketbook and accessory device 100 to a desired location for ease in dressing and getting ready.
Thus, the device 100 provides users with quick and convenient access to their purses 400, pocketbooks 400, and other accessories 300. Moreover, the device 100 frees up storage space for other items and can be easily transported from one room to another room or from closet to closet via the set of wheels 122, making the pocketbook and accessory device 100 ideal for anyone who needs to organize their purses 400, pocketbooks 400, jewelry, accessories 300, etc.
What has been described above includes examples of the claimed subject matter. It is, of course, not possible to describe every conceivable combination of components or methodologies for purposes of describing the claimed subject matter, but one of ordinary skill in the art may recognize that many further combinations and permutations of the claimed subject matter are possible. Accordingly, the claimed subject matter is intended to embrace all such alterations, modifications and variations that fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Furthermore, to the extent that the term “includes” is used in either the detailed description or the claims, such term is intended to be inclusive in a manner similar to the term “comprising” as “comprising” is interpreted when employed as a transitional word in a claim.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A pocketbook and accessory device comprising:

a base unit comprising a top surface and a bottom surface;

a substantially vertical pole extending upward from and secured to the top surface of the base unit;

a plurality of openings in a spaced apart relationship and disposed on an exterior surface of the substantially vertical pole; and

a plurality of hooks for insertion into the plurality of openings.

2. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of wheels secured to the bottom surface of the base unit which allows the pocketbook and accessory device to be transported.

3. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 1, wherein the substantially vertical pole comprises approximately forty openings.

4. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 3, wherein the plurality of hooks comprises approximately forty hooks.

5. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 4, wherein the plurality of openings are sized to accept any of the plurality of hooks, with only one hook being inserted per opening; and

wherein a user inserts a hook into a predetermined number of selected openings of the substantially vertical pole to vary the arrangement of the plurality of hooks.

6. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of hooks comprises a rubber coating.

7. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 1, wherein the substantially vertical pole is approximately between 6 and 6.5 feet in length as measured from a first end to a second end.

8. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 1, wherein the base component is approximately between 14 and 16 inches in diameter.

9. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 8, wherein the base component is approximately between 72 inches in height as measured between the top surface and the bottom surface.

10. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 1, wherein the substantially vertical pole is manufactured of wood.

11. A pocketbook and accessory device comprising:

a base unit comprising a top surface and a bottom surface;

a plurality of hooks for insertion into the plurality of openings; and

wherein the plurality of openings are sized to accept any of the plurality of hooks; and

wherein only one hook is inserted per opening.

12. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 11, wherein each of the plurality of hooks comprises a rubber coating.

13. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 11, further comprising a plurality of wheels secured to the bottom surface of the base unit which allows the pocketbook and accessory device to be transported.

14. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 11, wherein the substantially vertical pole is approximately between 6 and 6.5 feet in length as measured from a first end to a second end.

15. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 11, wherein the base component is approximately between 14 and 16 inches in diameter.

16. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 15, wherein the base component is approximately between 72 inches in height as measured between the top surface and the bottom surface.

17. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 11, wherein the substantially vertical pole comprises approximately forty openings.

18. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 17, wherein the plurality of hooks comprises approximately forty hooks.

19. A pocketbook and accessory device comprising:

a base unit comprising a top surface and a bottom surface;

a plurality of openings in a spaced apart relationship and disposed on an exterior surface of the substantially vertical pole;

a plurality of hooks for insertion into the plurality of openings; and

a plurality of wheels secured to the bottom surface of the base unit which allows the pocketbook and accessory device to be transported; and

wherein the plurality of openings are sized to accept any of the plurality of hooks, with only one hook being inserted per opening; and

20. The pocketbook and accessory device of claim 19, wherein each of the plurality of hooks comprises a rubber coating.
