Abstract

The present invention is a clothing line to accommodate persons with special needs that includes a handicapped person's shirt, a first plurality of fasteners between the collar and the shoulders of the shirt, one or more second fasteners on the side of the shirt to allow access to the handicapped person's side and a pocket with a front facing on the front of shirt and an aperture behind the pocket. There is also a handicapped woman's dress with a first plurality of fasteners to allow access to a handicapped person's neck and shoulders, one or more second fasteners to allow access to the handicapped person's side, a flap on the front of the dress and an aperture behind the flap. There is also a pair of handicapped person's pants with a plurality of zippers disposed along the leg portions and the side.

Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD & BACKGROUND
  • Children and adults who are handicapped or have a limited range of motion often have very unique needs and requirements with their clothing, which can sometimes be difficult to accommodate. Unfortunately, there are limited alternatives to traditional clothing styles that can adapt to meet these versatile needs.
  • It is an object of the present invention to provide fashionable and comfortable clothing for persons with special needs.
  • It is an object of the present invention to provide fashionable clothing for handicapped persons that is easily and quickly removed and put-on.
  • What is really needed is fashionable and comfortable clothing for persons with special needs that is easily and quickly removed and put-on.

  • The present invention will be described by way of exemplary embodiments, but not limitations, illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which like references denote similar elements, and in which:
  • FIG. 1A illustrates a front perspective view of a handicapped man's shirt, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 1B illustrates a front perspective view of a handicapped woman's blouse, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 illustrates a front perspective view of a handicapped woman's dress, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates a front perspective view of a handicapped person's pants, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.
    •  DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS
  • Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.
  • Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention. However, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.
  • The phrase in one embodiment is utilized repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms comprising, having and including are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.
  • FIG. 1A illustrates a front perspective view of a handicapped man's shirt 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The handicapped man's shirt 100 includes a first plurality of fasteners 110, a second plurality of fasteners 120 and a pocket 130. The handicapped man's shirt 100 illustrated in FIG. 1A is a short sleeved shirt 140, however the handicapped man's shirt 100 can be a long sleeved shirt, a tank top or any other suitable man's shirt. The handicapped man's shirt 100 can be made of cotton, polyester, linen or wool or any combination of cotton, polyester, linen or wool.
  • The first fasteners 110 are disposed between the collar 102 and two shoulder portions 104 of the handicapped man's shirt 100. The first fasteners 110 can be a plurality of snap buttons 112 or any other suitable type of fasteners such as a plurality of hook and loop fasteners, a plurality of buttons with corresponding apertures or loops, a zipper or a plurality of string ties. The first fasteners 110 allow a caregiver access to a handicapped person's shoulders for auxiliary temperature readings or the handicapped person's neck for trachea care as well as providing a relatively easier way to remove and put-on the handicapped man's shirt 100. The second fasteners 120 are disposed along a side 106 of the handicapped man's shirt 100. The second fasteners 120 can be a zipper 122 or any other suitable type of fasteners such as a plurality of hook and loop fasteners, a plurality of buttons with corresponding apertures or loops, or a plurality of string ties. The pocket 130 has a front facing 132 and an aperture 134 disposed behind the front facing 132. The pocket 130 can hold a feeding tube 136 that can also run through the aperture 134.
  • FIG. 1B illustrates a front perspective view of a handicapped woman's blouse 140, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The handicapped woman's blouse 140 includes a plurality of first fasteners 150 disposed between the collar 152 and shoulders 154 of the handicapped woman's blouse 140, a second plurality of fasteners 160 and a pocket 170. The handicapped woman's blouse 140 illustrated in FIG. 1B is a short sleeved blouse 180, however the handicapped woman's blouse 140 can be a long sleeved blouse, a tank top or any other suitable woman's blouse. The handicapped woman's blouse 140 can be made of cotton, polyester, linen or wool or any combination of cotton, polyester, linen or wool.
  • The first fasteners 150 are disposed between the collar 152 and two shoulder portions 154 of the handicapped man's shirt 100. The first fasteners 150 can be a plurality of snap buttons 156 or any other suitable type of fasteners such as a plurality of hook and loop fasteners, a plurality of buttons, a plurality of zippers or a plurality of string ties. The second fasteners 160 are disposed along a side 158 of the handicapped man's shirt 100. The second fasteners 160 can be a zipper 162 or any other suitable type of fasteners such as a plurality of hook and loop fasteners, a plurality of buttons with corresponding apertures or loops, or a plurality of string ties. The pocket 170 has a front facing 172 and an aperture 174 disposed behind the front facing 172.
  • FIG. 2 illustrates a front perspective view of a handicapped woman's dress 200, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The handicapped woman's dress 200 includes a plurality of first fasteners 210, a plurality of second fasteners 220, a flap 230 and an aperture 240. The handicapped woman's dress 200 can also be a skirt or other suitable woman's dress. The handicapped woman's dress 200 can be made of cotton, polyester, linen or wool or any combination of cotton, polyester, linen or wool.
  • The first fasteners 210 are disposed between the collar 212 and shoulders 214 of the handicapped woman's dress 200. The first fasteners 210 can be a plurality of snap buttons 216 or any other suitable type of fasteners such as a plurality of hook and loop fasteners, a plurality of buttons, a plurality of zippers or a plurality of string ties. The second fasteners 220 are disposed along a side 218 of the handicapped woman's dress 200. The second fasteners 220 can be a zipper 222 or any other suitable type of fasteners such as a plurality of hook and loop fasteners, a plurality of buttons with corresponding apertures or loops, or a plurality of string ties. The flap 230 is disposed on the front 202 of the handicapped woman's dress 200. The aperture 240 is disposed behind the flap 230 to accommodate a feeding tube 242 hidden by the flap 230.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates a front perspective view of a handicapped person's pants 300, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The handicapped person's pants 300 include a plurality of zippers 310. The handicapped person's pants 300 can be worn by men or women and can also be a pair of short pants or other suitable pants. The handicapped person's pants 300 can be made of cotton, polyester, linen or wool or any combination of cotton, polyester, linen or wool.
  • The handicapped person's pants 300 have two leg portions 302 with a front 304 and a side 306. The front 304 two leg portions each have a zipper 310 that runs along the vertical length 308 of the two leg portions 302. There is also a zipper 310 disposed along the entire vertical length 312 of the side 306. The zippers 310 provide for relatively easy access to the handicapped person's legs and side while making it relatively easy to put-on and take-off the handicapped person's pants 300.
  • Clothing to accommodate persons with special needs is a handicap clothing line that features garments which are specifically tailored to meet a wide variety of physical limitations or restrictions, thus making it simple and pleasant to shop.   • While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.

Claims (20)

1. A shirt with a collar, two shoulders portions, a front and a side, comprising:
a first plurality of fasteners disposed between said collar and said shoulders to allow access to a handicapped person's neck and shoulders;
one or more second fasteners disposed on said side to allow access to said handicapped person's side; and
a pocket with a front facing disposed on said front of shirt and an aperture disposed behind said pocket.
2. The shirt according to claim 1, wherein said first fasteners include a plurality of snap buttons.
3. The shirt according to claim 1, wherein said second fasteners include a zipper.
4. The shirt according to claim 1, wherein said pocket holds a feeding tube.
5. The shirt according to claim 4, wherein said aperture accommodates said feeding tube.
6. The shirt according to claim 1, wherein said shirt is selected from the group consisting of cotton, polyester, linen, wool or any combination of cotton, polyester, linen or wool.
7. The shirt according to claim 1, wherein said shirt is a man's shirt.
8. The shirt according to claim 1, wherein said shirt is a woman's blouse.
9. A dress with a collar, two shoulders portions and a front, comprising:
a first plurality of fasteners disposed between said collar and said shoulders to allow access to a handicapped person's neck and shoulders;
one or more second fasteners disposed on said side to allow access to said handicapped person's side;
a flap disposed on said front of dress; and
an aperture disposed behind said flap.
10. The dress according to claim 9, wherein said first fasteners include a plurality of snap buttons.
11. The dress according to claim 9, wherein said second fasteners include a zipper.
12. The dress according to claim 9, wherein said flap covers a feeding tube disposed on said front of dress.
13. The dress according to claim 12, wherein said aperture accommodates said feeding tube.
14. The dress according to claim 9, wherein said dress is selected from the group consisting of cotton, polyester, linen, wool or any combination of cotton, polyester, linen or wool.
15. A pair of pants with two leg portions each with a front and a side, comprising:
a plurality of zippers disposed along said leg portions and said side.
16. The pants according to claim 15, wherein said zipper is disposed along an entire vertical length of said leg portion fronts.
17. The pants according to claim 15, wherein said zipper is disposed along an entire vertical length of said side.
18. The pants according to claim 15, wherein said pants are worn by men.
19. The pants according to claim 15, wherein said pants are worn by women.
20. The pants according to claim 15, wherein said pants is selected from the group consisting of cotton, polyester, linen, wool or any combination of cotton, polyester, linen or wool.
