Abstract

A dart board game that simulates the game of golf by using regulation size darts. It is comprised of an eighteen inch regulation dart board with representations of various golf holes related to the score card. The regulation board includes varying marked yardages, water ponds, outside perimeter landing area, three stage putting green that includes a hole-in-one. All in-play areas are marked with one-eighth inch (⅛″) perimeter lines. The game combines the skilled precision and finesse of darts with the low-scoring goal of golf.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a golf dart board game and combines the skilled precision of darts with the low-scoring goal of golf. This is achieved by assessing one's dart throwing accuracy by scoring hits in the order required by the scoring card. In this respect, the golf dart board game substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs. This invention is a new and improved golf dart board game aimed at improving one's dart throwing precision; recording accuracy on a scorecard; and simulating the low-scoring goal of golf. To attain this, the present invention is played with a regulation sized, customized dart board and adapted to be hung vertically from a mounting surface.
Beyond the traditional dart board, there are other dart games which combine other games, such as golf with darts. For example,

U.S. Pat. No. 4,974,857 to Beall discloses an electronic dart game capable of being played by sight-impaired persons
U.S. Pat. No. 5,020,807 to Barkley described a new and improved dart board comprising a generally flat target surface, a two-dimensional pattern of figures supported on the surface, the pattern emulating the holes of a golf course
U.S. Pat. No. 5,197,743 to Hansen describes a dart game which includes a board with a simulation golf course presented thereon, including fairways, greens, sand traps, and the like
U.S. Pat. No. 5,975,530 to Gary describes a golf dart game played upon a circular playing field having a plurality of hole wedges extending from the playing field center.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to a custom designed golf dart board game with a player throwing a dart at the targeted yardages to achieve the lowest score per hole.
The present invention is to provide a new and improved golf dart board game which has all the advantages of dart games and none of the disadvantages.
The objective of the invention is to provide a new and improved golf dart board game which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.
A further objective is to provide a new and improved golf dart board game which is of durable and reliable construction, of a low cost to manufacture with regards to labour and materials, thereby making the golf dart board game economically available to the buying public.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the preferred representation of the dart board golf game constructed in accordance with the principles of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring to FIG. 1—
The board has 14 landings areas with yardages (YDS) denoted in units of 25-25 yards; 50 yards; 75 yards; 100 yards; 125 yards; 150 yards; 175 yards; 200 yards; 225 yards; 250 yards; 275 yards; 300 yards; 325 yards; 350 yards. The landing areas are separated by one-eighth (⅛″) inch lines that are also playing areas.
The three (3) stage putting green has four (4) landing areas. Area one (1) denoted as “1 putt”, area two (2) denoted as “2 putt”, area three (3) denoted as “3 putt” and a hole in one denoted as “HIO”.
In addition to the above denoted areas are smaller, semi-circular/oval blue water areas of play also known as “water ponds”.
An even further perimeter outside all clearly marked landing areas to very outside edge of the dartboard is out-of-bounds as described in the rules.
To play the game, each player is required to throw a dart to hit the sectional areas of the dart board which simulate golf yardages corresponding to the related scorecard holes being played. Each player is required to stand at a predetermined distance from the golf dart board (outlined in the rules of the game) when throwing the darts. Players continue to throw their darts until they achieve the required lowest possible score relating to nine or 18 holes played. A maximum of 4 players may participate at one time. After completing nine or eighteen holes, the game ends. The player who achieves the lowest score at the end of the game is deemed the winner.
In order to determine the sequence of play, each player would throw a dart to see who is closest to the red, circular, hole-in-one (HIO). The closest player goes first, and then the next closest, etc. After the order is determined, the player's names are written on the score card and their scores accumulated accordingly. Get ready and tee off at the first hole.
During the play of the game, each dart thrown counts as one stroke of play.
In this respect, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details or rules herein. The invention is capable of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is understood that the purpose of the phraseology and terminology is for the purpose of descriptions and should not be regarded as limiting.
Referring to FIG. 2—
The player's score is recorded on pre-printed score cards.
The score cards are rectangular in shape and contain fourteen (14) marked horizontal rows. A first row includes numbered holes 1 through 9 followed by a column which includes total yardages from holes one (1) through nine (9). Holes 10 through 18 are marked on score card. A second row includes yardages from the gold tees. The third row includes yardages from the blue tees. The fourth row includes yardages from the white tees. The fifth row includes the handicap. The next four rows will include the names of up to four players per round of golf. The tenth row includes par on holes from one (1) through nine (9) and total as well as holes ten (10) through eighteen (18) and total. The eleventh (11) row includes ladies and seniors yardages from holes one (1) through nine (9) and total as well as holes ten (10) through eighteen (18) an d total. The twelfth (12) row includes the ladies par on holes from one (1) through nine (9) and total as well as holes ten (10) through eighteen (18) and total. The thirteenth row includes the ladies handicap on holes one (1) through nine (9) and holes ten (10) through eighteen (18). Each player records their respective scores. The player with the lowest score at the end of the game is deemed the winner.
The opposite side of the score card is identical to the player's score card described above.
Referring to FIG. 3—
The golf dart board game is played with only four (4) darts.
Each dart includes a main body section with a front end including a needle extending therefrom, the tail end of each dart including a flight extending therefrom, and the main sections of each dart which includes a rough gripping surface and barrel. The player will grip the dart and stand at a pre-determined distance from the dartboard when throwing the dart. The dart shall be thrown at the dartboard to attain the required combination or by reaching a maximum allowable attempts of 10 throws.

Claims

1. An original custom designed, regulation sized golf dart board adapted to be hung vertically from a mounting surface. The golf dartboard has 14 landing play areas with yardages (YDS) denoted in units of 25-25 yards; 50 yards; 75 yards; 100 yards; 125 yards; 150 yards; 175 yards; 200 yards; 225 yards; 250 yards; 275 yards; 300 yards; 325 yards; 350 yards. The play areas are separated by a one-eighth inch (⅛″) line which are also playing areas. (FIG. 1)

2. An even further a three stage putting green with three (3) stage putting green has four (4) landing areas. Area one (1) denoted as 1 putt, area two (2) denoted as 2 putt, area three (3) denoted as 3 putt and hole in one denoted as HIO.

3. An even further addition to the above denoted areas are several smaller, semi-circular/oval blue water areas of play also known as “water ponds”.

4. An even further perimeter outside all clearly marked landing areas to very outside edge of the dartboard is out-of-bounds as described in the rules where one stroke penalty will be incurred.

5. Plurality of darts—the golf dart board game is played with four (4) darts, one dart per person and each dart including a main body section with a front end including a needle extending therefrom, the rear end of each dart including flight extending therefrom, and the main section of each dart which includes a rough gripping surface and barrel. (FIG. 3)

6. The player would grip the dart during play of the game and throw towards the golf dart board so that the needle becomes lodged in the desired section of the board.

7. Customized score cards—The player's score is recorded on pre-printed score cards. The score cards are rectangular in shape and contain fourteen (14) marked horizontal rows. A first row includes numbered holes 1 through 9 followed by a column which includes total yardages from holes one (1) through nine (9). Holes 10 through 18 are marked on score card. A second row includes yardages from the gold tees. The third row includes yardages from the blue tees. The fourth row includes yardages from the white tees. The fifth row includes the handicap. The next four rows will include the names of up to four players per round of golf. The tenth row includes par on holes from one (1) through nine (9) and total as well as holes ten (10) through eighteen (18) and total. The eleventh (11) row includes ladies and seniors yardages from holes one (1) through nine (9) and total as well as holes ten (10) through eighteen (18) and total. The twelfth (12) row includes the ladies par on holes from one (1) through nine (9) and total as well as holes ten (10) through eighteen (18) and total. The thirteenth row includes the ladies handicap on holes one (1) through nine (9) and holes ten (10) through eighteen (18). Each player records their respective scores. The player with the lowest score at the end of the game is deemed the winner. The opposite side of the score card is identical to the player's score card described above. (FIG. 2)

8. A set of playing rules and safety instructions informing players how to play the game will be included with the board, darts and score card package.
